Stylish 'Metal-Look' for New Siemens Induction Hobs

Kitchen appliance manufacturer Siemens has introduced two new ceramic induction hobs in a stylish 'metal-look' design to coordinate with its extensive range of built in cooking appliances.

The two new induction hobs are 60cm wide (EH 777901) and 80cm wide (EH 787902) respectively. These models stand out from the crowd, thanks to a unique 'floating' effect, achieved via a dot design printed onto the ceramic glass surface. They also feature smart stainless steel side trims.

Both hobs incorporate four induction zones ranging in size from 15cm to 21cm on the EH 777901 and a 28cm diameter on the EH 787902, delivering an impressive 3.4 kW power. The total connected load on each model is 7.2 kW and a special 'boost' function on all four zones further increases the power output of each zone by around 50%.

The streamlined electronic front mounted controls are activated by the touch of a finger and an automatic safety cut out facility is built in to these hobs, as is a child lock to prevent any hidden danger when young children are in the kitchen.

Furthermore, to ensure that the user is fully aware of any remaining heat after cooking, special residual heat indicators are integral to each of the four zones on both appliances. The letter 'H' appears as an illuminated warning if any of the zones reaches above 50°C and a small 'h' appears when below 50°C.

Induction is a fast and highly energy efficient method of cooking. The pan recognition sensors mean that the base of the pan only heats up when it comes into contact with the zone itself. As soon as the pan is removed, the glass cools down and switches off so it is very safe as it cannot be turned on accidentally. What's more, their smooth ceramic surfaces mean that these hobs are very easy to keep clean as spillages are less likely to burn on.

There is a choice of 17 temperature settings for each zone to guarantee the perfect temperature for each method and a memory function enables you to store your favourite recipes for repeat use on future occasions. A useful 'keep warm' setting is also available on both hobs for late arrivals to the table!

Models EH 777901 and EH 787902 are available now at around £850 and £1000 respectively. A free copy of Siemens' new built in brochure featuring these new hobs and the company's entire built in appliance collection can be obtained by calling 0870 840 3300 or from http://www.siemensappliances.co.uk.

Black Beauty from Siemens - Black Dishwasher Introduced

As an alternative to the perennially popular colours of white and stainless steel, kitchen appliance manufacturer Siemens introduced a freestanding dishwasher finished in black gloss this August.

Model SE26T652GB is a standard 60cm wide dishwasher with a top triple 'A' rating for wash, dry and energy performance and a very low noise level of just 49 decibels, making it a good option for an open plan kitchen diner.

Its black colouring is not the only distinguishing feature of the economical SE26T652GB. This model is faster by design: by default it is up to 50% quicker than previous models on all five wash programmes, from the 'Quick' programme @ 45°C (29 minutes) to the Rapid Intensive programme at 70°C (88-93 minutes).

Included on this new appliance is a special hydroSensor programme in which sensors detect the level of soiling and automatically adjust the amount of water and detergent to suit the wash, ensuring economical consumption at all times.

In addition, by pressing the 'Eco' option, you can save even more water and electricity by slowing down the programme providing an 'A' rated energy cycle. The half load button further reduces water consumption by up to 30% per wash.

Other notable features of the new black SE26T652GB dishwasher include a stainless steel interior, adjustable baskets and plate racks for flexible storage facilities, child lock incorporated into the handle and a tamperproof control panel that can easily be locked to prevent little fingers from changing the settings.

Comments Siemens Brand Manager, Jane Massey: ‘This black dishwasher adds a whole new dimension to our freestanding collection. Not only does it offer the consumer additional choice in design terms, but it also remains firmly within the strict framework of Siemens' on-going commitment to environmental concerns.’

The SE26T652GB dishwasher is the first in a new line of black appliances to be introduced into Siemens' freestanding collection this autumn. Selected matching refrigeration and laundry appliances will also be available from September 2007.

Maytag's Drying Cabinet Does Everything a Tumble Dryer Won't

It doesn't tumble, so it doesn't shrink or make your clothes bobbley. It won't destroy your cashmere or wreck your silk lingerie; Maytag's drying cabinet will dry everything and virtually anything gently to perfection.

The drying cabinet from Maytag provides the perfect solution for all your drying and airing needs. The company says that it is the first drying cabinet of its kind that offers a modern version of the airing cupboard with the additional benefit of an equivalent of 16 metres of clothes line.

Maytag's Drying Cabinet is a multi-functional, freestanding unit, which is perfect for drying anything from expensive shirts, to Wellington boots, hats and gloves and even the umbrella! It is fitted with sliding racks and multiple prongs and hangers to offer a flexible and versatile drying area. Three gentle heat settings with a four-hour timer will dry 3.5 - 4kgs of clothes in a couple of hours.

The labour-saving drying cabinet also reduces ironing as heated air flows around hanging garments, allowing creases to drop out. This flexible and versatile drying space comes in either white or stainless steel and can be installed anywhere in the home. It can be installed as the ultimate laundry centre next to Maytag's stacked 60 Series washing machine and tumble dryer and can also be vented to the outside.

‘The weather is so unreliable in the UK to line dry these days; it's either too wet or even too sunny - which can turn your whites yellow!’ said Maytag Product Marketing Manager Stuart Frost. ‘And then many of us regularly struggle to find drying space around the house too, resorting to the clothes horse which is difficult to find somewhere to put it.

‘The tumble dryer is a huge aid to us all within the home but there are so many articles, traditional natural fibres and new materials that are simply not able to go into a tumble dryer - the Maytag Drying cabinet will do it all!’

The approximate retail price of the Maytag Drying cabinet, MDE1100ARS/AEW is around £499-529 for the white version and £599-629 for stainless steel.

For further information and a brochure please contact Maytag UK 01737 231 000 or visit the website at http://www.maytag.co.uk
