Miele's W 2525 WPS AllWater -Gentle, All-Water Laundry Care

Although an old German saying claims that water is for doing the washing, why use valuable drinking water when there are other sources? Miele addressed this issue many years ago and developed a washing machine with two separate water intake systems - one for mains water, the other for an alternative water supply, such as rain, well or softened water or for the intake of hot water from an immersion heater. Miele's W 2525 WPS AllWater model is also now available in the new generation with a honeycomb drum, making this washing machine a real all-rounder which goes gentle on the laundry as well as on the environment.

A characteristic highlight of this drum is the special honeycomb surface structure. This new surface design ensures that there is a thin film of water between the load and the drum body which cushions the load on water, preventing any impressions being left by laundry being plastered against the drum and forced into holes during the spin cycle. Another feature which contributes to gentle laundry care is the fact that the drum perforations have been reduced in number and size. A new rinsing process perfects this concept: it shortens programme duration and reduces overall water consumption to a mere 45 l in a standard 60°C 'Cottons' programme. With the 'Hot rinse' option, water consumption is reduced by 15% to just 39 l. The W 2525 WPS AllWater is also equipped with high-performance Softtronic controls which offer hand-wash programmes for woollens and silks and functions such as a countdown display, delay start and programme Update.

But how does the AllWater model differ from other washing machines? It is not simply a matter of the two inlet hoses at the rear of the machine, but of state-of-the-art appliance technology combined with electronic controls and two separate water intake systems which offer the user a choice of options. With hot-water operation, water pre-heated economically by oil, gas or solar energy is taken into the machine. If the central hot water tank is situated close to the washing machine's stopcock, energy costs can be reduced considerably. In the 'Cottons' programme electricity consumption can be reduced by about 50%. This, in turn, lowers the consumption of primary energy and the production of carbon dioxide.

Other control options are designed for use of an alternative water supply (rain or well water). For hygiene reasons, the final rinse is always carried out using mains drinking water. The use of an alternative water supply means huge savings on mains water consumption: more than 11,500 litres per year compared to other washing machines featuring a honeycomb drum (assuming 320 normal wash cycles). And if, for example, rain water is softer than the mains water supply, less detergent is required as well, further reducing costs. In areas with very hard water the machine can also be connected to an external water softener - this saves up to 50% detergent and relieves the burden on the environment.

Twice as Stylish

PAB Launches Improved Dishwasher for ATAG

New to the ATAG product line-up is the VA4511AT 45cm wide integrated dishwasher. Replacing the VA4011MT, this improved model has a lower decibel rating of 47db and has energy A, wash A and dry A ratings – as does the VA6011AT 600mm wide model.

‘The 450mm and 600mm wide dishwashers deliver fast and effective cleaning power, whatever the task and are designed with economy and fuel efficiency in mind’ says PAB Managing Director Guy Weaver.

Both models can be concealed behind cabinet doors, or the VA6011AT can be fitted with the AV2011R stainless steel door panel to give a total design look.
