Head-turning Bathroom with Mediterranean Influence from Venetian

This autumn Venetian is launching the new Sicily bathroom range.

The high-gloss claret slab door features a new sleek polished chrome handle and offers a stylish, European influenced look which the company says will bring a touch of class to any contemporary bathroom.

The luxurious deep red door works well with either a metallic cabinet for an ultra-modern look or a pear cabinet for a lighter, warmer feel.

Marketing Manager, Alison Andrews said: 'This new range is a real show-stopper and offers great potential for showroom displays. Venetian is now a well-established  bathroom range and we are continuing to develop the brand with a contemporary range of European influenced bathrooms - Sicily is a great example of this style.'

Just like all Venetian bathrooms, Sicily is available on a standard or reduced depth carcase with an extensive range of units and accessories.

Launched alongside Sicily is a brushed steel framed feature mirror, which co-ordinates with Venetian's range of brushed steel framed feature doors as well as a number of the other Venetian ranges.

Venetian is part of Symphony, the privately owned UK furniture supplier, with more than 30 years experience of designing fitted furniture.

It all Hinges on Bemis

When it comes to toilet seats one thing is crucial to the viability of the seat and that is the hinge.

Failure in the hinge results in failure of the seat which is why global toilet seat manufacturer Bemis says it has always invested huge amounts in research and development to bring superior and unique hinges to the UK and European markets.

Bemis has recently introduced a five-point adjustable hinge which the company says offers increased seat security over other hinges as it features a single sold shaft rather than separate pieces. Seat vulnerability is reduced with the decrease in working parts.

Traditional hinges are based upon the single screw design whereas the five-point hinge offers greater stability by fitting the seat more securely to the pan.

The new hinges are available in chrome, come pre-assembled and are adjustable.
The hinges are fitted on several Bemis seats including the 2030, 2050 and 5050.

Bemis Europe, which consist of manufacturing and distribution centres in Italy (Turin) and UK (Burnley) is part of the Bemis Manufacturing Company which is the world's largest toilet seat producer.

The group provides toilet seat and accessory solutions to bathroom furnishing wholesalers under the brand Carrara & Matta and to retailers with the Bemis brand.

Bemis is backed by a vast distribution network and benefits from extensive investment in research and development.

New Cast-Iron Bath with Whirlpool Multi-Jet Options

Imperial Bathrooms has introduced the Harrington bath – a cast-iron model with the option of a whirlpool multi-jet system. An embodiment of the fusion of modern and classical styling for which the British manufacturer is known, Harrington completes a nine-model range of roll top and bateau style cast-iron baths.

Measuring 1700 x 750mm, Harrington is a traditional single ended bath that features hand-crafted timber raised and fielded front and end panels. Courtesy of one of Imperial Bathrooms’ four model whirlpool systems, it may also be transformed into a contemporary hi-tech, hydro massage bathing experience at the touch of an electronic touch pad control.

Imperial Bathroom’s whirlpool packages include 8, 10, 16 or 20 multi-jet systems, each of which incorporate a variety of advanced features. Features include complete self-draining pump and system, multi-directional nozzles, warm air injection for extra hydro massage power, variable speed control, rotating lumber and reflexology jets and an automatic hygiene management programme. All systems provide quiet operation.

Antonio Garrido, Managing Director of Imperial Bathrooms, explains: 'Imperial Bathrooms prides itself on its ability to deliver innovative products that combine period authenticity with a stylish contemporary feel, and Harrington is, indeed, testimony to the company’s ethos – ‘A Modern Classic’.'

He added: 'Harrington is also particularly suitable for housebuilders of prestige homes. For as well as meeting the needs of the discerning customer, Harrington is unlike most other cast-iron models available as it may be installed flush to the wall, thereby offering great space-saving benefits.'

To ensure that the bath complements today’s contemporary interior design styles and blends with Imperial Bathrooms’ wide range of solid timber furniture, Harrington’s raised and fielded front and end panels are available in a range of finishes that include pine, mahogany and natural oak. The bath may also be combined with the company’s comprehensive range of brassware and accessories.

New Gemstone Mermaid Panel Brings the Tranquil Tropics to the Bathroom

New Gemstone is one of the latest colours to join the Tropical collection of Mermaid waterproof wall panels from Norske Interiors. 'Its crystal-cut mineral pattern and hues of rich greens offer bathrooms a bejewelled charm that exudes calm and serenity.' says the company.

Mermaid panels are designed specifically for wet areas with a water resistant plywood core and a waterproof, decorative laminate finish. With a smooth glossy texture, the natural glisten of Gemstone adorns bathrooms with a tropical glow as light hits the surface.

Norske says that even installing and cleaning Mermaid panels is a tranquil experience. The hardwearing laminate surface won’t crack or chip like tiles, is virtually maintenance-free and because no grouting is required, panels will not suffer over time from the unsightly discoloration of mould.

Gemstone, like the rest of the Mermaid panel range, is now available in a new Kit System from Norske Interiors. Conveniently ready-packaged, the kits are available with panels of 600mm, 900mm or 1200mm width, together with adhesive, sealant and colour co-ordinated profiles, for inspirational bathside walls or shower enclosures.

Imperial Bathrooms Launches Unique & Universal Adjustable Bath Panels

Continuing its new product development programme, British manufacturer, Imperial Bathrooms, says that it has introduced the bathroom industry’s first ever range of universal adjustable timber bath panels.

Designed to overcome the common problems associated with variations in floor and bath levels, the adjustable timber bath panels not only offer installers a ‘fit and forget’ solution, they provide customers with the perfect finish to their bathroom and at no additional cost.

Comprising three separate sections, the bath panels can be adjusted both top and bottom up to a total of 50mm courtesy of a series of simple locking mechanisms, and in doing so, they avoid the need for cutting, planning and sawing. Even following adjustment, the middle panel remains in the same place and retains its perpendicular lines.

Antonio Garrido, Imperial bathroom’s Managing Director, comments: 'We are confident that these adjustable bath panels will be widely received by both retailers and installers alike, for as well as guaranteeing trouble-free and precision installation, they eliminate the need to disturb the aesthetics of the panel itself.'

He added: 'Our ongoing aim is to enable customers to create bathrooms of opulence, distinction and timeless beauty and this latest product solution echoes our commitment to that cause and continues to drive the concept ‘Imperial Bathrooms – A Modern Classic’.'

Hand-crafted using the finest quality solid woods and real wood veneers, the adjustable bath panels are designed to fit most modern day baths and are available in a variety of design styles to suit both contemporary and traditional tastes. These include Linear, Esteem, Shaker, Richmond and a traditional Raised and Fielded design. The beauty of the natural grain is also safely sealed beneath a layer of protective lacquer to resist moisture and water splashes.

The adjustable panels also come in three distinctive finishes - wenge, natural oak and ash - and optional frosted glass panels may also be incorporated with possible back illumination. Matching end panels are also available.

Starry Starry Sky!

Victory Spa has launched a way in which to introduce chromotherapy in to the bathroom with its 'Starry Sky' function.

Starry Sky features as an optional extra on many of Victory Spa's steam cabins. Tiny LED's are fitted to the roof of the cabin, reminiscent of stars in the sky. With 21 different programmes, the effect can be set to one colour or in rotation so one can choose to relax after a hard day with a calming green light or start the party early on a Friday night with a myriad of coloured lights set in rotation!

'Chromotherapy' is the name given when coloured light is used to positively affect the human body. The process begins when light is detected by the eye, which produces chemical reactions and electric impulses, which stimulate the nervous system. This information reaches the brain, in turn stimulating the secretion of hormones, which have a positive effect on the whole body.

Blue is said to have a soothing and hypnotic effect helping to relieve menstruation pains, sore throats and ophthalmologic as it regulates the functioning of sebaceous glands.
Green increases self-confidence, soothes, brings solace, helps relieve inner tension and regenerates the nervous system. It also regulates the functioning of the heart, thereby improving the metabolism, regenerating brain cells and strengthening the bones and skin.

Yellow has a positive influence on the psyche of melancholic. It is a remedy for stress, tiredness and distraction. It strengthens muscles and tightens sagging skin.

Red improves blood circulation, heating and enlivening muscles, accelerating the metabolic rate and stimulating the body. It helps to overcome mental inabilities and to counteract depression.

An additional £500.00 should be added to the price of the cabin when choosing the Starry Sky function.

Axor - From WaterDream to WaterSpace

As part of the ‘Fuorisalone’ programme accompanying this year’s international furniture trade fair in Milan, Axor, the design brand from Hansgrohe AG, presented WaterDream 2005.

In collaboration with renowned designers Jean-Marie Massaud, Patricia Urquiola, and Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec, three landscapes were created – three product and room designs that approach the concept of the bathroom in their own ways.

Behind the WaterDream project initiated by Axor lies the persistent question of which direction the development of the bathroom as a communicative and architectural space – beyond simply its functional significance – will take in the future. Axor WaterDream is an independent, open process that thrives on dialogue with young, innovative designers. As part of this process, the bathroom specialist gives the creative minds a great amount of freedom to hold discussions without predetermined outcomes, so that widely varying approaches can be explored and concrete designs for the use of space are able to emerge.

‘For us, this isn’t about developing new products or simple simulations of future bathroom environments,’ emphasises Philippe Grohe. ‘Instead, what we want is to enable a dialogue to take place that is free from any constraints, so that the kind of experimental design potential that allows visions to take on real form can be released.’

It’s no mere coincidence that with Jean-Marie Massaud, Patricia Urquiola and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Axor was enlisting three artists at one time to render ‘the bathroom of the future’. These young and highly innovative designers were selected because each of them represents one of today’s leading design trends: organic, eclectic, and minimalist.

Organic design finds one of its most sensitive advocates in Jean-Marie Massaud. Always endeavoring to create the perfect balance between the room and the object, the French designer succeeds in setting objects so that they no longer appear as functional products, but rather as ceremonious sculptures dispossessed of technology, integrating themselves into his spatial concept through their beauty and emotionalism.

The Spaniard Patricia Urquiola, now living in Milan, represents an eclectic, often playful direction in product design. With her abstract, emotional approach, she is able to reflect the new yearnings and various moods of modern man. By using many different materials, by combining waterworks, natural sounds and a variety of animals, Patricia Urquiola brings attention to the experiences and the resulting feelings that mankind is endanger of losing in the 21st century. Her colourful polyform mirrored wall doesn’t just allude to the desire for a friendlier, more playful reality; it also symbolises at the same time our often idealised view of ourselves.

The Brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have set a goal of redefining the relationship between individual objects using minimalistic design. Their design is composed of systematically combined individual objects that appear virtually weightless thanks to their reduced use of form. By offering scores of combination possibilities, it is the designers' intention to give the architect and the user free reign in putting together his or her own individual bathroom ‘system’.

‘It is precisely the wide range of broadly varying visions that makes the Axor WaterDream Project exciting: the coexistence of emotionality and abstract feelings from Patricia Urquiola, the confrontation with defined space and the removal of its technology by Jean-Marie Massaud, and the rational-intellectual system approach of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.’ Says Philippe Grohe. ‘In its WaterDream project, Axor manages to present various visions and spatial concepts next to one another while affording them all equal status, and in so doing it provides previews of the future of the living space that is so important and that changes so quickly – the bathroom.’

New Wisteria is Climbing the Metropolis

Wisteria is one of the twenty new colours that Norske Interiors has added to its Mermaid range of decorative waterproof wall panels for bathrooms and shower enclosures.

New Wisteria, part of the contemporary Metropolitan collection, offers a city-living chic that makes it suited to upbeat apartments and urban environments. A vivacious palette of purple is blended with a subtle shadow pattern in softer hues of lilac to create a dappled effect that adds style and interest to any size bathroom, shower enclosure or domestic steam cubicle.

The panel’s smooth matt texture not only adds a sophisticated finish to the Wisteria laminate surface, it also makes it suitable for hard water areas since watermarks are hardly noticeable and comparably easier to wipe away than on glossy tiles.

Mermaid waterproof wall panels are available in over forty colours and designs to suit a variety of tastes. The company says that the hardwearing high pressure laminate surface is virtually maintenance-free, will not crack or chip like tiles and together with the water resistant WBP plywood core it is so effective at waterproofing that it is even suitable for use with power showers. Furthermore, Mermaid panels are quick to fit and because no grouting is used, they won’t suffer over time from the unsightly discolouration of mould.
