Candy Brings High-End Technology to the Mass Market

Candy has introduced a new induction hob - the Candy PVI 640 C. The company says that the newest addition to the Candy range of kitchen appliances offers consumers the latest cooking technology that is environmentally friendly, energy efficient, fast and safe, all at a price point accessible to a broader, often first-time buying market.

Induction technology is unique in that it is ‘green’ (energy efficient) fast and safe.

With induction technology the heat is generated by the interaction of a magnetic field with the ferrous content of the pan. Energy is transferred directly into the pan so there is no heat loss - the pan becomes the generator of the cooking heat. This technology has been growing in popularity but most consumers are put off by the high price. Candy says that it is the first manufacturer to change the market positioning of induction cooking by offering this model.

The 60cm frameless Candy induction hob comes with digital, soft-touch controls and four induction zones including a powerful, 3 kW booster zone.

The hob also features a timer and safety lock.

The PVI 640 C responds twice as fast as other hobs and gives consumers a minimum 26% saving on energy costs by supplying heat directly and evenly to the pan unlike gas or electric hobs where energy is first converted to heat and then only directed to the pan. The lower levels of heat radiated from induction hobs in the cooking area mean that consumers also enjoy a cooler kitchen.

The induction hob base remains cool to the touch during cooking as only the contents of the pan are heated. The reduced surface temperature makes the Candy induction hob an ideal kitchen appliance for consumers with young children as they need not worry about burned fingers or hands. Furthermore, the child safety lock on the induction hob prevents little fingers from adjusting temperature or cooking times, or worse yet, turning on the heat zones.

Consumers can install their easy-to-clean Candy induction hob above an oven or utensil drawer. There are no parts to remove or difficult nooks and crannies to negotiate when it comes to cleaning. Food spills will not get burnt on the stovetop because the induction zones and surrounding areas remain cool at all times.

Heather England, Marketing Manager, Built-In Division, Hoover Candy Group says, ‘We are extremely delighted to introduce the Candy induction hob. It offers consumers top-end modern technology at a price point aimed to a wider market, often young, first-time buyers, but also those with limited budgets wishing to adopt the newest technology in their kitchens.’

In conjunction with the launch of the Candy induction hob, Hoover Candy is offering a special spring sale promotion. The introductory offer price is approximately £299 to trade customers and consumers will also get a free, top of the range set of five induction hob saucepans. The promotion is valid from 2nd April – 30th June 2007.

Internally both models have been designed with versatility and practicality in mind to maximise interior space. Both feature four safety glass shelves, a wine rack, two bottle shelves and two dairy compartments. To provide lasting protection against bacteria and the safest possible storage environment for food both models also feature an anti-bacterial protection made from silver a natural anti-bacterial agent.

All Electric Appeal with Stoves Richmond 1100E

Due to the popularity of its 900mm electric model, Stoves has widened its Richmond range cooker collection to include an advanced all electric 1100mm induction model that gives even more versatility to its range cooker package.

Available in both classic champagne or black finishes, the striking looks of the Richmond 1100E combine aesthetic impact with the sophisticated functions consumers are on the look out for.

Featuring a choice of four ovens - Multifunction, fanned, conventional with a grill and Slow Cook - plus a ceramic hotplate with four induction and two radiant elements, and a handy warming zone, this latest Richmond model is ideal for customers wanting increased flexibility, controllability, speed and efficiency from their cooker.

The advanced induction technology incorporated into the Richmond 1100E hob is fast enough to boil a pan of water around twice as fast as most gas wok burners and halogen elements. And, as the induction zones of the Richmond 1100E are only activated when an iron based pan is placed on it - and not at the touch of other objects, such as hands - it is also the perfect choice for families.

The new 1100E sits alongside the existing 900mm electric and dual fuel models, and 1000mm and 1100mm dual fuel versions, to complete the Richmond range cooker collection.

ATAG's Induction Gas On Glass Hob

ATAG has introduced the new IG9071MTF hob from the company's premium Magna Line. Combining a 90cm-wide induction hob with inset gas wok burner, the IG9071 is a unique hob that gives you the best of both worlds - the acknowledged speed of induction technology, with the individuality and flexibility of wok cooking.

Aesthetically, it's a head-turner too, the striking black glass finish being complemented by high-quality stainless-steel trim to form a real centrepiece in the kitchen.

The 5.7kW gas wok burner gives you all the power you'll ever need for getting the wok as hot as possible, as quickly as possible, while a thermo-electric safety device cuts off the gas if the flame should be extinguished at any time.

Meanwhile, the induction hob features four zones of 2800W each - all with touch-sensitive controls and offering 12 power levels. Programmable auto-cook and a switch-off timer functions apply to all zones. And as a bonus, the IG9071 comes with special induction-compatible saucepans (induction technology requires pans with a high ferrous content in order to work effectively).

Safety is a prime concern too. A child-safe lock prevents children (or perhaps even the cat) accidentally activating the touch controls, while a residual-heat indicator on all four zones alerts you when a zone has recently been used.

Nor is the IG9071MTF a space-waster - with a depth of just 4.8cm installed, you'll be able to make the maximum use of any kitchen unit space below.

Ellis Bardsley, Business Development Director concludes: ‘ATAG is the pure alternative for the kitchen specialist, and they can rest assured that it is exclusively for them. With products like our unique induction hob, with its powerful gas wok burner, emphasise the depth of innovation, bring creativity of design, and at the same time creating a fantastic functional appliance, addressing the every need of the discerning consumer. This is just one of the many powerful appliances from the ATAG range and there are many, many new and inspirational products to be delivered to the market in 2007.’

Sensational in Silver - The New Electrolux Insight Induction Hob EHD72100X

Electrolux has introduced the first silver look induction hob for sensational styling in the kitchen. Ergonomically designed, this 72cm frameless hob offers the very latest in hob technology - induction cooking, zones with individual timers, automatic settings and safety cut off feature.

Induction: Fast, Safe and very Easy to Clean

Induction hobs use an electromagnetic coil beneath the cooking zones to create an induction field which heats the metal pan on the hob. As heat is not used, the hob itself never gets hot, only the pan. The benefits of induction cooking are many: instant heat and unrivalled speed: water, for example, boils three times more quickly with induction; it is highly responsive and can move from low to high temperature very quickly; it is safer - as the hob never heats up. It is energy efficient - it only operates when the pan is on it - and cleaning is easy as nothing bakes on.

Electrolux Insight EHD72100X
• 72cm Silver look frameless induction hob
• Stunning new design
• Advanced touch control for precise control
• Electronic Timers for each zone for greater time management
• Stop 'n' go for great convenience

• Auto Select function will bring the contents to the boil and revert to the setting selected
• To save energy and for safety an Auto Shut off function will automatically switch off zones which have been left on for a long time.

30% of Brits Hiding Under Filthy Sheets

30% of people in the UK do not wash their bed linen often enough to rid them of bacteria and bed bugs, a survey by washing machine manufacturer Electra has shown. Industry experts recommend that sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases should be changed once a week and washed at 60ºC to kill any unwanted occupants.

People in the south west of England proved to have the cleanest beds, with 83% washing their bed linen at least once a week. The survey suggests that those in the east midlands are the least concerned about dirty sheets, 41% of people from this region did not change their sheets every week.

Men living alone take great pride in the hygiene of their beds. 47% of those surveyed wash their bed linen once a week, 20% every other day and 2% stripped the bed every day!

With the warm summer months upon us, Electra is urging consumers to get the washing line up and wash their sheets every week. Marketing Manager Gill Hewitson adds; ‘It is particularly important for those with dust allergies and asthma to change their bed linen once a week. This sounds a chore, but the introduction of large load washing machines means a whole family's sheets can be done in one wash.’

The Electra E6860 8.5kg washing machine washes a full double bed set and two single bed sets all in one load. This large load capacity not only saves time but money - using approximately 52 litres less water than a standard 5kg washing machine. The Electra E6860 also features a large 30cm porthole, making the loading and unloading of bed linen easier with minimal creasing.
