Adminex Oasis Introduces Entry Level Four Piece Bathroom Set

Witham-based Adminex Oasis has introduced the Satra suite consisting of WC pan and cistern and washbasin and pedestal as a quality entry level product for distributors and merchants.

The Satra is the first of a range of modern European style WC pans and cisterns plus basins and pedestals to be announced by Adminex Oasis. Its simple, clean lines and quality finish make it suitable for merchant sales, contract installations or as a value-for-money showroom set.

There is a choice of 500mm or 550mm washbasins with either the single-tap hole favoured on the continent or the two tap-hole configuration preferred by 50% of UK households. The Adminex Oasis Satra WC pan comes complete with fixing kit and the close-coupled cistern is supplied with all fittings. The WC pan has a boxed rim - a feature that can be sold-on as ensuring better flushing and more hygienic cleaning. The flushing mechanism for the cistern has three- and six-litre push buttons.

Adminex Oasis is able to supply part, or complete bathroom Satra sets within seven working days as the Essex supplier knows that it needs to react rapidly to distributors and merchants. Alape Custom Mades: Expert Partners for Individual Washplace Solutions

Over a period of more than 10 years, Alape, the Germany-based enabler of individual bathroom architecture, has gained experience in the planning, design and implementation of project-specific washroom solutions. In its 'Custom Mades' division, Alape enables architects and planners to create individual washplace solutions and made to order special designs. Advice and project management is provided by the company's independent customer service department.

All of Alape's project-related washplace solutions are based on washbasins produced by the company itself, completed with washstand counters, mirrors, lights and accessories, as well as Alape's own range of washroom furniture. The company works with every material relevant to quality washplace design, such as glassed and stainless steel, aluminium, wood, glass, natural stone, marble, granite and mineral-matter solid surfaces. Even in difficult or unusual spaces, Alape comes up with a solution, finding fitting homes for every component of the washplace, appropriate to its intended use.

Alape enables customers to create individual solutions, even when working with products from the company's standard range of washstands. These are made of glassed steel - a compound made of a steel body that is both strong and light at the same time, and a high quality, homogenous glass surface. Alape says that thanks to the surface's special thin layer technology, glassed steel is resistant to knocks and scratches, brightly coloured, long-lasting and totally hygienic. This material is characterised by its surface quality of space and precision. As a result, glassed steel offers purity of form. Washstands made of glassed steel can be individually altered for each project. Even if only one item is being manufactured, dimensions and basin positions can be varied, and items can be produced in any RAL colour, with tap fittings and lotion dispensers in a wide variety of different positions.

Alape works with designers in a spirit of partnership, helping them to turn their ideas into reality. Testament to Alape's capability in this area is given by the example of the Post-Tower project, Deutsche Post World Net's main administrative building in Bonn/ Germany. This special creation - a totally different kind of washplace, because of it's very flat, stainless steel design - was produced by Alape in 2002 and awarded the Innovation Prize for Architecture and Technology in 2003.

Another example can be found in the Berlin Sony Centre. The office of Murphy/Jahn Architects of London and Chicago commissioned Alape to create washrooms for Sony's European headquarters in Berlin/ Germany. Clear geometric shapes in steel and glass characterise this concept washplace, reflecting the deliberate transparency of the Sony Centre's architecture.

Alape was founded in 1896, and produces high quality bathroom fittings of wood and metal. The company supplies everything from individual components such as built-in and surface-mounted washbasins and complete units such as washstands, mirrors and furniture systems, to whole vanity units and washrooms for private and public use. Alape employs some 200 people on two production sites in Goslar, and has been a member of the Dornbracht Group since 2001.

An End to the Design vs. Cost Balancing Act

You’ve faced the same scenario dozens of times says Thomas Dudley Ltd. In order to obtain the look you have in your mind, you need to specify Product A. However, budgetary restrictions mean you have to compromise the finished design by specifying the more cost-effective Product B.

Concealed cisterns are nothing new and specification of back-to-wall WC pans adds enormously to the aesthetic appearance of a bathroom – be it in an executive residential development, hotel or commercial washroom. However, traditional models have brought with them two major drawbacks.

The first is the need to cut access/inspection covers in the form of either lift up or lift out lids into the bathroom vanity top. These are often constructed from perspex or plastic – colour matched to the vanity top. Hardly ideal.

The second drawback is that the cutting of holes in the vanity top, needed to house the access lids, and the on-site assembly of the cistern itself, are very time consuming for the plumber/installer. With the Construction Industry Training Board forecasting a required additional 6,000 plumbers qualified to NVQ Level 3 per year, for the next five years, rising installation costs are becoming an important consideration in many projects.

Thomas Dudley Ltd (TDL), the Midlands based manufacturer, has launched its new ‘Vantage’ concealed cistern, with the objective of overcoming these two problem areas. Firstly, the Vantage comes with front access. This enables simple installation and maintenance via a removable front panel. The cistern is then hidden behind fitted bathroom furniture, in the same way kitchen appliances are hidden behind unit doors. This leaves continuous vanity tops which are free from unsightly inspection covers and lids.

TDL has also developed the product with the shortage of skilled plumbers firmly in mind. Several time saving features have been incorporated to minimise installation time and the resulting costs. The Vantage is supplied factory assembled, removing the need for the plumber to build up and position the float valve and flush valve on site. Snap-fit fixing brackets are supplied, and once screwed in place, the cistern is simply clipped in. A Speedfit elbow is provided as standard allowing instant connection of the water inlet pipe, and the 90 degree tight radius bend flushpipe allows installation at low levels (cistern can be installed under 800mm high units).

The Vantage will fit neatly into 500mm wide bathroom units but it also features a top access panel – making it a suitable choice for specification behind partitions and walls and for use in other confined spaces. The cistern is operated by a pneumatic push button for the latest look and is fitted with the new Dudley Hydroflo float valve for an exceptionally quiet after-flush fill.

The Vantage is available to the trade through most leading plumbers’ merchants.
