Something
Bold, Something Blue
Franke
has introduced Cobalt Blue to its portfolio of Fragranite (synthetic)
sink colours.
Cobalt Blue has been launched in response to a growing demand for darker
sink colours which provide a more dramatic contrast with aluminium and
stainless steel in the kitchen.
John Swain, product manager for Franke (UK), commented: 'The introduction
of colours such as Cobalt Blue is resulting in a resurgence in synthetic
sinks because these darker tones complement stainless steel accessories,
giving the kitchen a more striking look.'
Cobalt Blue is now available on the Mythos, Nautilus and Atlantis and
will provide consumers with an alternative to the Graphite Fragranite,
which is currently the sink manufacturers most popular synthetic
colour.
The Franke Fragranite is the toughest synthetic sink material available
and contains around 80% natural granite particles. It resists heat to
280°C and cannot be burnt, dented, chipped or stained.

Worksurfaces
the Natural Way from Orama - Wood Gets Bolder and Richer
Satisfying
a consumer trend for bolder and deeper effects, Orama,
the independent manufacturer of worksurfaces and associated decorative
products has given pre-eminence to the natural magnificence of wood in
its Ardesco range of worksurfaces. Orama's offer ranging from rich wooden
laminates like Natural Wenge (pictured) and Natural Rustic to a solid
Beech Block worksurface option has anticipated the popularity of natural
undertones.
The
new depths and quality tighter radius on edging now make laminates look
like a genuine solid piece of natural material. This is particularly striking
when contemplating a chunky 50mm worksurface, which can significantly
enhance a kitchen by creating a series of framing effects. Not only
can we now mimic the natural patterns of wood to striking effect with
three dimensional designs which provide the necessary depth, says
Peter Holt, sales and marketing director, Orama, but more importantly,
we can transform the worksurface into a tactile experience by adding texture
to the laminate.
Peter adds Wood is a raw material people trust. It is plain, yet
can considerably change the appearance of kitchen units. With more and
more consumers opting for original designs for their kitchen, which has
become the hub of the modern home, wood laminates can be combined with
stone or silica laminates to create a completely unique look.
A survey carried out by Orama amongst KBB professionals last year also
supported the view that natural looking materials would continue to enjoy
significant growth, with a marked consumer preference towards wood or
granite. Already in Europe, Wenge and Zebrano are at the height of their
popularity and are gradually integrating in mainstream kitchen styles.
All Orama's wood laminates are available in 3 metre lengths, which are
more convenient for kitchen specialists according to the company's extensive
market research.
Orama offers quality durable decorative panels and worksurfaces. Established
for many years, Orama holds ISO 9001 certification and the Furniture Industry
Research Association Gold Award for product performance. The company is
also a corporate member of the KBSA (Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialist
Association). All Orama's chipboard and solid timber products are sourced
from 'responsibly managed' forests.

Chic
Maple from PWS
The
new Gullwing Maple range from PWS'
Second Nature collection captures the essence of contemporary chic with
its simple mix of clean design and blonde maple colouring. The look is
light and airy, creating a sense of space in a range that unites versatile
styling with affordable pricing. The clean, neutral design offers a suitable
backdrop to mix and blend other materials and colours, such as sleek black
granite worktops and aluminium, to create a cool and modern interior.
Focal points in this kitchen are the aluminium framed glazed doors, which
are good for storing and displaying crockery. Likewise the worksurface
mounted tambour units look attractive but are suitable for hiding away
the less attractive utensils in the kitchen, with pull-out wire pan shelves
taking the strain out of lifting heavy cooking pots and pans. And a centrepiece
is created with the dramatic walnut island unit, which sits against the
black granite worktops. The chunky 50mm end panels with this range are
used to dramatic effect to frame feature areas such as open shelving and
tall units, they also look good when fitted with lights over the shelves.
Other features with this range include screen glazed doors in various
size options and curved radius ends, to create a more individual look
to the scheme.
The Gullwing design is also available in a warm calvados finish and both
ranges have achieved FIRA Gold Award bringing the total of PWS doors with
Gold Status to thirty nine.

Planners
Microcad
Software UK,
a developer of CAD software and creator of the Autokitchen package, has
launched AutoDecco: a stand-alone, fully-compatible interior-design solution
that specifically meets the needs of professional designers and space
planners.
An interior-design solution powered by AutoCAD, AutoDecco creates floor
plans, elevations, perspectives, 3D views and notations, quickly and easily.
The new software significantly speeds up the design process by creating
previews of the scheme in a virtual environment with high-quality colour
images and pricing reports produced automatically.
The simple but powerful AutoDecco software offers a wide range of benefits
including fast and accurate architectural drawings (with a variety of
finishes to create photo-like images), the ability to view the design
from different angles, and edit any element of the design, such as reference
number, dimension or finish. The software also features tools for inserting
dimensions, notes for fitters, installation symbols and codes, together
with the ability to 'walk through' the design visualising the finishes.
In order to better meet the needs of designers, Microcad Software UK has
launched two versions of the software, both fully compatible with AutoCAD
applications. The first, AutoDecco Studio, features four generic furniture
catalogues, including residential, office, bath and kitchen; while the
second, AutoDecco Pro, incorporates a Catalogue Editor facility.
With Catalogue Editor the user is able to import different objects created
by AutoCAD, to expand and personalise generic catalogues, and even create
new ones - saving time and money. In addition, AutoDecco Pro features
Microcad Software's Quote programme as standard, which automatically generates
a price list from the details entered.
In addition, Microcad Software UK offers comprehensive customer service.
Any technical questions can be quickly answered by email, telephone or
via an online meeting which allows users to see solutions in a 'hands-on'
environment. All AutoDecco users automatically receive six months free
support via email.

Alno
Extends its Alnotec Pro Kitchen Range with Four High Gloss Colours
German
kitchen manufacturer, Alno. has extended
its Alnotec Pro range with four high gloss colours; brilliant white, brilliant
red, graphite metallic and brilliant black.
The
door and drawer fronts are finished in a high gloss laminate and framed
in an aluminium frame. The high grade laminate coating provides lasting
protection against scratches and are light and heat resistant. To complete
this ultra modern look Alno offers over 20 aluminium and aluminium effect
knobs. D-handles and bar handles, glass doors and drawers and aluminium
roller shutters.
Alno says it is renowned for its innovative designs and creative ideas
including:
Different Working Heights
Alno has developed a modular system, which provides varying heights for
individual base units. Following extensive research, it was discovered
that most cooks find the standard height too high for using a hob and
too low for washing up, causing back and neck problems. With an Alno kitchen
every customer can work at their ideal height, no matter what they are
doing, from washing up and cooking on a hob to preparing food, as the
modular base units allow for several choices in heights. In addition,
there is a hydraulic table that sits on the worktop, which can be adjusted
easily to any height, creating more worktop space or to simply make chopping
vegetables easier.
Storage Solutions
Maximising storage is very important for most kitchens and Alno has incorporated
many features, including a niche midway sliding rail system for accessories,
with fixed sink and hob splash protectors to hide accessories behind when
not in use. The Magic Corner system has been recently redesigned to increase
storage by up to 38%, suitable for storing pots and pans. Other space-saving
features include drawer management systems, pull-out warming plate, chopping
board, magnetic knife holder and much more. Extra-depth base units and
worktops also provide more working space as well as storage.
Servo-soft
Closing System for Drawers
The Servo-soft closing system prevents drawers from slamming shut. This
prolongs the liife of the units, keeps the contents from being thrown
to the back and prevents little fingers from being accidentally hurt.
lntelligent Lighting
Alno has several lighting solutions including automatic lights that turn
on when you open a base unit and help with finding utensils, jars etc.
Wall lights, as part of the niche midway rail system, and soft strip lights
between units create an inviting atmosphere.
The Finishing Touches
Alno offers a choice of 45 laminate and solid wood worktops. Alno says
that it is one of the few manufacturers to offer a choice of carcase to
match or contrast with the door and drawer fronts, offering 23 different
options of simulated wood, veneered wood, high gloss and laminate colours.
All Alno kitchens are built to meet ISO 9001 standards and have the GS-sign
for proven safety. The Alno factory in Germany has also received the Eco-audit
certificate for its environmentally friendly manufacture. Alno UK is also
a full corporate member of the KBSA, Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom Specialists
Association.

Come
Back to Colour with the new ZX Granite Sink Range
'With
the growing resurgence of colour and texture within the home, Carron
Phoenix new ZX range of granite sinks is exactly on cue,
bringing visual warmth and tactile sensuality to the kitchen workspace.
says the company.
ZX is aimed at repositioning Carrons classic material in the
mid to upper end of the market. With its simple lines and free flowing
design, ZX gives a refreshingly new dimension to granite as you currently
know it. With its fusion of contemporary materials and ergonomic lines,
ZX takes granite into the arena of modern kitchen design. ZX also has
functional features with a stainless steel overflow grid and well designed,
robust accessories that give all the benefits of a workcentre sink.
To
complement ZX, Carron Phoenix has also introduced the Zinia tap which
is available in chrome, brushed stainless steel or the five matching granite
finishes for a completely co-ordinated look. The sweeping curves of the
tap body, coupled with the ergonomic features of the directionable spout
and joystick lever make it a suitable design addition the ZX workspace.
The ZX range comes in five colours offering a tactile quality. Some are
enriched with fine metallic particles giving a subtle pearlescent sheen
for an interesting contemporary twist. The five colours are Graphite,
Platinum, Cobalt, Polar White and Champagne. ZX is available in two model
sizes: the ZX100 single bowl and the ZX150 one and a half bowl which are
suitable for a minimum cabinet size of 600mm and 700mm respectively. And
whatever the worksurface timber, laminate, granite or solid surface
ZX is designed to cope with a range of materials and installation
options for inset, undermount or flushmount. As with all granite sinks
from Carron Phoenix, ZX offers performance and durability and comes with
a lifetime guarantee.
Comments Denis Sweeney, sales and marketing manager:
Sales of our coloured granite sinks have consistently grown year
on year over the past decade which may seem surprising to some
given the huge swing towards stainless steel in recent years. Colour is
officially a hot topic again for interiors and ZXs contemporary
sink design gives retailers the opportunity to integrate colour within
modern kitchen concepts. Although early days, we have had already had
a fantastic reaction from the launch and we are very optimistic about
its prospects.
Carron Phoenix has introduced a total of three new sink styles and four
new taps. For further information on Carron Phoenix products or a copy
