Franke
Tours The UK With Waterline Roadshow
Franke
is currently touring the country as part of the Waterline Roadshow which
aims to bring new products to kitchen retailers' doorsteps.
Appreciating that retailers often have to travel long distances to attend
industry exhibitions, Franke and other manufacturers are taking part in
the roadshow which is currently at Castle Donnington, Derbyshire, and
over the next few weeks will be at Sandown Park Race Course, Surrey, Cedar
Court Hotel, Bradford and Tatton Park, Cheshire.
The roadshow has already enjoyed great success at Woburn Abbey, Woburn
and Tortworth Court, Gloucester, attracting many retailers.
Franke is exhibiting a range of products at the roadshow including three
new cooker hoods; the Active, Kubus and Swing hoods, five new taps; the
Pot Filler, Davos, Triflow Kubus, Triflow Olympus and SwingSpray taps,
and the popular Mythos range of sinks and taps.
Also on display is the Franke WD-751 waste disposer, demonstrating the
company's drive to provide products which address consumers' concerns,
with the conservation of the environment being a particularly topical
subject of late.
John Swain, product manager for Franke UK, said: 'The Waterline Roadshow
is an ideal opportunity for us to take our latest products to retailers
and talk to them about the specific benefits of the new ranges on a face-to-face
basis.'.
Re-inventing
Expotile
With
the increased focus on tiling in the UK market, Expotile will build
on its previous success and produce an event that not only reflects this
boom, but also reveals its own brand identity within KBB, the UK's largest
trade exhibition for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.
Re-locating to a new dateline, 2-5th March 2008 at the NEC, Birmingham,
allows Expotile to expand and offer a much improved visitor experience.
With new features planned for next year to involve both exhibitors and
visitors, this is the year to use Expotile as a platform for your products.
For the first time, Expotile will have a dedicated entrance, innovative
demonstrations taking place throughout the show, informative seminars
enlightening the audience and an Expotile Bar will no doubt be a centrepiece
of activity!
In 2006, KBB incorporating Expotile saw 19,122 visitors walk through the
doors with 7,792 looking to source floor tiles, 7,756 looking for wall
tiles and 9,330 interested in adhesives & grouts. Attracting both
the domestic and contract sectors including developers, architects, specifiers,
distributors and wholesalers, Expotile 2008 will be doubling its tiling
offering, making it a prime opportunity for manufacturers to excel.
Expotile 2008...the industry's haven for tiling.

Kitchen
Pavilion a Great Success for KBSA
The
KBSA has reported that the first
ever Kitchen Pavilion at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the NEC,
was a great success and proved to be a key destination for the 46,564
visitors during the four days of the show.
The
KBSA sponsored the Kitchen Pavilion, which brought together some of the
biggest names in the business. As well as the KBSA, the 40 sq m pavilion
featured KBSA members, William Ball, Gorenje and Callerton Kitchens.
James Herriott, a founding director of Callerton Kitchens was thrilled
with the popularity of the pavilion. He comments: Callerton is delighted
with the response to the kitchen room-set we exhibited. We, and the other
members of the Kitchen Alliance's decision to take part was down to two
factors - the first being to support the efforts of the KBSA in organising
such a worthwhile initiative and the second being the competitive package
the KBSA negotiated on behalf of its members to participate.
Bill Miller, Sales Director Gorenje UK, agreed: This was the first
time Gorenje attended the Homebuilding & Renovating Show and it was
a great success. We used the exhibition to launch our brand new 'Ora Ito'
designer built-in range of kitchen appliances, which were very well received
by the many visitors to our stand over the four days.
The KBSA also ran a consumer survey at the show, asking visitors their
views and opinions on kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and home office retailers
and manufacturers. This echoes the survey undertaken at Grand Designs
Live last autumn and offered respondents the chance to win a fantastic
Silver Retro fridge from corporate KBSA member Gorenje.

New
Blum Products at New Look Interzum
The
2007 edition of Interzum (Wednesday May 9th to Saturday May 12th)- the
world's largest trade fair for the furniture industry - will be all new.
New dates, new hall and facilities, new products and innovations. None
newer and more innovative than some of the products from the world leader
in fittings technology, says Blum.
Interzum
2007 will be a unique opportunity for UK manufacturers to view, inspect
and see demonstrated the fittings of the future that will add both value
and the unique extras to their products that will put them in the market
spotlight.
With new dates and new state-of-the-art northern Halls, the exhibitor
list has never been more healthy with well over 1300 companies from 50
countries displaying their products and services to an expected 60,000
visitors. Blum will be at the forefront of these exhibits.
Over recent years Blum's innovations and products have made huge strides
in maximising and organising storage in kitchens. This has led to the
success of the kitchen planning system, DYNAMIC SPACE®.
Blum has focused on the finer points of ergonomics and has looked to Perfecting
Motion with the companys BLUMOTION drawer and pull-out controlled
and soft closing system which has now been so successfully applied to
the Blum CLIPtop concealed hinges for the soft closing of cabinet doors.
More recently Blum designers moved their skills into the area of overhead
cabinets and the result was the effortless AVENTOS lift systems which
also incorporated BLUMOTION.
All of these products in various configurations and formats will be on
show at Interzum but arguably the star of the show will be Blum's new
SERVO-DRIVE system for automatic drawer opening activated by the slightest
pressure - either by pushing or pulling - with major benefits for the
user and a great sales point for retailers and manufacturers.
Visitors to the stand which will be fully staffed by members of the Blum
UK team should especially ask to be shown the following:
SERVO-DRIVE is an electric drive that makes for fascinating kitchen use.
A small lever sends an opening signal which sets the pull-out in motion
from the back of the cabinet. This leaves the user's hands free to ergonomically
store away or retrieve items (as mere pressure from the knee or elbow
activates the SERVO-DRIVE). Closing is as easy as the closing action initiates
the integrated BLUMOTION system. It works as perfectly on high-fronted
pull-outs as on slim-line drawers. Of course it is also a designer's dream
allowing clean, handle-free lines to be created for styling.
Once the drawer is open, of course everything must come out on a full
extension basis so that access to the very back of the drawer and cabinet
is immediate both to view and retrieve or replace items. In deep, wide
drawers Blum's dividing and gallery systems ensure that goods are stored
efficiently and held in place. The BOXSIDE height extensions to the TANDEMBOX
full extension drawers vary widely to ensure that each kitchen can be
highly individualised. In the drawers and pull-outs beneath the worktops
Blum's ORGA-LINE organisational and dividing system offers the user extreme
flexibility so that they can organise drawer interiors to suit individual
lifestyle requirements. Separate containers are removable and can be cleaned
in a dishwasher, dividers can be moved to any position and Blum's special
internal units like the Spice Holder and Knife Rack have proved highly
popular as have the removable plate racks for bottom drawers or even wall
cabinets. ORGA-LINE is equally applicable to Blum's unique SPACE CORNER
corner units which maximises both space and accessibility to this traditionally
difficult unit. The SPACE CORNER also incorporates the practical SYNCHRO-MOTION
system allowing manufacturers to continue using standard drawerfronts.
Other special drawers and pull-outs on show at Interzum will include the
clever under-sink drawer and the space saving plinth drawer.
Above the work surface wall units have all benefited from the inclusion
of BLUMOTION as an integrated part of the Blum CLIPtop hinge range which
still benefits from the CLIP system of mounting without tools. On tall
units with doors like larder units, even more space can be saved and the
full width of the cabinet used by hinging the doors with Blum's special
zero-protrusion CLIP hinges.
The display will also highlight the AVENTOS lift systems for overhead
cabinets, again with integrated BLUMOTION soft closing. AVENTOS is a truly
effortless experience and comes in different configurations - bi-fold,
up and over, or straight up.
With all of the above incorporated in Blum's highly flexible DYNAMIC SPACE®
planning system the ultimate ergonomic and pleasurable kitchen can be
achieved. DYNAMIC SPACE® is based on planning the kitchen according
to 5 zones of activity and storage - storage of consumable, storage of
non-consumables, cleaning zone, preparation zone and cooking zone.
At Interzum Blum will show kitchen systems of the future - and it is worth
remembering that many of these Blum products extend equally well into
the bedroom, living room and home office.

De Lisi at B&K Expo
Renowned
fashion designer, Ben de Lisi is confirmed to take part within the seminar
programme at the premier trade show for the bathroom and kitchen industry,
Bathroom & Kitchen EXPO (13-15 May, ExCeL London). Respected journalist,
Grahame Morrison will interview Ben on his design trend predictions for
the future, after-which EXPO visitors will get the chance to quiz Ben
themselves on what to look out for and what to avoid.
Staying ahead of the game, in terms of fashion and design trends,
is incredibly difficult as the market is constantly changing and evolving
said, Grahame Morrison. Ben's insight on up and coming trends and
proven design tips will be immensely valuable to all involved in bathroom
and kitchen design.
Ben is a strong player on the English fashion scene and over the years
has established a loyal fashion and celebrity following. Since 1995 Ben
has been showing at London Fashion Week and has won the coveted British
Glamour Designer of the Year award twice in 1994 and 1995. And, his diffusion
line in conjunction with Debenhams called BDL has become one of the largest

The
Heating Company at ISH in Frankfurt
This
year, visitors to the ISH Trade Fair in Frankfurt (6-10 March 2007) will
in the Forum Hall be welcomed by The Heating Company to its exhibition
stand, a display booth covering a surface area of 270 m2. At this booth,
the brands VASCO, BRUGMAN and THERMIC will feature a number of their newest
collections. The reception area and bar capture the warm atmosphere of
The Heating Company.
Arche,
Niva and Carré.
The space reserved for VASCO radiates a cosy, homey atmosphere, in perfect
harmony and in character with the successful collections Arche, Niva and
Carré. It pertains here especially to the colour N500 which commands
attention; the unique misty white creates a special effect
against the dark background of the walls. A combination that brings out
the qualities of the designer radiators.
Casual, Classic, Comfort and Piano.
For the ISH fair, Brugman places the focus on the sectionalised radiators
from its Classic Line, available in both natural and metallic colours,
on the familiar Casual Line panel radiators in white RAL 9016, and on
its top models from the Piano Line, a panel radiator with smooth front
plate which is now made available in brilliant new colours. In addition,
there is the Comfort Line: a complete product range in floor heating.
With the latter, Brugman is tuning in to the growing popularity of floor
heating in the consumer market.
Zana Line.
With Thermic, the spotlight is on the Zana Line. This product range includes
a complete series of transparent design radiators featuring vertical square-angled
pipes and 2 rear, horizontal round collectors. The Zana Line consists
of 6 different models that are suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms,
living rooms, entrance halls, and more luxurious office spaces. These
heating sculptures are available with a single or double row
of vertical pipes, either in a vertical or horizontal configuration, either
as wall models or free-standing.
The ISH booth of The Heating Company (VASCO, BRUGMAN and THERMIC) is located
in the Forum Hall, Level 0, booth number B02.
William
Ball Goes for Maximum Exposure at Ideal Home Show
Alongside
a stand of its own, William Ball has announced a strong presence at this
year's Ideal Home Show (Earls Court, 9th March 1st April 07), where
the company has been selected to design and supply kitchens for two of
the three show homes at this popular show, as well as one of the show
stands for Ideal Home Magazine.
Designed in association with Young Architects of the Year 2005 - Lynch
Architects - the show homes are a major crowd puller at the exhibition
and are likely to attract a footfall of at least 330,000 home lovers seeking
interiors inspiration.
In the Urban Terrace House, which has a brick façade with modern
timber frame, William Ball's new Rosso kitchen (pictured) in a sassy red
lacquered finish has been chosen for its bright and contemporary feel.
Mixed with a modern aluminium carcases and stone colour Corian worksurfaces,
the kitchen has an open-plan layout and is designed to appeal to a wide
variety of young and funky homeowners.
In the Suburban House, which has a courtyard feel and is designed to sit
alongside a canal or similar brownfield site, William Ball's classic Bianca
kitchen was selected for its clean lines and modern good looks. High gloss
white doors are framed in 25mm walnut panels for a touch of warmth that
will appeal to young families.
For further inspiration, visitors will be able to check out another kitchen
on Ideal Home Magazine's stand as well as a wider variety of William Ball
products, including three kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, studies and open-plan
living furniture, by popping along to the company's own 45 sq m stand
at 1K41.

Dornbracht
at Imm Cologne - Furniture Fair, 15-21 January
Dornbracht,
the international manufacturer of high quality kitchen and bathroom fittings
and accessories presented the Farm Project by Mike Meire - a re-interpretation
of the kitchen.
The latest project in the company's Edges Series, the installation presented
the kitchen as a lovingly created part of the home and a stage for life.
The visitor to the barn-like room is a guest in a kitchen that quotes
simple, down-to-earth life; encountering live pigs, birds, fish and hay,
hay forks and simple galvanised buckets gathered in an emotive ensemble.
A cast iron stove provides warmth; a double-level basin in stainless steel
becomes a sculpture. Plain crockery is stacked, seemingly randomly around
the scene; a mobile sink unit completes the picture.
On the outside, panels in various material collages - copper sheet, insulating
panels and plastics - envelop the spatial object which is defined by grey-white
steel girders.
The installation also included a presentation of Dornbracht's latest kitchen
ranges, Elio, Maro, Lot and Meta02.

Blum
Perfects Motion at Interzum
Interzum
2007 in Cologne maintains its status as the pre-eminent exhibition for
the furniture industry and fittings innovator Blum will once again
star at the show.
Over
recent years Blum's innovations and products have made huge strides in
maximising and organising storage in kitchens. This has led to the success
of the kitchen planning system, DYNAMIC SPACE®.
With this trail of advancement and success to build on Blum has focused
on the finer points of ergonomics and has looked to Perfecting Motion
with the companys BLUMOTION drawer and pull-out controlled and soft
closing system which has now been so successfully applied to the Blum
CLIPtop concealed hinges for the soft closing of cabinet doors. More recently
Blum designers moved their skills into the area of overhead cabinets and
the result was the effortless AVENTOS lift systems which also incorporated
BLUMOTION.
So what to look out for?
SERVO-DRIVE is an electric drive that makes for fascinating kitchen use.
A small lever sends an opening signal which sets the pull-out in motion
from the back of the cabinet. This leaves the user's hands free to ergonomically
store away or retrieve items (as mere pressure from the knee or elbow
activates the SERVO-DRIVE).
Closing is as easy as the closing action initiates the integrated BLUMOTION
system. It works as perfectly on high-fronted pull-outs as on slim-line
drawers or under-sink drawers. Of course it is also a designer's dream
making allowing clean, handle-free lines to be created for styling.
Separate containers are removable and can be cleaned in a dishwasher,
dividers can be moved to any position and Blum's special internal units
like the Spice Holder and Knife Rack have proved highly popular as have
the removable plate racks for bottom drawers or even wall cabinets. ORGA-LINE
is equally applicable to Blum's unique SPACE CORNER corner units which
maximises both space and accessibility to this traditionally difficult
unit.
On tall
units with doors like larder units, even more space can be saved and the
full width of the cabinet used by hinging the doors with Blum's zero-protrusion
CLIP hinges.

Unique
Demo Unit Completed for Nutrition and Health Conference
RH
Morton
completed a Mobile Cookery Unit for a demonstration by George McIvor,
Consultant Chef & Chairman of The Master Chefs of Great Britain, for
the Nutrition and Health for Caterers Conference.
RH
Morton, catering and equipment manufacturer and supplier, manufactured
a unique mobile cookery unit for George McIvor especially for this event
which took place at the Glasgow Hilton at the end of 2006. The unit was
specially designed with Miele induction hobs and a small Falcon convection
oven suitable for this kind of demonstration where George demonstrated
to increase participants knowledge and provide practical information
on nutrition and health to caterers, catering managers, chefs and cooks
in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, nurseries etc.
George also outlined the importance of kitchen layout and hygiene and
how these factors can help or hinder the functionality and cleanliness
of a kitchen using the RH Morton demonstration unit itself. Nutrition,
food hygiene, food safety and food allergy, in addition to recipe modification
and new trends were highlighted as a whole, something that RH Morton takes
into account when designing and fitting bespoke Stainless Steel Fabrication
for Restaurants, Hotels, Hospitals, Care Homes, Churches, Charity and
Voluntary organisations, University and College Refectories, Retail Shops,
Industrial Canteens, Bed & Breakfasts and the up market Domestic sector.
The conference organised by the Division of Developmental Medicine at
Glasgow University took place at the Glasgow Hilton on Tuesday, 28th November
2006. The Division of Developmental Medicine has a Continual Professional
Development Service organising conferences and training courses in nutrition
and health-related subjects.
