PWS Offers More Full Stave Timber Worktop Solutions

Keeping its timber worksurface portfolio in tune with emerging trends, PWS has extended its full stave timber offer with three additional species. Cherry, iroko and walnut bring the line-up of PWS full stave species to seven, enhancing the existing range of maple, prime beech, rustic beech and rustic oak.

Full stave worksurfaces offer a point of difference to standard timber tops as the staves vary between 80mm to 150mm in width and run the full length of the board revealing a greater emphasis on the natural grain and character of the timber.

The full stave range is offered in 40mm thickness in lengths of 1500mm, 2000mm and 2400mm (due to the use of prime timber in construction 3m and 4m lengths are not available).

Comments Philip Eeles, Worksurface Business Manager at PWS, 'With the status of the worksurface elevating beyond recognition in recent years, timber worksurfaces are now a burgeoning trend in all positions of the market. As the popularity of natural materials such as timber continues to gather pace, the launch of three more species as full stave options is an entirely natural progression for us. These new options come hot on the heels of our recent introductions of wenge and bamboo to our standard timber range, and further cements our commitment to offer the most comprehensive and inspirational range of timber worksurfaces on the market'.

J&J Ormerod Continues to Forge Fashions with Cherry Cologne Kitchen

J&J Ormerod PLC, the independent UK manufacturer of kitchens and bedrooms, has recently introduced its Colonial Cologne kitchen in Cherry. The distinctive door strikes a balance between style and functionality; combining a classic door with a modern finish plus storage solutions.

‘J&J Ormerod’s Cologne Cherry kitchen pioneers a new era in timber ‘effect’ surfaces, with the vinyl finish being hailed as the most realistic timber-look finish available on the market. The rich cherry colour is complemented by a vertical grain, with the whole door being accentuated with an aluminium trim. The overall effect is both striking and modern.’ says the company.

‘Cherry is the ‘colour of the moment’ and the Cologne styling – large simple doors combined with deep drawers – marries the most fashionable colour with the most fashionable door and drawer styles.’

The Cologne kitchen incorporates Blum’s storage solutions for optimal use of kitchen storage space. Features include hidden drawers and bi-fold walls with bridging units in order to render ‘dead space’ in the kitchen redundant.

The Cherry finish is available on a wide range of units including a range of wall and base units, drawer packs, larders and accessories. Prices start from £119 for a 700cm Cologne base unit in Cherry and £114 for a wall unit. A comprehensive range of optional extras are also available to complement the rich cherry finish, including shelf lights and halogen downlights. In addition, J&J Ormerod offers over 100 different handles. The company recommends using the 128mm matt chrome strap handle with the Cologne Cherry kitchen as this typifies the current trend for wide contemporary units with contrasting metal handles.

A Glass Act from Burbidge

Burbidge has introduced a new metallic glazed door that the company says will add interest to any contemporary kitchen design.

Part of Burbidge’s Al-Tec collection of aluminium accessories, this urban chic new glass door is distinctive for its unusual aluminium coloured reflective glass. Not only does it look ultra modern in style, with no frame or detailing, it also offers practical benefits in that its reflective qualities helps create an impression of light and space.

Available in a variety of widths, the 355mm high frontal can be used to create points of focus in the kitchen in the form of wall cupboards or pan drawers. As with all Al-Tec accessories, it has been designed to complement any of Burbidge’s contemporary kitchens and provides a contrast to any type of wood or coloured frontals, including the new Zamora white design as pictured.

Ben Burbidge, managing director, comments: ‘Glass as a material is particularly fashionable, yet can be difficult to incorporate into a kitchen design if practical ‘invisible’ storage is an issue. With this particular glass door we’re enabling kitchen designers to provide consumers with a glazed door that looks fabulous, but is also practical in that it reflects the light, and has an opaque finish that will hide from view whatever’s stored behind it.’

Burbidge is a UK kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer. For further information on the company’s range of wood, painted, foil wrap and metal frontals and accessories and its Al-Tec collection of aluminium accessories, please visit http://www.burbidge.co.uk or call 024 7667 1600. Burbidge’s products can also be viewed in realistic room sets in the company’s showroom at its Coventry manufacturing facility. The showroom is open five days a week between 9am and 5pm.

Rich Rustic Charm with PWS' new Bede Range

Responding to the increased demand for simple rustic styling, PWS has extended its Second Nature kitchen collection with the new Bede timber range.

The solid oak door with its stepped design combine to create a kitchen that is rich in rustic touches. The unison of classic styling and traditional oak offers an air of simple country charm.

Comments Andrew Langford, PWS' Marketing Manager, ‘In short, Bede is the ultimate in timeless appeal, and initial feedback indicates it is set to become another great PWS classic. And mix this essentially rustic design with a wealth of accessories and feature doors and the result is everything that's needed to create a truly welcoming and easy-to-live with interior.

'There is a definite demand for classic kitchens, but with a simple styling in place of the fussy and intricate detailing once associated with typically traditional designs. Bede achieves a country charm but reflects a more modern approach with the fresh oak colouring, wide drawer options and gently contoured feature ends. With more kitchens becoming the key 'living room' in the home, Bede is a great example of how a kitchen range can comfortably and successfully extend into a dining or easy seating area. A beautiful dresser for example, can create a seamless link between the functional cooking zone and the more sociable parts of the kitchen.'

Bede brings the line-up of solid timber doors in the PWS classic collection to five, and will build on the success of the Croft Oak range and the more recent Eden Oak, Eden Classic and Eden Sanded collections. And as with the Croft Oak and Eden ranges, Bede has achieved registered design status due to its distinctive design and also holds the FIRA Gold Award.

‘The Red Label brand builds on all the attributes that have established Keller as the first choice with designers and consumers – quality, product and colour range, versatility, innovation and competitive pricing – and will enable them to exploit dynamic, contemporary inspiration to the full.’ says the company. ‘In addition, Red Label is joined by the Black Label collection, a new concept in striking and exclusive handleless kitchens.’

Six new ranges have been introduced to coincide with the launch of Red Label: Cashel, Country, Lomond, Montana, Orleans and Shannon. Loes Jongeneelen, Keller’s Marketing Manager, comments: ‘Keller has been listening to its customers and has expanded its factory operations to enable it to produce all its own foil doors and, as a consequence, extend its range. What is more we have improved the quality of our products even further without increasing prices.’

Upwardly Mobile Sliding Doors by Eku - from Häfele

Swiss specialist Eku has launched a new vertically sliding door system called Libra, now available from UK distributor Häfele for the timber or glass doors of cabinet furniture. The trend towards vertically sliding doors on kitchen and living room furniture, says Häfele, is on the increase - particularly for glass and especially for the semi frosted look that adds a touch of mystery to the cabinet contents.

As well as being a smart visual treatment for cabinets, Libra brings functionality in a new dimension - a smooth and effortless action that is a pleasure to use. But Libra also brings benefits for the interior designer or the joiner charged with assembly, whether on the shop floor or on site in the customer's own premises.

In addition to its obvious appeal for domestic cabinetry, Eku's Libra system also has appeal in commercial, retail and corporate situations. The design is unique to Eku and is versatile enough to operate one or two doors, either inset or overlaid.

The running gear is precision made to allow near silent operation and the surface mounted track offers an aesthetically pleasing look. Tracking is also sufficiently robust to handle vertically sliding timber or aluminium framed glass cupboard doors.

A synchronised version of Libra for bi-parting panels is also available and among the advantages to the joiner are that the surface fixing of the fittings requires no machining of the cupboard carcase. Both versions of the system will accommodate doors weighing up to 20kg and measuring 1000mm in height - the glass door version takes 4mm glass panels and the timber version will accept a door up to 16mm in thickness.

Libra by Eku is in stock in volume at the Rugby warehouses of Häfele UK where availability is within 48 hours of order placement, according to architectural glass systems manager Gary King.

Autumn Launch for Two New Doors from Mereway Kitchens

Mereway Kitchens has announced two new ranges to be released this autumn. New Integra American Walnut and Redmond Light Oak will be launched in October as part of plans to strengthen Mereway Kitchens presentation of wooden doors within the company’s portfolio.

Mereway Kitchens first showcased the Integra American Walnut door at B&K Expo at ExCel, London earlier this year in order to determine customer thoughts on the presentation of continental style products from a British manufacturer. The company says that feedback from the show was excellent, with this door and several other concept ranges receiving a rapturous reception by all visitors to the stand.

The new Integra American Walnut is made from MFC with a walnut veneer. Featuring a rich horizontal grain effect to the centre and dark walnut vertically grained stiles, this use of a multi-directional grain within a single door demonstrates European styling. In addition, the use of an integrated letterbox style handle provides a practical yet stylish access solution.

The new Redmond Light Oak features a solid oak frame and centre panel, and offers the same authentic knotted finish as the already popular Redmond Antique Oak. The new Light Oak will benefit from the collection of feature pieces available for this range and is designed to meet the increasing consumer demand for wooden door finishes in a contemporary style.

‘Mereway Kitchens has a commitment to deliver quality products, whilst continually investing in product development. New product introductions and constant innovation, combined with an emphasis on quality will ensure that Mereway Kitchens has a bright future.’ Says Len Ball, National Sales Manager.

Enjoy a Smooth Cappuccino with PWS’ Avant Range

PWS says ‘Smooth is the key word for any modern kitchen design, and PWS’ new Avant Cappuccino is as streamlined as you can get. Inviting and inspiring with an impressive high gloss finish, the rich coffee tone oozes sophistication, a truly chic contemporary design. The highly reflective finish of the simple slab door has a style that is easy on the eye, creating a light and airy atmosphere.’

The combination of understated styling and subtle coffee colouring opens up a host of design opportunities, working well with other materials such as timber, glass and stainless steel.

And for a touch of individuality and a slightly softer approach, opt for sweeping curves that will add shape and style to the kitchen scheme. The range of curved doors and fascias offer a host of design alternatives, such as imposing shaped breakfast bars.

Other interesting design features with this range include a selection of three glass doors, a full screen glazed option and both horizontal and vertical glazed letterbox models. Coupled with the radius ends and curved doors and drawers the range has many accessories to create the increasingly important personalised look.

The Avant design is available in three further finishes; white, beige and ivory, reflecting the trend for light and natural colours in kitchen.
