Alno lntroduces Picture Line - A New Concept in Kitchen Design

German kitchen manufacturer, Alno has introduced Picture Line, a new kitchen range that allows the customer the ultimate in personalising their kitchen. A kitchen can be as individual as you are - you can have any image you wish put onto a Picture Line kitchen, the choice is limited only by your imagination, you could even capture your child's first drawing on a cabinet. Alternatively, the Alno Picture Line image library offers 150 patterns and images for either individual doors or block designs.

The Alno Picture Line image library includes famous scenes, beautiful landscapes, patterns, wildiife, modern art, motifs and much more. lmages can be placed on the doors and drawers to create one large picture for dramatic effect ar just on single doors/drawers for a subtle yet still unique look. The process of image application has been patented and has been specifically designed for Alno's Picture Line to ensure all pictures and patterns printed offer the very best picture quality. A special varnish seals the door and drawer fronts to provide a robust, longlasting finish.

Changing the image of your kitchen is simple - no alterations or new kitchen units are needed. All or individual door and drawer fronts can simply be exchanged at any time with your own image or any of the images from Alno's extensive image collection or plain doors.

As one of the largest kitchen manufacturers in Europe, Alno says that it is renowned for its designs and creative ideas, including:

Different Working Heights
Alno has developed a modular system, which provides varying heights for individual base units. Following extensive research, it was discovered that most cooks find the standard height too high for using a hob and too low for washing up, causing back and neck problems. With an Alno kitchen every customer can work at their ideal height, no matter what they are doing, from washing up and cooking on a hob to preparing food, as the modular base units allow for several choices in heights. In addition, there is a hydraulic table that sits on the
worktop, which can be adjusted easily to any height, creating more worktop space or to simply make chopping vegetables easier.

Storage Solutions

Maximising storage is very important for most kitchens and Alno has incorporated many features, including a niche midway sliding rail system for accessories, with fixed sink and hob splash protectors to hide accessories behind when not in use. The Magic Corner system has been recently redesigned to increase storage by up to 38%, suitable for storing pots and pans. Other space-saving features include drawer management systems, pull-out warming plate, chopping board, magnetic knife holder and much more. Extradepth base units and worktops also provide more working space as well as storage.

Servo-soft Closing System for Drawers
The Servo-soft closing' system prevents drawers from slamming shut. This prolongs the life of the units, keeps the contents from being thrown to the back and prevents little fingers from being accidentally hurt.

lntelligent Lighting
Alno has several lighting solutions including automatic lights that turn on when you open a base unit to help with finding utensils, jars etc. Wall lights, as part of the niche midway rail system, and soft strip lights between units create an inviting atmosphere.

The Finishing Touches
Alno offers over 60 different handles or knobs, including aluminium, chrome, stainless steel and brass and a choice of 45 laminate and solid wood worktops. Alno also offers a choice of carcasses to match or contrast with the door and drawer fronts, offering 23 different options of simulated wood, veneered wood, high gloss and laminate colours.

Ardesco Gloss Delivers the Ultimate in Worksurface Resistance and Sophistication

Orama, the independent manufacturer of worksurfaces and associated decorative products, says that its mirror flat gloss laminates, part of its Ardesco range, are among the most fashionable and durable worksurfaces of their kind currently commercially available. They marry the characteristics of contemporary European design with advanced materials, providing the modern kitchen with increased wear and tear to visual effect.

Ardesco gloss worksurfaces are manufactured from a high pressure decorative laminate that exceeds pr EN 438 requirements for wear resistance. They incorporate a special paper, which increases the wear resistance of the HPL . Wear resistance is almost completely independent from the surface structure.

Orama has commissioned independent tests that confirm the durability and high standard of its gloss worksurfaces. Impact testing demonstrated that the surfaces suffered virtually no cracking when a steel ball was dropped from a height of 2 metres. Equally, heat resistance results showed that even when the surfaces were exposed to temperatures as high as 180ºC for 20 minutes, only slight changes in the gloss were observed. Finally, the surfaces also withstood scratching above average expectations for this type of product, with lighter coloured laminates showing markedly better resistance to scratching.

The Ardesco high wear gloss worksurfaces benefit from a mirror flat finish that is free from any telegraphing. No ripples are noticeable on the worksurface, meaning that the product is free from any distortion and the design is enhanced as a result. Orama says that it deployed new technology on its production line to deliver the first product available in the UK with such a level of quality. This new finish was unveiled with the new Ardesco range, and the midnight granite gloss, the hallmark of this collection, has been recognised for its modern and contemporary look and feel.

Commenting on the results of these latest tests, Peter Holt, sales and marketing director, Orama, says: ‘Not only have we innovated with the aesthetics of our Ardesco gloss worksurfaces, but our products have now been certified as some of the most resistant in the UK market. This clearly demonstrates our technical lead as we transform the appeal of worksurfaces by combining the latest style and fashion with the most advanced materials available today.’

Orama offers high quality durable decorative panels and worksurfaces. Established for many years, Orama holds ISO 9001 certification and the Furniture Industry Research Association Gold Award for product performance. The company is also a corporate member of the KBSA (Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialist Association). All Orama’s chipboard and solid timber products are sourced from 'responsibly managed' forests.

DiLusso Shows Class with Richmond

Following its successful name launch, DiLusso Manufacturing and its specialist division, DiLusso Distribution has received a good reaction to its Richmond design. Part of the DiLusso ‘Classic Collection’, and one of 16 designs, Richmond is a 5-piece door which is accentuated by a solid oak 'chunky' frame and a veneered centre panel.

The Richmond design is complemented with a full selection of matching accessories – from plinths and pelmets to glazed doors and end shelf units. The choice of handles are optional but the solid D-bar chosen for the room set image draws the eye to the strong symmetry of a style which will fit many different decors, moods and interiors.

Illuminated Shelves Brighten Wellmann Kitchens

A new lighting option for kitchens is now available with Wellmann's illuminated shelves. Framed in anodised aluminium for a cool contemporary look the centre textured glass panel reflects light from bulbs set at the rear of the shelf assembly.

This highlights stored items, working particularly well with glass and crystal. In addition the shelves subtly illuminate any work surface below.

Shelves are 600mm long and 200 or 300 mm wide. The lighting comprises two 8 watt units per shelf and there are sensor switches concealed within the aluminium egg shaped wall fixing brackets.

Given that the brackets are fitted securely to the wall the shelves are capable of taking weights up to 20kg.

Illuminated shelves are another addition to a range of lighting offered by Wellmann. Carefully chosen lighting will add mood and enhance safety in the kitchen, a far cry from the old centrally positioned light that meant the user was constantly working in shadow.

Wellmann's lighting systems are available from the In-toto kitchen chain and selected independent specialists.

Hettich System Solutions - Recipes for Convenient Kitchens

Hettich says that kitchen furniture must adapt to the user – not the other way round. Unimpeded and fast access to cabinet contents is essential, as is themed organisation into separate function zones that provide an uninterrupted workflow.

All are part of the demands placed on modern kitchen planning. The appropriate technology professionally unites tidy storage, access and workflow and, for the kitchen buyer, this produces convincing practical benefits that stimulate the desire for a perfectly equipped kitchen.

Hettich develops solutions for the numerous zones within the kitchen. The focus is not on the individual fitting, but on the fitting system that can be applied to a particular application. The Hettich 'ComfortLine' and 'InnoTech' drawer systems, as well as clever cabinet interior fittings, allow the logical provision of storage and work space for storing crockery and saucepans, food storage, preparing food, cooking and washing up. As an example, high-volume drawers, different drawer types and front pull-outs with cleverly devised interior organisation components as well as the 'Cargo' larder-unit and base-unit provide labour-saving access and a generous amount of space in the food storage zone. Pot-and-pan drawers, as well as corner carousels for pots and pans, along with special base unit pull-outs for keeping spices ready to hand lend professional convenience to the cooking zone. Work in the sink area is facilitated by pot-and-pan drawers for cleaning products and detergents as well as by high-volume drawers with waste bins. The 'EasyLock' is a practical addition to the sink base unit. Cleaning products can be locked away safely out of the reach of children. 'EasyLock' is mounted out of sight behind the furniture front. It can be retrofitted with ease and removed again at any time.

Developing platform concepts, such as complete drawer systems with variable interior organisation, provides the kitchen manufacturer with many different ways within the system to stand apart from the competition, or to incorporate special options, like the high-volume drawer.

Dividing the kitchen up into function zones in the way Hettich communicates it to the consumer in a manufacturer-independent brochure facilitates sales talk for the retailer. This is because it is easier to put a case for the practical benefit of high-convenience fittings in the overall kitchen context. It improves the chances of conveying the aspect of added value, of setting kitchens apart in terms of more than just price, and of providing competent advise with strong arguments that will create the motivation to buy.
