Decorative
Panels at ZOW
British
paper foil laminator Decorative Panels Ltd is attending ZOW at Bad Salzuflen,
February 20-23, 2006 for the first time. In fact, says sales manager Stephen
Cadwell: This is the first time in our 90+ year history, that we
have attended an offshore exhibition - and I think that what we have to
offer European board manufacturers and processors will go down very well.
New
foils for the Euro marketplace will be launched at ZOW, many developed
as part of DP's Synergy initiative for continuity with existing PVC membrane
pressing foils by some of the world's big producers. Continuity, according
to Steve Cadwell, is the key to marrying the use of well printed and inexpensive
paper foils with alternative board facing materials such as PVCs and laminates.
Another first will be the launch of new CPL and LiteCore ranges from Decorative
Panels. CPL is a durable, cost effective 0.2mm laminate which offers significant
cost savings over more traditional HPLs. And LiteCore is a chunky but
lightweight new board alternative which also offers substantial cost savings
as well as flexibility compared with better established thicker board
alternatives.
Tough, hard wearing new UltraFoils from DP will be a strong presence on
the 2006 stand at ZOW. UltraFoil meets demanding British standards including
FIRA 6250 for severe horizontal use and BS6222 and makes the superior
print quality of paper foils viable for use in conjunction with contract
furniture, kitchens and office environments.
A portfolio of more than 100 alternative foil prints includes a broad
selection of wood grain patterns and many complementary unicolours. Decorative
Panels has plans to introduce new foil print designs on a continuous basis
with complementary single colours in response to wide ranging customer
needs and industry trends.
The company says that as the European Union's largest paper foil trade
laminator, Decorative Panels pioneered the technology in the UK and has
recorded rapid and consistent growth during the past 30 years. Supplying
decorative paper foil laminated furniture board in full sheet form and
also wide ranging panel based components, the Yorkshire company has achieved
an annual trading revenue of approaching Euros 60M.
With two lamination lines - one the world's largest at 90mtrs in length
- running 24/7 in a newly custom built 12,000 sq metre factory plus a
thin board line for matching cabinet backs and drawer base panels into
the carcassing equation, Decorative Panels has an overall lamination output
potential of more than half a million square metres of board per week.
And three additional Huddersfield factories are devoted to the contract
manufacture of paper foil laminated panel components supporting Decorative
Panels claim to be: 'Europe's leading paper foil trade lamination house'.
Decorative Panels: Stand B4, Hall 22, ZOW 2006.

Grand
plans for Grand Designs Live 2006, 2-4 June 2006, ExCeL London
Following
the hugely successful launch of Grand Designs
Live earlier this year, publishing group Media 10 and FremantleMedia
Licensing Worldwide, have announced Grand Designs Live 2006.
Attracting an incredible 43,451 visitors in three days, Grand Designs
Live 2005 was recognised as, 'the most spectacular launch show I have
witnessed in this industry in the last two decades' (Kevin Murphy, ExCeL's
Deputy CEO and MD Exhibitions).
The record-breaking launch show at ExCeL London is set to increase 25%
in size in 2006, with the number of exhibitors increasing to over 500.
Grand Designs Live is based on the hugely successful talkbackTHAMES series
for Channel 4, which is presented by design guru Kevin McCloud. The event,
which has evolved into a spectacularly vibrant show and changed the face
of the interiors exhibition industry forever, aims to inform, excite and
inspire visitors to create their own 'Grand Design' - with everything
they need from around the world available to purchase under one-roof.
Keen to reflect current trends in design and modern living, the organisers
are busy working with exhibitors, sponsors and set designers to create
an environment packed with creative displays and show-stopping features,
devised to spark creativity, enthusiasm and ingenuity.
The celebrity line-up for 2005 spanned the cream of the industry and included
guest speakers Sarah Beeny, Antony Worrall Thompson, Diarmuid Gavin and
Naomi Cleaver. Headed by Kevin McCloud for the second time, the 2006 exhibition
promises even greater celebrity attractions.
Grand Designs Live is a broad-based show, containing five distinct but
closely related sections. Each hall will contain themed clinics with experts
on hand to offer visitors advice on their own design projects, however
large or small.
GRANDInteriors - a popular section of the show, which will encompass
everything required to furnish a home from flooring, furniture and furnishings
to storage systems, lighting, heating, sound and entertainment systems.
GRANDBuild - a must-see for those taking on a self-build project,
GRANDBuild will provide access to experts and suppliers, as well as a
chance to review products and materials up close. GRANDBuild will include
companies specialising in build kits and frames, doors and windows, loft
conversions, roofing, heating and electrical products.
GRANDGardens - this section will provide inspirational ideas to
make the most of outside space from decking and furniture to water features,
conservatories, outdoor buildings, tree houses and lots of living and
architectural plants.
GRANDKitchens+Bathrooms - this area of the show will provide everything
(including the kitchen sink) to inspire two of the key rooms in any house.
GRANDKitchens+Bathrooms will include companies specialising in kitchen
appliances, storage, lighting, whirl pools, showers and furniture.
GRANDShopping Arcade - to complete the look of a home, visitors
will have the unique opportunity to buy furnishing accessories usually
unavailable on the high street including artwork, cushions, candles, picture
frames and vases.
All the favourites from the TV series and last year's show will be bought
to life, with more demonstrations, more experts and more information on
hand.
An extensive seminar programme and numerous live demonstrations will run
throughout the three-day event for those seeking advice or conducting
fact-finding research.
All Grand Designs Live visitors will have the chance to:
*Purchase products and materials on the day from exhibiting companies
*Attend the FREE seminar programme of top industry speakers
*Watch LIVE demonstrations
*Be inspired by the interactive features, displays and range of companies
*Get access to industry experts for advice
'This is the exhibition that the country has been yearning for. It is
the home show for the twenty-first century instead of the nineteenth'
(Poggenpohl - kitchen & bathroom specialists, with 110 years' experience).
Kevin McCloud, comments: 'Grand Designs Live isn't just another homes
exhibition. Like the programme it's definitive, authoritative, creative
and original. You want to know how to build your dream? How to get a project
right? How to employ an architect? What to prioritise? Where to find the
most beautiful things for your home? Come to Grand Designs Live 2006.
I'll be there every day.'
Lee Newton, managing director of Media 10, comments: 'Grand Designs Live
is a great day out for everyone to enjoy. Some of the biggest names in
the industry will be on hand to provide visitors with on-the-spot advice,
the seminars and demos will be packed with information and inspiration,
and there's also a chance to see and buy exclusive products you can't
get on the high street.'
Dom Wheeler, Vice President, Licensing, UK, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide,
licensor of Grand Designs, adds: 'Grand Designs is one of TV's most popular
home design shows and we're delighted to be working with Media 10 to bring
the series to life. I have no doubt that the show will be the ultimate
all-in-one destination for people who are passionate about their homes'.

'The
Idea of Kitchen' - Dornbracht Launches New Kitchen Design at Kuechenmeile
2005
Dornbracht,
the international manufacturer of high quality designer fittings, accessories
and interiors, launched a number of product innovations at Küchenmeile
from 17 25 September 2005. In doing so, Dornbracht chose a platform
for the premiere of these new products that has over the years become one
of the leading national exhibitions for kitchen specialists. In 2004 there
were some 15,000 visitors to it, one-quarter of whom came from abroad.
'We
are presenting fittings that are appropriate to the kitchen as a room for
rituals, that are like the kitchen itself: a combination of function and
emotion,' explains managing director Andreas Dornbracht. 'The preparation
of dishes, eating together with family and friends - our fittings are aimed
specifically at the most diverse needs and at everyday life in the kitchen.'
Along with the classic kitchen fittings Tara, Tara Classic, Meta.02, Madison
and Madison Flair, Dornbracht showed for the first time its new series Elio,
Maro and Lot, and a number of additions to the successful Meta.02 range.
All new kitchen ranges have been designed by Sieger Design.
With its round, harmonious shapes, Elio (pictured right) imparts a feeling
of comfort that the company says brings to mind uncomplicated, everyday
moments. And working with Elio is just the same, because the functions of
this fitting have been designed specifically with every possible requirement
in mind, from washing vegetables to washing up: with an extending spray
that comfortably reaches every area of the sink unit.
Elio is available in a version for hot water heaters, single-lever mixers
and two-hole mixers with rosettes or a cover panel. There are also versions
for left-handed users, and versions with a raised base.
The most striking thing about Maro is the square head, which flows smoothly
from the spout. This avant-garde aesthetic is Dornbracht's response to the
requirement for more angular, more expressive shapes - even in the kitchen.
The functionality remains smooth and efficient - the aerator is integrated
flush-fit with the head of the fitting, and is therefore almost invisible.
Maro is available as a single-lever mixer and as a two-hole mixer with rosettes.
Both Elio and Maro have a pivoting spout to make life easier and more ergonomic.
Lot
(pictured left) is sculptural in appearance; an architectural fitting with
an ultra flat one-piece spout. 'It focuses on function, draws back - and
that is just what makes it so striking.' says the company. 'Combined with
the surface in matt platinum, its character oscillates between the severity
of the form and the warmth of the material. Lot is uncompromising, pared
down and yet functional - a fitting for modern, discerning architectural
kitchens. Pure, clean and elegant.'
Lot has a pivoting spout; the wall mixer has a cover plate, and the two-hole
mixer is available with rosettes or a cover panel.
The high-base version of Meta.02 has been specially adapted for working
in the kitchen. It represents a factual, geometric design language. The
proportions have been optimised for use in the kitchen. The spout is higher
and pivots over the shaft of the fitting. Washing large items is easy, and
there's plenty of room for cleaning and washing vegetables and fruit and
filling pots. The lever has been extended for easier use.
The Meta.02 is available as a single-lever mixer with a base, and there
is also a version for hot water heaters.
A new spray has been developed specifically as an addition to the series
Elio and Meta.02, the design of the professional spray fitting in the current
range adapted. A switch has been integrated seamlessly in the head of the
spray; a touch of a button is all it takes to switch between aerator and
spray. The professional spray fitting is operated by means of the lever
handle. The existing sprays for the series Tara and Tara Classic have been
given an improved anti-limescale system. A detergent dispenser is available
to go with any of these series. The new products are all available with
surfaces in chrome or matt platinum.

and graced the stand of the Kitchen Bedrooms & Bathrooms Magazine.

Pictured here with her new 22 series Maytag fridge freezer Helen remarks,
We are absolutely thrilled with our Maytag and it is ideal for our
family. It is difficult to say which of the features we like the most.
'For my husband it is the drinks chiller cabinet; for my sons it is the
cold water dispenser and especially the crushed ice. For me, it is the
superior way it keeps the food fresh, even the lettuce, very impressive.

Idéo
Bain 2006
Idéo
Bain is being staged at the same time as Interclima+Elec-Home&Building:
as a result, between 17th and 20th January 2006 Porte de Versailles will
welcome over 100,000 trade visitors: installers, distributors, showroom
sales staff, specifiers, public and private contractors.
Sanitaryware manufacturers have signed up in force (as of 15th September
more than 85% of the show had been sold, with the sector's major groups
returning) for this biennial Fédération des Industries de
la Salle de Bains (FISB) event, seeing it as an opportunity to meet their
core customer base in a short space of time and a unique opportunity to
promote their brands and know how.
Idéo Bain and Interclima+Elec home&Building are combining their
efforts through an extensive joint promotional drive aimed at their shared
target markets: French and international specifiers and installers.
In 2006, Idéo Bain will be making a fuss of showroom sales staff
and providing them with a special reception at the show: private entrance,
cloakroom, relaxation area, guided tours of the ModesDeBains space. This
operation will be supported at the show by the exhibitors' own sales forces
and Idéo Bain will make a contribution towards the travelling expenses
of certain showroom sales staff from the provinces.
In order to encourage meetings between exhibitors and visitors, Idéo
Bain is introducing new services for its exhibitors to optimise contacts:
business meetings, targeted sponsorship operations and the availability
of private spaces.
Idéo Bain is an outstanding show case for the latest functions
and technical innovations introduced by bathroom manufacturers: spa tubs,
tropical rain forest showers, smart storage, purified lines of taps, rediscovery
of the basin top, interplays of mirrors and light, multi-function radiators....
Today's bathrooms call for the finest of floor and wall finishings, and
in response to this the Materials Gallery has been launched to shine the
spotlight on the products of the leading finishing manufacturers in a
space specifically dedicated to them and their exclusive distributors.
They will display the full variety of materials and a profusion of colours:
marbles, tiles, mosaic, wood, wallpapers ... and the latest creations.
Both a necessity and eagerly awaited, Idéo Bain 2006 celebrates
bathroom's designed for the user's pleasure by offering the professionals
and the general public high quality products backed up by leading brands.
The Hotel Bathroom Prize 2006
From the dream bathroom to its realisation, is only one step: Idéo
Bain has chosen to pay homage to those who have taken it.
Following the presentation to Andrée Putman in 2002 and then to
Terence Conran in 2004 of the Hotel Bathroom Prize, in 2006 it will go
to the architect India Mahdavi, who will create a hotel bathroom to be
revealed at the show.

Ambiente
2006 is 'The Worlds Choice'
The
Organisers of Ambiente in Frankfurt am Main say that it is 'the world's
biggest consumer-goods fair for the tabletop, kitchen, housewares, giftware,
party goods and home furnishing segments' and 'is an essential date in
the calendar for exhibitors and visitors from over 140 countries around
the globe looking to make a successful start to the new business year'.
Next year's Ambiente, scheduled to take place from 10th to 14th
February 2006, will again feature some 4,600 exhibitor companies from
every continent. The event will combine three of the world's top fairs
under one roof, i.e. Dining, Giving and Living.
Dining
Dining is not only the world of tabletop, kitchen and housewares but also
the most important trading platform in these sectors, spanning both the
high-end trade and high-volume business. The six product segments are:
Tavola Select, Tavola Top Trade, Houseware, Kitchen, Kitchen Trends and
Passage Table & Kitchen. Ambiente 2006 is set to see an expansion
in the high-volume business segment, represented by the Tavola Top Trade
product group, with an increase in the number of European glass exhibitors
in Hall 9.3. In order to achieve this, exhibitors of china and porcelain
will be relocated from Hall 9.3 to Hall 10.0, where they will be exhibiting
alongside ceramic suppliers. Another highlight will be the exhibition
area for small electrical appliances. All the small electrical appliances
manufacturers, around 50 of them, who attended Ambiente 2005 are due to
return next February. Growing exhibitor numbers in this segment is a priority,
although this can only be achieved as and when space becomes available,
as all the exhibition space is currently occupied.
Design, Design
Design plays a major role at Ambiente. Prizes and special shows underline
the importance Messe Frankfurt places on this theme, as illustrated by
the fact that the awards ceremony for the Design Prize of the Federal
Republic of Germany will be taking place at the Ambiente launch party
on 10th February. The Design Prize is Germany's official design award
and is handed down every year by the German Design Council, on behalf
of the Germany Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The Prize honours manufactured goods and communication design products
of outstandingly high design quality. The Design Plus prize for innovation
is all about sustainability in design. The competition honours products
which impress due to their high design quality, functionality and technical/ecological
value. All Ambiente exhibitors are eligible to take part. Design Plus
is awarded by the 'Initiative Form und Leben'.
The Plagiarius awards ceremony has become something of an institution
at Ambiente. The dwarf with the golden nose is awarded on the first day
of the fair to companies with the distinction of having particularly audaciously
plagiarised product concepts.
Embedded in the Loft product segment in Hall 6.1, is the special design
location where Messe Frankfurt gives a helping hand to up-and-coming designers
from around the world, by way of the 'Talents' exhibition area. 'Esine',
a lounge designed not just for relaxation but also as a place for touching
and commenting on the prototypes on show, is the brainchild of 21 designers
from Finland. Another design highlight will be on display in the foyer
between Halls 5.1 and 6.1 - 'Design from Sweden' is a showcase of innovative
products by Swedish designers.
