A Doc M Range with a High Degree of Design Detail

From contemporary grab rails to space-maximising WCs, VitrA's range of special needs bathroom products offers design detail.

Taking inspiration from the inclusive environments found in luxury hotels and restaurants, VitrA has developed a range of products that are not only high on function, but also high on form.

Among new pieces added to the company's range are chrome grab rails and chrome trimmed back-rests that help create the visual contrast required for the partially sighted. A wall-hung WC that frees up floor space has also been added, allowing better access for cleaning and creating a sleeker, more modern look while still conforming to LANTAC specifications.

All pieces in the comprehensive range comply with regulations and can be used with other basins from VitrA's main range to create an attractive, as well as an inclusive, environment.

Bohle has that Xtra Factor When it Comes to Hanging Mirrors

Bohle has shown it is the best at hanging around – with mirrors that is - with the addition of the Xtragrip mirror adhesive to the Xtra range of mirror hanging products.

Xtragrip is a high performance flexible mirror adhesive available at an economical price, positioned to sit below the Bohle branded mirror adhesive for sales and applications that are more price sensitive

'The Xtra range includes several mirror hanging solutions, such as tapes, adhesives, concealed hanging systems and also mirror-backing products,' explained Bohle UK managing director Gary Dean. 'Buyers will recognise the qualities that all Xtra products share, including ease of use, high performance, and value for money.

'A key issue is that the Xtra brand is being developed as a standalone from the Bohle name, allowing the retailing of these products while still enjoying the confidence of buying from Bohle. Our trade counter customers can sell Xtra as their own range and expect strong repeat sales.'

Until the end of the year Bohle is offering a special offer introductory price for Xtragrip. Further details are available from Bohle by calling the Bohle Sales Line free on 0800 61 61 51.

Duravit Ciottolo - Sculptures for the Bathroom by Sieger Design

'Anyone who previously considered beautiful works of art to be the privilege of public galleries and museums can now turn their own home into an exhibition gallery,’ says Duravit.

‘Now, Duravit is also transforming the bathroom into a showroom - with Ciottolo, the washbasin sculptures by Sieger Design - bringing grandeur and glamour to bathrooms and cloakrooms.

No formal airs and graces, no added extras or frills, Ciottolo traces the flowing transition from pebble (ciotto, Italian for pebble) to washbowl, from water droplet to bathroom basin.

The simple sculpture seems to rest weightlessly on the graceful console, elevating the washbasin to a work of art.’

The washbasins come in three different designs: as a circular washbowl, shaped like a droplet and as an oval washbowl.

The colour choice has been kept to elegant white with one exception: as the highlight of the product family, the circular washbowl is also available in platinum, a high-quality and new precious-metal glaze.

Three furniture options act as a display plinth: a console, a wall-mounted vanity unit with one or two box drawers or a floor-standing unit with two or four.

The furniture is available in a choice of real wood veneers in ice birch and high-gloss palisander, with a special coating to protect the exotic wood surface from humidity.

The ensembles can be complemented by two accessories. Chrome-plated towel rails on the right and/or left keep towels ready for use.

A mirror element with attractive light panels at the sides shows off the sanitary sculpture and its patron to their best advantage.

New Wellness Range from Moods

The rising demand for whirlpool bathing systems has led Moods Bathrooms to extend its bath collection to include the Wellness Whirlpool System. The new system can be factory fitted to all baths within the Moods range - including free-standing, space-saving and corner baths.

Known for its therapeutic properties, whirlpool baths are becoming a popular consumer choice - and not just for a niche market as previously. And as Sally Hough of Moods, highlights: 'With the whirlpool bath now an affordable luxury, why not offer to customers as an optional extra when choosing their choice of bath from the range of over 30 baths in the Moods Collection?’

Available as a Standard or a Luxury System, the Wellness Whirlpool System combines water and air to provide a powerful massage to relax or invigorate. Six white, variable jets located in the sides of the bath only, are controlled via an easy to use control panel, also in white which sits unobtrusively on the side of the bath.

The Luxury System substitutes the white finish of the jets and controls with a chrome effect - for a sleeker and more contemporary look. In addition, the Luxury option includes a fast draining, designer vortex waste system, washing away waste water efficiently and hygienically.

The Wellness Whirlpool System comes with a 2-year guarantee and for further information, contact Moods Bathrooms on Tel: 01204 707070 or http://www.bathroom-moods.com

Happy D. from Duravit Now with New Real Wood Bath Panels

The typical character of the Happy D range from Sieger Design and Duravit is the clear D-shape profile, whose classic-archaic lines run through the entire bathroom range. From ceramics to baths and shower trays, from bathroom furniture to accessories.

‘From the 176 cm tall cabinet to a whole line-up of mirrors and mirror cabinets, from an illuminated shelf unit with two glass shelves to a container on casters with removable tray, the extensive modular and solo-item furniture range leaves no desire unfulfilled.’ Says the company.

Furniture washbasins measuring 65, 80 and 100 cm and complemented by matching vanity units with curved doors, as well as the assortment of washing area solutions, play a leading role in the Happy D. range.

Choose from a simple console or combination with pull-out compartments as well as vanity units with doors or drawers and plain chrome handles.

These can be complemented by soloists such as the 40 cm-wide bowl plus vanity unit with curved doors in Zebrano real-wood striped finish or in deep brown Macassar. The link from bowl to vanity unit is solved with a narrow, all-round chrome rail.

A touch of nature for the bathroom
‘If you want to relax after a busy day, you will find a ‘happy ending’ in the comfortable baths featuring air and jet systems as well as the soothing coloured lighting module.’ Says Duravit.

‘The perfect geometry of all Happy D. bath tub models ensures maximum interior dimensions for luxurious happy bathing. The comfortable 28 degree sloping backrest and generous tub depth of 46 cm guarantee a relaxed sitting position and plenty of freedom of movement.’

Especially developed for the free-standing Happy D. bath tub, beautifully grained real-wood bath panels to complement the furniture finishes now provide a real focal point in a choice of American cherry, American walnut and Sycamore (Decor).

The seamlessly moulded, easy-to-assemble apron has straight sides and harmonises with the bath.

‘Those who want to get fit for the day simply step into the Happy D.shower tray with new real-glass shower partition for a refreshing pick-me-up.’

Successful Market Launch of the Cono Family

The market launch of the Kaldewei Cono family of baths and shower trays by Sottsass Associati’s Milan studios, which was presented for the first time at the ISH 2005, was successful.

The product range of the Conoplan shower tray will therefore be extended in mid October to include further dimensions. Two further designs of 90 x 90 x 2.5 and 100 x 100 x 2.5 cm respectively are being added to the current range of 90 x 120 cm, which is available with or without moulded panelling. Both new products are also available with moulded panelling if desired.

One special feature of the Conoplan family of shower trays is the enamelled outlet covering, which further enhances the clear geometric design.

There are two installation options for Conoplan: it can be flush-fit at tile level so there is no threshold, or – with the moulded panelling – fitted directly on top of the tiled floor. This shower tray in Kaldewei steel enamel is also available with the self-cleaning pearl effect.

The successful market launch coincided with Conoplan winning two highly coveted design awards: the Design Council awarded this new shower tray the coveted DesignPlus prize at the ISH, and the Design Centre NRW presented Conoplan with the red dot for high design quality.

Paiova Corner Bath from Duravit Now with Real Wood Panelling

Instead of sitting face to face, the Paiova (pair) corner bath from Duravit invites you to lie back and relax side by side. With your head reclining on the comfortable neckrests, unwind and enjoy a home movie together at the foot end on the matching Paiova container on casters with its practical box drawers.

The wide bath rim on the right and left is perfect for resting a wineglass or a candle. At the side, a raised step in three different sizes facilitates getting in and out of the bath. And inside the bath, adjustable air and jet systems and the Duravit coloured lighting module with five integrated spotlights set in the rim of the bath are the perfect culmination of your bathtime enjoyment ‘à deux’.

Those who can't get enough can restore their spirits afterwards in the 140 cm wide shower area, which is also plenty big enough for two.

The pleasure is not reserved only for couples; singles, too, can enjoy total bathtime bliss in the above-mentioned luxurious dimensions of 140 cm at the head end and 68 cm at the foot end and a length of 180 cm. There is also plenty of room for the kids to enjoy an XXL bath party.

And for smaller bathrooms, there is an XS version measuring 130 x 62 cm with a length of 170 cm. Dimensions - and design - that also allow the Paiova corner bath to be optimally integrated into bathrooms with less space to play with.

The Paiova corner bath combines with other bathroom furniture ranges, blending in to form a harmonious ensemble. This is because of the classic white of the bath and choice of wood finishes on the panelling. These are now complemented by smooth Maple, highly grained Olive Ash, American walnut and deep brown Macassar real wood veneers - to coordinate with the Fogo bathroom furniture range.

Architec range by Duravit

Duravit says that the Architec range combines sophisticated design with functionality and impresses planners and fitters alike with sanitaryware products to answer a wide range of needs and problems.

Prof. Frank Huster - architect, designer and lecturer - developed the Architec ceramics range for Duravit in 1994. Its attractive, no-fuss form with the characteristic round washbasin quickly became a much-loved classic.

Initially conceived for the semi-public and public sectors, Architec has also become a popular choice for private bathrooms.

This leitmotive also applies to the latest Architec washbasin models. In combination with a variety of different materials, the countertop basins, undercounter basins and console basins allow you to design individual washing areas, making them suitable for creating flexible bathroom solutions.

Countertop basins
The round basin has a sweeping outer rim that at the same time provides an optical link to the countertop. The new fully glazed built-in washbasin is available in diameters 33.5 cm and 40 cm - with overflow - and 45 cm and 50 cm - without overflow.

Undercounter basins
Thanks to the basin's purist shape, the countertop and undercounter washbasin combine to form a harmonious ensemble. Fully glazed on the outside, the four diameters 27.5 cm and 32.5 cm - with overflow - as well as 37.5 cm and 42.5 cm - without overflow - offer plenty of scope for individual washing area design.

Console basins
The basic square surround almost invisibly incorporates the characteristic round bowl and in combination with the matching console creates a centrepiece. Pullout vanity units from one of Duravit's Happy D., Fogo, 4x9 or X-Large bathroom furniture ranges fitted underneath the console on the left, the right or on both sides provide plenty of storage space.

The 40 cm and 42.5 cm - with overflow - as well as 45 cm and 50 cm - without overflow - console basins are combined with a choice of wall-mounted taps or upright taps fitted to the tap panel on the right or left.

28 ceramics items for every conceivable situation.
In addition to the new models, the space-saving 63.5 cm corner washbasin and the 57.5 cm washbasin with its shallow 15 cm bowl provide generous washing areas. Where space is at a premium, the 36 cm handrinse basin really comes into its own. The diagonal handrinse basin measuring 64.5 cm makes optimal use of the limited space in smaller bathrooms.

The 43 cm undercounter basin has another special feature: the tap panel projecting into the basin can also accommodate a soap dispenser next to the tap fitting.

Architec also has the answer when it comes to barrier-free washing facilities: the H70 washbasin with a diameter of 57.5 cm and a projection of 52 cm has been designed in conformity with the DIN 18024 and DIN 18025/I+II standards and is wheelchair-friendly.

The Architec washbasins can also be coordinated with other items from the range, which additionally includes conventional and disabled-friendly wall-mounted toilets in flush-down and wash-out versions conforming to all the prevailing standards, ceramic shelves and a urinal. Accessories include toilet seats and a urinal partition.

The consistency of design and the clear, unfussy styling of the products make it possible to create contemporary bathrooms that meet all modern requirements. And without having to make compromises: for ease of cleaning, Duravit offers the entire Architec range with optional WonderGliss surface finish.

Decorations that Add Style: Images and Gallery Collection by Bemis

Toilet seat manufacturer, Bemis, has launched two new collections to the European market.

Bemis says that the Image and Gallery collections take advantage of the growing trend of expressing individuality in the bathroom and offer people the chance to stamp their personality on this one time neglected room.

Utilising colours and images the Image and Gallery ranges can add an amusing, playful or romantic touch to the bathroom.

Produced by Bemis, a world leader in the production of toilet seats, Images by Bemis offers the choice of tulips, dolphins, romantic stars and seascapes. All styles are unique in that the design has a relief quality achieved by using the company’s iproduction system.

Gallery Collection by Bemis has brightly coloured patterns: ranging from the green leaves of a delicate ivy to the lively waves of the sea, the friendly faces of our four-legged friends, and frothing soap bubbles, all in colours that have been expertly mixed to provide attractive visual effects. Italian styling can be brought to the bathroom with designs based upon traditional Venetian masks.

Exclusively designed for Bemis, the Gallery collection includes a wide variety of unique designs made by American and Italian artists.

Both lines, which can be fitted to all standard toilet bowls, are made in American Innova, an avant-garde material made from moulded wood. Both seats are water resistant, warm to the touch and easy to clean.

Both collections are fitted with hinges to allow easy installation: these are plastic, top-fixing hinges for Images by Bemis, and chrome-plated hinges for Gallery Collection.

For more information telephone Bemis on 01282 438717.
