Electrolux Launches World’s First Clear Dishwasher

Ever wondered what is going on in your dishwasher? Are your china best plates or tall glasses ok? Is the dishwasher actually on? In-depth and ongoing Electrolux research has shown that many of us feel reassured if we can see what is going on inside our appliance. With this in mind Electrolux has come up with the New Electrolux Visi a dishwasher with a window on the wash.

Stylishly designed, the large window in the door clearly reveals the interior design, allowing you to see inside the washing chamber during the wash process. On top of its design, Visi offers several intelligent functions, such as an internal light that illuminates to indicate when the washing cycle is complete, or when the door is open.

Automatic: One Button, Five Programmes

With a single touch of the start button, Visi senses the load and automatically selects the most suitable programme within seconds. Extra features include a delay start option, which allows you to programme the Visi around your busy day, a heavily soiled wash option and an energy label savings programme.

The control panel couldn’t be simpler – press one button and leave the dishwasher to it. For more input, you can choose an intensive wash, economy wash or time delay.

Available from August 2005, in either white or silver , the New Electrolux Visi is equipped with easy-to-use baskets that offer maximum flexibility. The container for the detergent has been ergonomically designed to make it easier to fill and use. And because of the low noise level of 49 dBA and its energy label of AAA, Visi can be used at any time of the day.

DOP440X Multifunction Plus Pyroclean Oven

The ‘A’ rated DOP440X oven from De Dietrich has nine cooking functions including Fan, Combined cooking, Turbogrill, Conventional, Conventional eco, Single grill, Double grill, Keep warm and Defrost. As with all De Dietrich standard single ovens in the range, it benefits from having a Pyroclean black enamel interior that can withstand temperatures up to 500º centigrade and this oven benefits from the De Dietrich COOL DOOR. With four panes of glass, the high temperatures of cooking and pyrocleaning are kind to the surrounding furniture as the door is always cool to the touch. It is also equipped firm easy grip handle and compensated hinges, which means that it will hold fast while opening smoothly and will stay half open when required, i.e. for grilling.

Using a Turn & Press control, the oven has a user friendly animated Multistart programmer with interactive controls. Automatically recommending the appropriate temperature to the chosen cooking method, the oven then controls it to the nearest degree, which can be modified by 5º intervals.

Another feature is the time delayed rotisserie with shelf support. When using the automatic clock for roasting using this mode, the oven will switch itself off at the end of the programmed time but the rotisserie will continue to rotate every few minutes to ensure an even browning of the meat. A new rotisserie design ensures that meat can be removed with the attached drip tray, ensuring that juices do not drip into the oven door, or on the floor. For additional safety, when the oven door is opened the fan inside will automatically stop.

There are three Pyroclean cycles, normal and super and the energy saving Eco mode. Pyrocleaning means that the oven will literally clean itself and is a technology pioneered by De Dietrich. Using this function, the oven heats up to around 500º C, carbonising all dirt and grease to a fine ash that just needs wiping out with a sponge. The three modes work dependent on how dirty the oven is.

Present in all standard sized single ovens is an automated clock and electronic minute minder, allowing the user to time the oven to switch off automatically. As an additional safety feature, the oven will automatically switch off after 10 hours, just in case it is left on inadvertently.

Dimensions (mm) built – in – H585 X W560 XD550

Big is Beautiful for Gaggenau’s Extra Large Oven

Imagine an oven that enables you to cook almost twice as much as food as an ordinary oven. That’s what you get with the new extra large built-in single oven from luxury built-in kitchen appliance manufacturer, Gaggenau.

The EB-388 is 90 cm wide (a standard single built-in oven measures 60 cm) and has a generous capacity of 89 litres (compared to 50 litres in a standard oven).

Finished in brushed stainless steel, this built-in single oven is considered to be such a design classic that it has been selected for display at the world famous Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The professional design of the EB-388 is matched by its technology. Notable features include a special blue enamel coating on the oven’s large interior that repels just about everything, plus automatic pyrolytic self cleaning to guarantee that minimal cleaning is required after use.

Temperature control is very precise on the EB-388. It is regulated from 50 to 300ºC in 5ºC increments, which are clearly displayed on the digital clock, ensuring that nothing can be over or under cooked. A child safety lock on this appliance means that it is totally safe for family kitchens with young children.

Designed to be positioned at eye level for ease of use, the new EB-388 extra wide oven from Gaggenau has a drop down door for ease of access during cooking and powerful halogen lighting to illuminate the food inside.

Lofra Launches All-Electric Slot in Cooker

Italian cooker manufacturer, Lofra, has expanded its range of mirror polished stainless steel ‘slot in’ cookers with the introduction of the all-electric double oven cooker.

The new twin cavity cooker is available in both 60cm and 70cm widths and features an easy to clean ceramic hob, a large 66 litre, ‘A’ rated, multifunction oven offering 9 different cooking options, with a conventional 30 litre oven and grill above.

Features include tempered triple glazed oven doors with removable internal glass for easy cleaning, oven end timer, and a dual zone grill.

Both the top and bottom oven include a halogen light, and a rear exhaust vents cooking smells and steam during ‘closed door’ grilling.

And, because they come with ‘building in’ certification, the cookers can simply be slotted in between kitchen units to create a continuous and co-ordinated look without any gaps. The oven cavity is totally insulated from the side walls of the cooker, so it can be safely butted up against the existing units.

Height adjustable legs are fitted as standard, making the cooker easy to fit, and the 40mm deep hob top complements today’s standard worktops.

In addition, Lofra has launched a deluxe model in satin steel featuring programmable timer, catalytic liners, telescopic shelves and a rotisserie.

With their high quality finish, in mirror polished or satin stainless steel, with anti scratch hobs, the Lofra cookers offer aesthetic appeal as well as total reliability and, with a five year parts guarantee, peace of mind.

Introducing the New Electrolux Twin Clean

Electrolux says that c
yclonic or bagless cleaning offers some great benefits. You save money on bags - and have the convenience of never running out of them. No wonder they just keep on growing in popularity. However, there is a downside.

Ongoing, in-depth research - the driver of all product development by Electrolux - has highlighted two 'pet hates' which make cyclonic cleaning more of a hassle than it really needs to be:

First Moan - Filter handling. Which cyclonic or bagless cleaner owner hasn't had some moan about the hassle of cleaning the filter? Not the most pleasant job in the world - and definitely one to avoid if you are allergic to house dust. Washing the filter also means waiting for it to dry - and this is a big inconvenience for many of us who simply can not put up with 'vacuum cleaner' down time.

However - this need no longer be a problem. The Electrolux 'Twin Clean™' solution is simple: A filter which cleans itself.

The Electrolux Twin Clean™ has two filters installed. When the filter you are using is no longer working effectively, a light comes on to let you know. All you need to do is simply to swap the two filters around, so the used filter is in the 'to be cleaned' position. Then just one little twist and the machine automatically switches itself on and the cleaner sucks all the dust and dirt out of the filter straight into the dust container. Now you can carry on vacuuming with the newly cleaned filter, ready to swap when that gets dirty again.

Second Moan - Emptying The Dust Container: Electrolux research shows that many consumers find this process tricky and inconvenient - but they are prepared to put up with the hassle for the sake of 'going bagless'. That doesn't mean they like it.

Electrolux's Twin Clean™ offers a solution that removes this hassle: One-handed dust emptying. One action does it all, making emptying a piece of cake.

With the two biggest hassles of bagless cleaning eliminated Twin Clean™ then focuses on performance and ease of use.

Outstanding Cleaning Efficiency, remote control and automatic adjustment to floor type
A powerful 1800W motor combined with Max Pick-up motorised floor nozzle with automatic adjustment for hard floors or carpets ensures great cleaning results.
The motorised rotating brush deep-cleans and grooms carpets, removes stubbornly embedded pet hair - and polishes hard floors. The front and side suction is so powerful, if you were vacuuming flour you would see it being sucked before the cleaning head reached it. There is even a light on the nozzle - helpful when cleaning under low furniture and in dark corners.

Electrolux Twin Clean™ Z8840
* Patented Self Clean Filter system
* Easy empty 'one action' dust container
* 13m reach - so you don't need to constantly plug and unplug

Häfele Chilling Out

Häfele has launched a new collection of wine coolers, chiller cabinets and ice makers so that a cool drink in a hot kitchen is just a step away. Häfele is offering a wine cooler and chiller cabinet combination by new Slovenian principal Gorenje and a wine cooler and ice maker from Rangemaster. And there's also now a slimmer, 12 bottle wine cooler that's economical both on space and cost.

All are sleek, attractive additions to any kitchen and maintain wines at steady though adjustable temperatures and humidity controls prevent drying of corks. With a bottle capacity of around 50, the mainstream wine coolers are dimensioned at 870mm in height to fit a 600mm cabinet slot.

The new economy version measures only 300mm across to take advantage of those:awkward under-the-worktop spaces and it can also free-stand; each of the mbdels maintain temperatures in an ideal 5° to 18° C range and the larger capacity versions also feature UV controlled glass doors to enable easy identification of contents while at the same time avoiding possible light damage.

Having poured a drink, finding somewhere to keep it cool used to pose a problem. Now there is Häfele's chiller cabinet to keep things at perfect drinking temperature ... and not just for the odd glass of wine - for soft drinks in cans or bottles, and for fruit, cheese and many other day to day consumables for which fridges are too cold or too full.

A scotch from the chiller lacks that certain 'je ne sais quoi', even if it is the right temperature. For that you need ice. Now Häfele's new ice maker makes a never ending supply, perfectly formed and up to 5kgs every 24 hours. That's a lot of ice from such a slim cabinet - 864mm in height to match the wine cooler and drinks chiller but only 378mm in width. And it auto replaces as the ice is used - no topping up, no running out.

DTI309X 90cm 5 Zone Induction Start Control Induction Hob

Celebrating 25 years in the UK and Ireland, De Dietrich has introduced an expanded 2005 built-in range.

‘Induction technology, pioneered by De Dietrich, is the safest, most environmentally friendly and most cost efficient form of cooking.’ says the company. ‘Able to move from very low to very high temperature settings almost immediately with perfect heat diffusion, induction hobs will only heat up when an induction compatible pan is placed upon its surface. In turn, it cools down very quickly when the pan is removed. Because it is the pan that heats and not the hob, induction is extremely fast and cooks food at double the speed of gas. It is so safe that if you place a £20 note underneath your pan and cook your food, the note will remain unaffected!’

At 90cm wide, DTI309X is the largest hob in the De Dietrich range. Its spacious 5 cooking zones and 15 cooking levels per zone make it a good option for the serious cook. The central cooking zone at 28cm wide can accommodate most saucepans on the market today and as only the base of the pan heats up is completely safe regardless of size.

This hob also benefits from the De Dietrich 'Start Control' function which is designed for preparing and cooking recipes in advance. All the user has to do is set the required power, programme the necessary length of cooking time and the end cooking time and it will do the rest.

* 5 induction zones
* Sleek black glass - stylish, resilient and easy to clean
* Pedestal frame which is slightly concave to retain minor spills on the hob.
* Front touch controls - ease of use and extra safety
* 15 cooking levels per zone
* 3 direct access cooking levels per zone (7, 11, 15)
* Total hob power of 10.8kW
* 99 minute timer on all zones
* Front Left (16cm - 2200W); Front Right (23cm - 3200W); Back Left (23cm - 3200W); Back Right (16cm - 2200W); Central (28cm - 3600W)

FP229 'Easycook' Multifunction Pyrolytic Oven

The Brandt 2005 ovens range features this 'A' rated multifunction pyrolytic single oven with 8 cooking functions: fan, conventional eco, conventional, pulsed conventional, pulsed bottom element [bottom element plus fan], pulsed grill [grill and fan], variable grill and warming function. There is an electronic programmer with preset cooking temperatures to make life easier also.

The new Brandt patented 'Easycook' cooking system acts 'intelligently' to make cooking really simple. Just choose the dish required - i.e. pizza, poultry, pies, fish and beef and the oven will select all the parameters i.e. the right cooking function, shelf level, temperature and duration for successful cooking results.

The oven also benefits from the Brandt patented Grill+ feature. Once selected, the grill is automatically activated five minutes before the end of cooking to brown the food, ideal for cheese toppings. This grill is variable, which means that the grill automatically adjusts from the lightest to the most thorough grilling levels dependent on the level of heat required. It also has an eco function, which allows the user to reduce the level of energy used by 20% on the cooking and pyrolytic options.

As it is a pyrolytic oven, it can also intelligently clean itself. With four layers of glass on the 'cold door', which automatically locks during the pyrolytic function, the 52-litre cavity can heat up to a temperature of 500 degrees centigrade and quite literally disintegrate the dirt and grease from the oven to a fine ash, which can be easily wiped away.

It also features digital clock displays, a minute minder plus a full range of accessories (2 anti-tip wire shelves, baking tray, grill pan and handle).

DOV499X Stainless Steel Steam Oven - Super Quiet Steam Cooking

The De Dietrich 23 litre DOV499X steam oven with drop down door includes stylish and easy to use electronic controls with preset choice of temperatures for the best cooking results. Easy to install with no need for plumbing, there are four easy stages to using the steam oven; fill the water jar, set chosen temperature, set cooking time and press start. The De Dietrich model does not have a pump, therefore the water moves by gravity within the oven cavity and glides onto the hot element of the oven, producing the required steam. It means that cooking is much quieter.

It has 8 temperature settings between 55 and 100 degrees C, enabling the user to cook each food type at the best possible temperature/length of cooking time ratio to bring out the best flavour. Through steam cooking there is little or no risk of overcooking food or of flavours mixing.

For ease of cleaning, it contains a heating element that reduces steam condensation on the sides of the cavity so that a wipe of a sponge on the generator and bottom of the cavity is all that is required. Special Safety features include an audible cut-off alarm when the water jar is empty.

This appliance has electronic temperature controls that match the two other modular components in that comprise Collection 38: the DOP499X Multifunction Plus Pyroclean Oven and the DME499X fully built in Combination Microwave.

New Vario 400 Hobs Provide Variety of Cooking Solutions

If you can’t decide between gas & electricity for your new hob unit, luxury built-in kitchen appliance manufacturer Gaggenau has solved the dilemma by introducing a selection of both, namely the new Vario 400 series of matching built-in hob units.

‘Vario hobs are the ultimate solution to your cooking dilemma as they are designed to be built-in to the worktop in any combination, creating a professional cooking centre for your kitchen.’ says the company.

Made of a single mould of stainless steel for a streamlined appearance and elegant finish, Gaggenau’s new Vario 400 series measure a generous 40cm wide. Furthermore, the control knobs for these hobs are positioned separately in front of the appliance, thus providing even more room for your pots and pans on the appliance itself.

For total culinary flexibility, a tantalising selection of ten individual Vario hobs - incorporating both fuel options - is offered by this new collection. Choices available include an electric grill (VR 421), gas wok (VG 411), ceramic hob (VC 422), deep fryer (VF 411), steam cooker (VK 411), Induction wok (VI 411) and Teppan Yaki grill (VP 421).

The star of the show is the new Teppan Yaki grill (VP 421) delivering international cuisine to the domestic kitchen. Grill, fry, roast or cook using all or just half the smooth chrome surface for authentic Japanese style food in the comfort of your own home.

Also noteworthy is the Induction wok (VI 411) offering safe, energy saving cooking at an extremely fast rate. This new single ceramic hob is suitable for cooking all food types in a traditional ‘dished’ wok. What’s more, as the induction zone is flat, it creates a forum for Paella, curries and other popular dishes.

In all cases, Gaggenau recommends its brand of integrated direct extractor units for flush fitting in to the work surface, to subtly extract away any unwanted odours at source.

Gaggenau’s new Vario 400 series built-in hobs work in any configuration, enhancing the status of your kitchen with compact new cooking appliances for maximum impact. These new hobs can be combined with other stainless steel cooking appliances, such as ovens and microwaves, from Gaggenau’s prestigious built-in collection for 2005 and beyond.
