De
Dietrich Launches DCI499X - A Freestanding Pyrolytic / Induction Cooker
De
Dietrich
says that when it launched in the UK just over 25 years ago, it was the
first company to bring built - in pyrolytic ovens to the UK market, and
has been at the forefront of advances in this technology ever since. It
was also the first brand to launch induction hobs and still has the widest
range available on the market. Most recently, it launched its range of
Matrics ICS (intelligent control system) ovens which offer a totally automatic
cooking mode.
De
Dietrich has now launched the new DCI499X freestanding cooker, which combines
the most advanced technologies it has pioneered - an induction hob and
a pyrolytic oven with the added advantage of Matrics ICS technology in
a single appliance. The 'A' rated 60cm cooker also features a useful storage
compartment beneath the oven.
Induction works by using magnetic induction coils beneath the glass surface
of the hob and when a compatible pan is placed on the glass, it reacts
with the inductor and this produces heat. An induction hob is twice the
speed of gas, yet is far more energy efficient than any other type of
hob. It is the most controllable type of hob offering the most precise
source of heat available for cooking and it is also safe: De Dietrich
induction hobs all come with 7 safety features, including a child lock.
Cleaning could not be easier or faster, just wipe it down using a cloth.
The induction hob on this cooker has 4 induction zones which are all powered
by independent touch controls. Each zone has 15 power levels and three
direct access levels as well as a boost function where, by a single touch
of the controls, maximum power is reached; ideal for sealing meat. Each
cooking zone also features a 99-minute timer, so dishes can be timed to
cook to perfection.
The
51 litre 'A' rated oven is multifunction with nine cooking functions including
Fan, Combined cooking, Turbogrill, Conventional, Conventional eco, Single
grill, Double grill, Keep warm and Defrost. As with all De Dietrich standard
single ovens in the range, it benefits from having an ActivEmail black
enamel interior that can withstand temperatures up to 500º C. The oven
has two pyrolytic cleaning functions: PYROMAX, where the oven can be set
to clean for two hours or PYROCONTROL, where the oven will determine economical
length of Pyroclean needed to give the best results. Additionally, with
PYROCONTROL Plus, the oven will even warn you when it needs cleaning.
Using the pyrolytic functions means that the oven will literally clean
itself. It heats up to 500ºC, carbonising all dirt and grease to a fine
ash, just needing a wipe out with a sponge, and this is more economical
than manually cleaning the oven.
The
oven's Turn&Press control is user friendly and will automatically
recommend the appropriate temperature for the chosen cooking method. The
benefit of this oven is that it offers users four modes of cooking dependent
on their ability. De Dietrich says that the ICS cooking mode is the only
fully automatic cooking mode available on the market whereby all the user
needs to do is choose from 12 pre-programmed dishes, and the oven will
choose all the cooking parameters: it will assess the weight and density
of the food, recommend the correct shelf level, temperature, cooking function
and duration. Other modes include COOKING GUIDE, LOW TEMPERATURE cooking
and CHEF mode, which allows the user to use the oven in the traditional
way, where they control all the parameters for cooking.
Another feature is the time delayed rotisserie with shelf support. When
using the automatic clock for turnspit roasting, the oven will switch
itself off at the end of the programmed time but the rotisserie will continue
to rotate every few minutes to ensure an even browning of the meat. A
new rotisserie design ensures that meat can be removed with the attached
drip tray, ensuring that juices do not drip onto the oven door, or on
the floor. For additional convenience, when the oven door is opened the
fan inside will automatically stop.
The oven also benefits from an Eolyse catalyser, which destroys smells,
particles and grease from the oven leaving only the aroma of the food.

Blanco
by Gutmann Premium Cooker Hoods: Perfection in Detail
The
company says that every aspect of a Blanco by Gutmann
extraction appliance is carefully designed to contribute to the excellence
of the appliance as a whole.
Consequently, with an external motor, extraction rates of up to 4000m3/h
can be achieved. Here are just some of the design features and details
that you will find on cooker hoods from the exclusive Blanco
by Gutmann range.
Perimeter Extraction
A patented feature exclusive to Gutmann, perimeter extraction involves
extracting odour-laden air from around the entire outside edge of the
cooker hood. This ensures as large a capture area as possible above the
hob.
Several
Blanco by Gutmann hoods offer this feature, including the Adelante, Campo
(pictured),
Facil, Luminar, Redonda and Hermano.
Ultra-precise hand-welding and hand-finishing
Blanco by Gutmann cooker hoods are hand-welded and hand-finished to exacting
standards by skilled craftsmen, rather than machines. The extra-thick
stainless steel panels help to ensure a finish of peerless quality as
well as long-term resilience.
Glass panel lowered by hydraulic control
On models that include perimeter extraction, the large glass or stainless
steel panel is lowered by hydraulic control to allow easy access to the
grease filters for removal and cleaning.
Sixteen-layer washable stainless steel filters
Made from the highest-quality stainless steel, the 18mm-thick grease filters
for Blanco by Gutmann cooker hoods have 16 layers for exceptional absorption,
and are removable and washable for easy cleaning.
Retaining safety chain for filters
Gutmann engineers have attended to every detail. On appropriate models
in the Blanco by Gutmann range, a retaining safety chain ensures that
the filter cannot fall on to the hob below when it is being removed for
cleaning.
Tri-directional extraction
Built to the highest possible specification, the Solo from Blanco by Gutmann
offers a tri-directional extraction system - thanks to the combination
of the glass panel and filter; extraction occurs from below, from the
side and from above.
Touch controls
The Adelante vertical extractor hood from the Blanco by Gutmann range
incorporates electronic touch controls for straightforward operation and
clean aesthetics.
Multifunction LCD display
On the Clara, a multifunction LCD display provides comprehensive information
about the appliance status. An air-pressure sensor also monitors air pressure
in the kitchen during intensive extraction.

Quick Cooking, the most powerful Franke oven cooking function, and two
cooking functions in the upper oven.

an efficient cooling fan to ensure perfect cooking every time.
The lower oven of the Axis also has a 57 litre capacity which is capable
of accommodating large items and can cook several dishes simultaneously.
The appliances naturally have an accent on stainless steel, and in addition
the Axis double oven also benefits from an anti-touch finish making the
steel more resistant to marks left by fingerprints.

New
Specialist Wine Storage from Miele
Miele
is expanding its specialist refrigeration range with the introduction
of four new luxury appliances for wine connoisseurs.
The KWL 4712 S ed and KWL 4712 SG ed Wine Cellars will appeal to the serious
wine buyer and, with the capacity to house 162 bottles (0.75 litre Bordeaux
size), are suitable for the long-term storage of fine wines. The KWL 4712
S ed features an insulated stainless steel door and the KWL 4712 SG ed
features a tinted tempered glass door.
To
create optimum conditions, temperature can be set between 5°C and
22°C via an electronic control panel, whilst humidity is maintained
at up to 70% to prevent corks from drying out and shrinking. The climate
is maintained by Miele's Dynamic Cooling system, which circulates air
to ensure that temperature and humidity levels remain constant throughout
the unit interior. Should the door be left ajar or the power-supply cut,
an alarm sounds to alert the owner. The door is also fully lockable to
prevent unauthorised access.
The KWT 4974 SG ed and KWT 4154 UG-1 Wine Conditioning Units are designed
to store wine at ready-to-drink temperatures and feature three independent
temperature zones to accommodate different types of wine such as white,
rosé, red or Champagne.
Electronic temperature controls enable each of the three distinct zones
to be set with precision to between 5°C and 18°C. Temperatures
are visible at all times through the glass door and operating controls
can be locked to prevent unintentional changes. A concealed lock at the
top of the door provides discrete security.
Both units have extendable acacia wood shelving to facilitate easy access.
The KWT 4974 SG ed and the KWT 4154 UG-1 (under counter model) offer a
storage capacity 143 and 38 bottles respectively, all at a perfect drink-ready
temperature.
All of the wine storage units benefit from a special vibration-free compressor
to ensure that fine wines are not subjected to any unnecessary movement
and the appliances are fitted with an active charcoal filter to prevent
odour contamination.
Stylish, stainless steel casing and UV-light protective glass-fronted
doors provide visual appeal and create the perfect piece of furniture
for displaying a wine collection.
Jonathan McQuillan, Product Manager at Miele said, Whilst still
very much a niche sector, the market for specialist wine storage products
is continuing to grow steadily.
The new, free-standing appliances have been designed to meet the needs
of wine connoisseurs who have very particular storage requirements and
are looking for the best possible product for preserving and displaying
their collections.

New
from Blanco by Gutmann: Undoubtedly Unusual, Utterly Different...
Every model in the range Blanco by Gutmann
range of exclusive cooker hoods has stainless steel craftsmanship 'of
peerless quality' - hand-welding and hand-finishing result in a showpiece
appliance that is guaranteed to form the centrepiece of any kitchen (even
if the hood is wall-mounted...).
But for impact and exclusivity, any standard model in the Blanco by Gutmann
range can be customised to a customer's precise requirements. In the example
pictured, the double-chimney Solo Design offers aesthetics accompanied
by a double-width, tri-directional filtration system providing ducting
from below, the side and from above.
Here are some other examples of unusual hoods from Blanco by Gutmann.
June 6th 2006:
The rectangular-section Hermano gives the impression that it is manufactured
from a single piece of premium stainless steel. In addition to unusual
design, the Hermano also features unusual technology in the form of perimeter
extraction - in which odour-laden air is drawn into the appliance from
all around the perimeter in order to cover the largest possible area.
If
an unusually large size with style is the aim, then the dual version of
the curved Adelante vertical extractor hood should draw envious looks
in any kitchen. Its individual design is complemented by touchscreen controls
and perimeter extraction from the largest possible area.
For a near-total stainless steel look that accentuates the quality of
Gutmann hand-welding and hand-finishing, the Luminar fits the bill. A
stainless steel panel conceals the 18mm washable metal grease filters,
which are equipped with sixteen layers of mesh for extra-high grease absorption.
As on several other Blanco by Gutmann models, advanced perimeter extraction
completes the picture.
Unusual design is a feature of the double version of the cylindrical Redonda
(pictured right), which resembles two giant vacuum-cleaner tubes, with
powerful motors to extract the maximum quantity of odour-laden air in
as short a time as possible. Again, perimeter extraction is a standard
feature, to capture kitchen odours from the widest area.
But Blanco by Gutmann hoods do not even have to be symmetrical in design
- that's the beauty of the ability to customise any hood in the standard
range. The bespoke asymmetric island version of the Solo has a glass canopy
extended by one metre to follow the line of the cabinet below.
For
the ultimate in integrated kitchen design, however, the sleek Campo II
eliminates the chimney section altogether and is flush-fitted with the
kitchen ceiling - all the ducting is hidden in the ceiling space.
Operated by remote control, the Campo II is available in four sizes, enabling
customers to choose the optimum solution for their size of kitchen. Perimeter
extraction draws in air from all four sides of the appliance.
If bespoke colour is the customer's preference, they can opt to have their
Blanco by Gutmann cooker hood finished to match precisely the colour of
an Aga or country-style range cooker. Any colour from the international
RAL colour palette can be specified, or even a copper or brass finish
- perhaps to co-ordinate with prized copper or brass pans.
Unusual power...
But Blanco by Gutmann cooker hoods are not just about providing a premium-quality
finish and the best aesthetics. Above all, the Gutmann name means creating
an extraction appliance that is as near perfection as possible.
As a result, Blanco by Gutmann cooker hoods represent far and away
the best extraction performance that money can buy, says the company.
Every aspect of the extraction appliance - from the precision-engineered
motors and the design of the extra-thick multi-layer stainless steel filters,
to the optimum diameter for ducting - is carefully designed to contribute
to the excellence of the appliance as a whole.
Consequently, many models feature standard extraction performance of 1200m3/h,
and with an external motor extraction rates of up to an incredible 4000m3/h
can be achieved.

Liebherr
Launches Triple Temperature Wine Storage Unit
Wine
should be stored horizontally and in an environment with high air humidity.
When kept upright for long periods of time, the cork can become dry and
may shrink, allowing air to get to the wine, ruining its taste and quality.
Liebherr
realises the importance of proper storage for the connoisseur and has
offered wine cabinets with two separate temperature sections for many
years. This allows one temperature for all white and sparkling wines and
champagne, and a separately controlled section for red wines. However,
those who are really in the know will tell you that really good wines
need to be stored at many different temperatures.
The new cabinets in the Vinidor range, including the WTes 4677 offer three
zones, each with its own independent temperature control from 3-20oC,
precise to a single degree.
As a result red and white wines as well as champagne can be stored in
one handsome appliance each at the optimum level for enjoyment. Furthermore,
the quality of air is one is one of the most important factors in storing
wine and so Liebherr has ensured that the humidity is set to prevent the
corks from drying out, thus reducing the risk of the wine oxidising.
The Vinidor WTes 4677 retails at approximately £2,500. For more
information on this or any other Liebherr product and your nearest authorised
dealer, call 0870 898 5050, email sales@coolectric.co.uk or visit http://www.liebherr.co.uk
