Don’t Be Left on the Shelf - Whirlpool Launches 90cm Cooling Drawer

Whirlpool's new double refrigeration drawers offer an alternative to traditional upright fridges. The 90cm wide appliance allows you to store items with ease and the layout means groceries are less likely to spoil as they are not tucked away in separate sections.

British shoppers throw out 30% of all the food they buy[1] and this can often be because ingredients are hidden from view by other items in the fridge. The cooling drawers mean you can see all your food in an instant thanks to the spacious open draw design, ensuring you never forget what ingredients you have available, to help you create mouth-watering meals night after night.

Key Features:
The 90cm wide horizontal layout and space management system allows you to load your food easily, whilst the removable trays, bottle basket and glass separators mean that you can customise the drawers to suit your own needs and individual style.

Whirlpool’s 6th Sense sensor technology restores temperature up to five times faster than a traditional fridge, so that after unpacking the shopping and loading into the cooling drawer the optimum temperature is restored swiftly.

The cooling drawer’s LCD display has the benefits of allowing you accurate temperature control.

The anti-bacterial filter and highly efficient air circulation work in harmony to protect food, avoid food contamination and not only prevent unpleasant odours but remove them too.

ZX6011Q Single Oven from ATAG

ATAG says that if cooking the perfect meal tends to stretch your brain just that little bit too far, then you need to take a close look at the advanced new ZX6011Q single oven from ATAG.

This new premium oven takes away all the stress of cooking food to perfection. Its Easy Cook automatic programmes cater for almost all common recipe types, at the push of a single button. Sensors calculate exactly the right temperature and cooking time - and even recommend the correct position in the oven.

A clear dot-matrix display, with both text and graphics, takes you through the programming process, so that even the most inexperienced or terminally fated cook can achieve perfect results first time, every time.

On top of that, there are 50 semi-automatic programs for specific dishes, based on weight rather than using the sensors. And, if you wish, you can programme the oven yourself with your very own favourite dishes using the Chef function.

The ZX6011Q has nine main oven functions (turbo hot air, top and bottom heat, turbo grill, maxi grill, keep-warm function and defrost) to cater for pretty well every eventuality, while the booster function provides ultra-rapid heat-up or restores the oven temperature very quickly if, for example, the door was opened during cooking. The temperature is also displayed to the nearest degree Centigrade, helping to ensure the most precise cooking conditions you can achieve.

With two pyrolytic functions, eco and normal, the oven even cleans itself while you put your feet up after cooking, too. It automatically registers the level of use and soiling from cooking residues, and will suggest when to start the pyrolysis cycle. Even better, it can also be programmed for off-peak energy use.

Talking of energy, you can feel virtuous about the environment at the same time, as the ZX6011Q attracts the highest possible A rating for energy usage.

Needless to say, safety features strongly. A quadruple-glazed door is as cool as possible to the touch - even when the pyrolytic function is in operation.

It also goes without saying that the ZX6011Q has ATAG's renowned high quality of design and construction - that's why a full five-year warranty is available with every appliance.

Extra Large Load Washing Machines Save Energy and Time

The launch of the company's new range of large capacity washing machines is Servis UK’s response to the growing trend amongst consumers for increased volume and less frequent washes. By extending its range to include the even larger 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 kg washing machines Servis says that it firmly positions itself at the forefront of the competitive mid-market.

With the new 8.5kg washer offering a load capacity up to 70% bigger than a standard 5kg wash load, these new machines – with their energy and time saving benefits - are designed not only for the modern family but also for the environmentally-conscious consumer.

A choice of 19 wash programmes will satisfy most consumer washing needs including washing duvets, sleeping bags or any bulky items. Wash progression lights monitor the progress of the wash and a stylish aluminium porthole gives the new range a distinctive design edge.

Gill Hewitson, Marketing Manager, comments, 'UK consumers now recognise that larger capacity drums can cut running costs in the modern home; larger loads mean fewer washes therefore greater energy efficiency. By increasing our drum size we will be able to pass on greater savings to our customers.'

Giving Kitchens A Vision

The Hoover Candy Group has announced its first foray into the premium market with the company’s matte black Hoover products - the VisionHD 8kg washing machine, VisionOne dishwasher and the HooverCool fridge freezer. Created by Hoover to be sold as a set, the company says that the Black Collection whose matte black finish won't show fingerprints, will be the talking point of any kitchen.

‘The new Hoover Vision Collection is redefining white goods to offer consumers the latest in appliance fashion while staying true to the iconic Hoover status by including features which offer real benefits and practical technology.

‘Designed by one of Audi's interiors designers, HooverCool goes beyond a mere style statement. Saying goodbye to the standard boxy fridge freezer design, HooverCool has a wave-front door and straight chrome handle running the full length of the matte black fridge freezer. HooverCool is unlike any other product on the market and not only looks good, but comes with the best features available.’

The Dairy Cellar, a dedication to cheese lovers, is a fixed compartment with a stable temperature and moisture control for fresh and seasoned cheeses. The 45-litre XL Fruit and Veg Storage keeps a week's worth of fruit and vegetables fresh and moisture controlled, and the Versatile Wine Rack allows users to keep a selection of chilled white wines at the ready. An XL Bottle Storage stores plenty of 2-litre bottles in the fridge, and a specially designed freezer door stores pizza and holds a special area for a drink bottle that requires extra-low temperatures like vodka or gin.

The VisionOne 15-place setting dishwasher is the newest dishwasher from Hoover and has just been awarded the Waterwise Marque from the UK's leading authority on water efficiency, Waterwise, for its water and energy efficient benefits.

With the VisionOne dishwasher, Hoover moves away from the standard external aesthetics of a dishwasher with a new design. It has central programming controls, display and handles, and the matte black finish, making the VisionOne a more modern proposition in the market.

The first dishwasher with dual vertical grip handles, the VisionOne can be opened with total ease using the left or right hand, and it includes an improved basket design so consumers can wash larger and non-standard shaped plates in an adjustable central rack. With the Hygiene+ cycle, water temperatures remain at 75 degrees Celsius throughout the entire cycle so consumers are assured of a super hygienic wash. Triple A efficiency and easy to use LED display round out the line-up of sophisticated features on the VisionOne.

Completing the matte black Vision collection is the Hoover VisionHD washing machine, an 8kg machine designed with a larger and raised porthole for easy loading and unloading, and a central programming dial suitable for both left- and right-handed consumers.

The VisionHD incorporates a new drum technology from the Hoover Candy Group. The group has utilised a special expansion process to give the new Hoover drum its unique semi-conical shape, which increases the drum diameter to 50cm. This allows Hoover to offer consumers a massive load size without increasing the depth of the washing machine, which means the machine does not extend beyond the standard kitchen work surface.

The totally redesigned drum uses a 3D Dynamic Wash System - the HydroPressure system, HydroPaddles and raised HydroDome profiles - to move laundry in a three-dimensional way, thereby providing the dynamics that ensure clothes are washed to the optimum performance.

The HydroPressure system consists of smaller and more numerous holes throughout the drum, which achieves a higher water pressure for an all round better cleaning performance, and enables improved water extraction during the spin cycle.
The raised HydroDome profiles increase water circulation and stop clothes from clinging to the sides of the drum during the wash cycle - giving a more effective wash action and reducing creasing of clothes. The convex shape of the HydroDome profiles also improves water distribution and extraction throughout the wash cycle.
Finally, the curved HydroPaddles work with the Hydrodome profiles to manoeuvre the laundry into the centre of the drum for better wash results. The carefully positioned holes on the HydroPaddles help to disperse the water more effectively throughout the wash cycle.

Steve Holton, marketing and strategic planning director, Hoover Candy Group, says, ‘This is the first time we've offered such a highly stylised collection of appliances and we wanted to make a big impression. The combination of Audi-inspired designs on the HooverCool plus the advanced features across the trio of appliances guarantees that the Black Collection will be a hit amongst our target market.’

The Hob Choice for the Eco-Conscious

Whirlpool has a range of 18 hobs including induction models available in 60cm and 70cm widths.

Electric induction hobs are not only as fast and reactive as gas hobs but shave minutes off gas cooking times because the pan is heated, not the hob. This means they are the most energy efficient hob choice on the market, thanks to the fact that no fuel is wasted on unnecessary heating. With attractive appearances and easy-to-clean glass surfaces there has been a recent surge in interest in induction hobs – traditionally people’s choice was influenced by fuel type, with gas being the preferred option for most.

ATAG' s Perfect Puzzle - Freedom to Design your Own Cooking Centre

For the cook who's puzzling over how to equip their kitchen with a single large hob surface that will cope with all the demands they're likely to throw at it, the new modular 'domino' hobs from ATAG fit the bill.

Constructed to the same ultra-high standards for which it's renowned, ATAG's modular domino hobs enable customers to select any or all of the five hob options available, so they can tailor their cooking requirements to their exact capabilities or style - and then site them where it's most convenient for them or their kitchen layout. They can even opt for multiple units of the same type if they like! Think of it as a kind of jigsaw puzzle - but with fewer pieces than usual, and there might even be two or more pieces the same!

Whether a customer's preference is to cook with standard gas, ceramic hob, ceramic grill, wok or a 'naughty-but-nice' deep fryer, ATAG's modular hob range is sure to satisfy almost any hob-top cooking scheme they can conjure up.

Looking at the options in more detail, there's a two-zone ceramic hob featuring one dual heat zone and one standard zone featuring ATAG's 'Cook light' technology. There are nine power levels for precise control over cooking speed, and an overheating safety device.

For fans of gas cooking the two-burner gas hob features ATAG's renowned celebrities, the company's 'A' listed burners. All ATAG hobs have 'A' burners, which means they guarantee fast, efficient and controllable cooking. The compact design ensures the high capacity is concentrated and directed to the base of the utensil, delivering faster heating times. There is a sturdy enamelled cast-iron pan support, one standard and one high-speed burner incorporated into a stainless-steel drip tray; safety and single-handed ignition is integrated into the controls. And maintaining the gas hob is not a fiddly maintenance headache - the burners are all one piece and therefore there is no reassembling and matching after cleaning and the burner caps are finished in ATAG's Flex-enamel coating which makes them easy to clean.

Devotees of Chinese and Asian-style cooking may want to select the gas hob with wok burner, which comes with a powerful two-flame burner with enamelled cast-iron support specifically designed for a wok with rounded bottom. Again, spark ignition is integrated for simplicity and ease of use.

Those customers at the healthy-cooking end of the spectrum will see the ceramic grill as an absolute 'must' for fat-free cooking of meat and vegetables.

But for those who really can't keep away from deep-fried food, or simply like to treat themselves to a traditional fry-up now and again, the 3.5-litre-capacity deep fryer will surely have to form one of the key pieces in the extra-large hob jigsaw.

Frying really has never been so convenient. There's a thermostatic control for temperature and safety, and a drain cock at the bottom for easy removal of used oil. It's topped with a black glass lid that looks good, while keeping smells in and foreign objects out. In combination with one of ATAG's high-powered extraction hoods to whisk away the frying odours, no one need ever know you have a fryer at all!

Ellis Bardsley, Business Development Director says: 'This is an incredible range that complement each other flawlessly. They are ideal for the consumer who wishes to have the look and the professional requirements to meet their demands. Flexibility and creativity are essential for the premium market and ATAG aims to deliver inspiration as well as aspiration! The depth of range means you can puzzle-up any combination to suit the space or match consumers‚ aspirational desires; ATAG delivers style, substance and performance, a great alternative for the consumer, and for the Kitchen Specialist looking for that USP!

'With ATAG, you always know to expect something out of the ordinary. But that's because our approach to kitchen appliances is somewhat unusual too. For a start, we always design our products up to a specification, rather than down to a price. That means our quality standards are way above the norm - which is why we can offer a decidedly other-worldly five-year warranty on our appliance range.'

Britannia Fills Gap in Market with New 110cm Width

With Britannia launching its very first 110cm width range cooker this month, the company says that sales - as well as cooker widths - will be expanding.

The 110cm XG will be available across three of Britannia's most prestigious designs - the Sigma, Dynasty and Classic, and has been prompted by demand amongst retailers and customers, primarily those in the replacement market.

The new design also comes on the back of the successful launch of the 100cm XG range in September 2005, which was Britannia's first range cooker to incorporate a separate grill compartment and continues to sell phenomenally well thanks to the appeal and versatility of its configuration.

Across all three models, the 110 cm XG will offer the high specification for which Britannia ranges are known, including a 60cm nine function oven, a 40cm four function oven with rotisserie, Quickstart fast pre-heat system and a fully automatic programmer and minute minder. It shall also become the only range cooker of its width to offer the Chef Top hotplate, alongside six gas burners.

Henneke Duistermaat, Director of Marketing at Britannia, comments: ‘As with the car owner who looks to upgrade his existing model when it comes to the end of its lifespan, most consumers will look to replace their old cooker with a better specified and higher quality model. As such there is a real demand at the top end of the market for quality replacement ranges, especially at the 110cm width.’

She continues: ‘Our new 110cm XG model then should fill this gap in every sense. It offers customers the quality and specification of Britannia at the 110cm width and retailers a product they can confidently sell.’

The 110cm XG will complement the existing 100cm XG and Britannia's standard range cookers, which come in widths of 90cm, 100cm, 120cm and 150cm. It is priced at £3,799, with matching AG and K7088 hoods costing £1,179 and £659 respectively.

Aga Launch 'One of the Most Significant New Models in Recent Times'

Since April 2007, the Electric Aga - which runs on a standard 13-amp connection – has been offered with the option of the Aga Intelligent Management System (AIMS).

The system means consumers are able to adjust the temperature of their Aga to suit their lifestyle.

AIMS is a sophisticated - but easy to use - program, which allows you to adjust the output of your Aga to suit your way of life. In short, it means that your Aga can sleep when you sleep and only operate at normal power when you need it. It can be fitted to all 13-amp Electric heat-storage models and it is operated by a simple and stylish remote - control handset.

The AIMS program is ultimately flexible - it is supplied pre-set, with two active periods each day. In this mode, your Aga will be at normal temperature ready to cook breakfast in the morning, drop down to a lower temperature during the day and then return to normal temperature ready to prepare dinner in the evening. After dinner, the system automatically enters 'slumber' mode, its lowest temperature.

But you can easily program your 13-amp heat-storage Aga to perform exactly as you need it. For those days when you are not planning on using your Aga in the morning, for example, you can over-ride the default settings and choose two completely different cooking times.

Alternatively, you could, of course, have it running at 'normal' temperature all day - perhaps if you were planning on doing a lot of baking or wanted to raise the ambient temperature of the kitchen over a winter weekend. The system can also be set to 'holiday' mode, which will keep the Aga on either the lowest energy setting (or off) during the selected dates, before automatically restarting in time for the family's arrival back home.

This setting allows for full day/month/year selection to allow for longer holidays and any program setting can easily be overridden by the simple pressing of a button on the Aga itself.

The new Aga Intelligent Management System - which is available as an option on all 13-amp heat-storage Electric Agas - also makes financial sense at an additional cost of just £300 including VAT.
