SieMatic
MosaicDesign Worktops Adding Exclusivity to Modern
Kitchen Design
SieMatic
says 'When it comes to exclusivity and individuality in the domestic kitchen,
SieMatic is the brand that recognises the imperative homeowners attach
to owning a kitchen that is not merely a carbon copy of their neighbours.
In the luxury kitchen market, homeowners aspire to own a kitchen that
is uniquely theirs: a kitchen that reflects their success, their love
of cooking and penchant for entertaining. Above all, SieMatic recognises
the pivotal role that the modern kitchen provides as the hub of modern
family life.
'The Cologne Fair in January 2005 saw SieMatic add various innovations
that enable a consumer to customise their kitchen the way a motorist lucky
enough to order a Porsche, Mercedes or BMW car might customise their vehicle
when ordering one.
'SieMatic Mosaic Design worktops are
the ultimate in exclusivity. Available in two factory and one hand made
version, all are targeted at the top end of the market.'
The hand made Mosaic Worktops are made from pieces of marble which are
combined with genuine Venetian glass and even flakes of gold leaf. These
top quality designs consist of 1 X 1 cm marble stones, painstakingly hand
set by mosaicists specially trained in this traditional craft. The characteristic,
elegant look is based on the combination of marble types and colours,
the broken edges of the mosaics and the inlays of Venetian glass and /
or gold. No two kitchens will ever claim the same worktop, since each
is hand crafted for its owner and by arrangement, any pattern or inlay
can be specified. Hand made MosaicDesign worktops cost around £350
per metre length.
SieMatic MosaicDesign is also offered in a 10 x 10 cm ceramic tile style
version in either a single tone colour or with a two tone chessboard pattern.
SieMatic UK Managing Director Bernard Otulakowski says 'Any homeowner
investing in a kitchen invariably costing an amount comparable to that
of a decent car wants to own something that is uniquely theirs and in
a mode that is about more than the shape and configuration of their property.
These new worktops enable a SieMatic customer to buy a kitchen secure
in the knowledge that their investment really is unique'.

Sleek
New Lines from Franke
New
from Franke is the Kubus undermount
range of sinks, which sees the traditional soft curve of the bowl replaced
with a more geometric modern line.
The Kubus has been designed with a 25mm corner radii giving the sink an
angular look while also remaining easy to clean.
John Swain, product manager for Franke UK, commented: As the style
of the sink is becoming equally as important as its function, square bowls,
such as the Kubus, are growing in popularity as they offer a modern minimalistic
look which complement todays contemporary kitchen furniture ranges.
Available in six different bowl sizes, consumers can choose from a range
of configurations to suit their needs.
The half bowls within the range have the same front to back dimension
as the large bowls which again adds to the overall geometric style of
the Kubus.
Also available for the Kubus are a separate drainer unit, drainer tray,
strainer bowl with handle, colander with handle, and a chopping board.

New
Colours from BA Components
BA
Components
has recently launched eight new colours and six new door designs to its
product range. This brings the total offer to 27 colours and 19 door designs
now marketed under the brand name 'Bella'.
Into the Bella range comes High Gloss Red, High Gloss Cream, High Gloss
Maple and High Gloss Cherry; the latter is supplied on an exclusive basis
to BA Components. Alabaster, Light Walnut, Dark Walnut, and Pippy Oak
complete the new colours.
The choice of these eight colours reflects feedback from BA Components'
large UK and Irish customer base, and also information on trends identified
by the company's in house designers gathered from other European manufacturers.
The new colours are shown across all six new door designs in full room
displays within the company's new 68 page Kitchen and Bedroom Brochures.
These additions complement the range by offering modern, contemporary
and traditional design possibilities.
The 'look' which can be created by choosing high gloss colours is endorsed
by some of BA Components' new door designs. In this instance, the emphasis
has centred on offering customers an opportunity to create a modern or
contemporary layout in their kitchen or bedroom. The company's new Venice,
Modena, Rimini and Roma designs in particular set out to achieve this
look. Using these with its new 36mm Multi-purpose Rail for 'bulking out',
it is now possible to achieve a chunky modern square design.

with dampers, super wide pull outs, aluminium framed glazed wall units

Avant
White, PWS Shining Example
PWS
new high gloss Avant White range is a shining example of chic contemporary
design. says the company. Introduced in response to the growing
trend for clean, minimal styling, the straight lines of the Avant slab
door combine with the reflective sheen to create a bright and airy interior.
The
simple style offers creative scope for the designer to introduce other
shapes and materials to dramatic effect. A selection of curved doors and
fascias add smooth contours, offering a host of design alternatives, such
as imposing shaped breakfast bars. Such sweeping curves and elegant lines
offer a softer design and a more individual layout.
Other interesting design features with this range include a selection
of three glass doors, a full screen glazed option and both horizontal
and vertical glazed letterbox models. Coupled with the radius ends and
curved doors and drawers the range has many accessories to create the
increasingly important personalised look. The simplicity of design lends
itself to contrast with other materials, particularly on the worksurface
front where timber, granite or composite stone can be used to dramatic
effect.
The Avant style is also available in three further finishes; cappuccino,
beige and ivory, reflecting the trend for light and natural colours in
kitchen. Avant White has achieved FIRA Gold Award, bringing the total
of PWS door ranges with Gold status to forty three.

Produce
Even Neater Curves with New Neatflex
Specialist
panel manufacturer Neat Concepts has
launched a new version of its Neatform Bendy MDF product the heavy
duty Neatflex Bendy Birch.
Neatflex
Bendy Birch is the speedy and simple way to produce inspirational curves,
and, being 19mm thick, is much thicker than Neatform Bendy MDF. It is
made be combining MDF Lite and Birch Plywood, and is therefore tougher.
The MDF Lite is 55% less dense than regular MDF and handles well.
Philip Brading, chairman of Neat Concepts, says, We had identified
that there was a market for a thicker version, which led us to produce
Neatflex Bendy Birch. Its strength and thickness means that robust structures
can be fabricated relatively quickly enabling labour costs to be reduced,
while still retaining Neatforms versatility.
Neatflex Bendy Birch can be combined with other products, including Neatform
Bendy MDF, plywood or laminate, in order to create frameless free-form
curves, and is suitable for heavy duty applications.
Both Neatform and Neatflex are the ultimate material for constructing
curved surfaces in both commercial and domestic interiors, for everything
from reception desks to exhibition stands and innovative architectural
features. adds Philip
The panels are worked in the same way as Neatform, and the Birch Ply face
is decorated with paint, foil, veneer and laminate. This plywood surface
doesnt crack open when bent, unlike flexible plywoods.

Burbidge
Launches Hoxton Light Walnut the Urban Chic Kitchen with Curves
and a Touch of Retro
UK
kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer, Burbidge,
is predicting that walnut will be the next major market trend in contemporary
kitchen design, and the launch of the companys new foil wrap kitchen
Hoxton Light Walnut reflects this.
Hoxton
Light Walnut is an extension to Burbidges already successful Hoxton
Light Birch foil wrap kitchen range which, with its curved frontals and
profiled cornices and end panels, has proven a popular choice with consumers
looking for a modern and streamlined, but unusual, kitchen.
The Hoxton Light Walnut range should be a popular choice with those consumers
looking for a chic, contemporary kitchen that has a retro feel. The natural,
matt, smoky mid-brown colouring of Hoxton Light Walnut gives the kitchen
a rich character, while complementing the curves and contours of the doors
and accessories. The sloped shape of the door is further accentuated with
a continuation into the surrounding profiles and panels.
Aluminium slim line handles, which are neatly tapered at each end, provide
an effective contrast to the kitchens rich walnut graining. Designed
with urban chic minimalism in mind, modern aluminium accessories would
complement the kitchen particularly well. The horizontally opening wall
cabinets and wide pan drawers feature green glass, which, according to
Burbidge, will be another popular design trend for 2005.
Managing director Ben Burbidge said: The success of Hoxton Light
Birch is testimony to the growing trend for contemporary, smooth, sleek,
curved lines in the urban kitchen, and spurred on by its popularity, we
introduced the walnut version. With walnut really being the colour to
watch in 2005, we are certain that Hoxton Light Walnut will prove successful.
The kitchen is strikingly modern, but the rich walnut colour gives it
a real retro feel which is very in vogue at the moment. It is ideal
for consumers looking for an ultra modern urban chic kitchen that will
really make a design statement.
Burbidge is a UK kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer. For further
information on the companys range of wood, painted, foil wrap and
metal frontals and accessories, please visit http://www.burbidge.co.uk
or call 024 7667 1600. Burbidges products can also be viewed in
realistic room sets in the companys showroom at its Coventry manufacturing
facility. The showroom is open five days a week between 9am and 5pm.

Distributors Ltd. has launched the new 'Chico' kitchen as part

Soft
Touch by Mepla - from Häfele
Mepla
says that it is setting new standards of precision for cabinet door operation
with the companys new Soft-close hinge system. Soft-close, they
say, smooths the action and damps the closure of concealed hinges in cabinets
for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. Or living rooms, offices ... or
anywhere else, come to that.
Mepla
hinges are now supplied with a facility to add an adaptor to allow Soft-close
to be installed at any stage - the furniture manufacturer can even extend
choice to the end user customer at the point of sale. This same level
of flexibility also covers the numbers of devices desirable for any given
cabinet.
Soft-close is visually harmonious, whether installed on new furniture
as part of the Mepla hinge assembly or retro-fitted into existing cabinets,
and the mechanism does not intrude inside the cabinet space. The number
of Soft-close devices required for any given cupboard space depends on
door size and weight - Mepla says that a single device is usually adequate
for a midsize door and that installation is fast, secure and completely
tool-free.
The Soft-close action gently slows closing of the cabinet door softly
and quietly
- the perfect balance, says Mepla, between form and function. The mechanism
is tool-free at all levels and continuously adjustable for tension, and
therefore closing pressures, on cabinet doors of all sizes and weights.
No additional borings to cabinet doors are required for the Soft-close
installation which makes the manufacture of cabinet runs quicker, more
efficient and also more cost effective. A cover cap is also available
from Häfele to finish concealed hinges that are not equipped with
the Soft-close mechanism.
