The
Franke Laser Sink: For a Super Sleek Installation
With
a patented fixing system, the stainless steel Laser sink from Franke
is designed to be ten times quicker to install than a conventional sink.
It also offers a super-slim edge profile which is virtually flush with
the work surface and adds an extra, deeper dimension to both the bowl
and drainer.
The top-mounted Laser range incorporates patented Franke Slimfix System
fixing clips which automatically grip the worktop thus saving the time-consuming
job of attaching clips or tightening screws beneath the sink.
Installation of the Laser sink is complete in a few easy stages. Firstly,
the supplied template is applied to the worktop and drawn around with
a pencil, next; a jigsaw is used to cut out the worktop, before checking
the cut-out is correct by using the template. Mastic sealant is then applied
around the edge of the cut-out, and the sink is simply lowered into position
and pushed into place - when the unique clips seize and grip the worktop.
Sleek in form, the Laser has been conceived to enhance the good looks
of any kitchen. The super-slim profile of the sink's lip means that the
bowl and drainer are wider and the aesthetics of the deep, recessed wet
area more sculpted.
The Laser sink comes in silk finish, stainless steel and is available
in both single and bowl and a half versions with the option of left or
right-hand drainers. A 35mm tap hole is provided and the 90mm basket strainer
waste is capable of adaptation for a waste disposal unit. Bespoke accessories
comprise a sliding glass preparation platter and, for the bowl and a half
sink, a stainless steel strainer bowl. Franke recommends the Eiger tap
to complement the Laser range, however any one of the extensive range
of taps on offer would suit this model.

Outside
Access from Franke
Staying
in is the new going out and families are, once again, enjoying cooking
together - making the evening meal a family affair that's sociable and
fun. As designers open up the kitchen to the dining room to make more
room for additional chefs, so the products that go into the space need
careful consideration.
One-and-a-half bowl sinks are extremely popular in this situation, enabling
home owners extra sink access while the main bowl is occupied. Taking
the concept to the next level, Franke
has launched the new MTX 661 sink, part of its Specialist Mythos range,
which has the half bowl on the outside instead of the middle for easier
access. No more reaching over the 'pot washer' to strain the vegetables,
this model is an excellent ergonomic choice, especially for kitchens that
don't have room for an additional prep sink elsewhere.
Fitting into a 600mm cabinet, the MTX 661 is a definite space-saver in
the kitchen, and has a stylish silk finish that is easy to keep clean.
Incorporating a slide-and-glide glass food preparation platter and stainless
steel strainer bowl, this is the ultimate tool for the busy family kitchen
and will create a sleek and stylish design statement. All Franke sinks
are guaranteed for 25 years against manufacturing defect as standard.

Black
Magic with PWS' new Avant
PWS
says that its new Avant Black will add more than a touch of drama to the
interior. It's funky and fashionable, contemporary and cool but without
any hard edges.
Taking
a softer approach to the stark, minimal look often associated with slab
gloss doors, Avant Black's hallmark is shape, with sweeping curves and
the introduction of glass to create an altogether lighter, airy and spacious
interior. Black is the classic colour that is defined by its sheer timelessness.
It's a stunning canvas for contrast with other colours and materials,
demonstrated here with sparkling ice white composite stone worksurfaces,
and to avoid the look becoming too clinical, warmth is added with the
deep walnut timber breakfast bar.
Comments Andrew Langford, PWS' Marketing Manager, 'This is a look that's
popular with anyone who wants a kitchen that they can be sure will retain
its contemporary feel for years to come and its softer design creates
an interior for easy living. The style has essentially evolved from a
very clean-lined minimal design to one that's rich in shape and texture
mixing beautiful materials such as timber and glass with curves and other
interesting features. Alongside the extensive range of standard Avant
range feature accessories, a new specially designed glazed curved wall
door has been introduced with the black option. This is a real showpiece
and creates a spacious and airy interior with contemporary appeal.'
PWS' new black gloss joins the successful line-up of Avant colours, including
white, ivory, beige and cappuccino. The full Avant family of gloss doors
have achieved FIRA Gold status.

Period
Glamour with PWS' Vanbrugh
Paying
homage to period style, PWS' new Vanbrugh
is influenced by the elegance of the Edwardian era and the graceful symmetry
of its architecture yet embraces the vogue for mixing old and new. The
traditional in-frame design with intricate and enchanting detailing has
elements of period glamour, with the extensive selection of features giving
a modern confidence to the range.
PWS
says that Vanbrugh is certain to breathe new life into any scheme and
the sophisticated and enticing palette of design options will satisfy
the most demanding tastes. Vanbrugh's line-up of accessories are sympathetic
to Edwardian design yet enable the latest functionality and hi-tech systems
to be incorporated to create a kitchen that answers all the demands of
modern living. The range also has some traditional fascia combinations
to create a classic butler's pantry or an ancilliary chest, with up-to-date
wide drawers and curved elements for a more simply styled look.
Comments Andrew Langford, PWS' Marketing Manager, 'Vanbrugh has been developed
to respect the architecture of the Edwardian period yet with the ability
to be adapted to a more informal look. For example, the cream finish is
perfect for mixing with other materials such as natural timber, which
immediately creates a warmer and homely feel. We have been delighted with
the response to our Milton ranges launched in February and are confident
that Vanbrugh will be a popular addition to the new in-frame collection.'
Vanbrugh has achieved FIRA Gold status and brings the PWS door portfolio
to 55 models with a mix of materials and styles. For further details on

Architectural
Aesthetics with Proline 128 Range
Pronorm,
the rigid German kitchen furniture brand, has noticed a strong trend within
the premium sector towards kitchens with banks of units which gives a
very strong structural feel within the kitchen.
Suitable for creating this architectural look is its Proline 128 range
which offers extensive design scope to create sophisticated and seamless
runs of wall and base units with total flexibility of heights and widths.
Says Jason Grinton, Business Manager for UK & Ireland:
We are seeing very strong demand for our Proline 128 range currently
as it gives designers the flexibility to design with clean, structural
lines while observing the ergonomic need for functional storage and varied
heights that suit each individual user.
Proline 128 excels in ergonomics because the working heights for preparation,
cooking, washing up and eating can be designed to the bespoke needs of
the user. This eliminates any strain on the back while optimising functionality
and user-friendliness.
Proline 128 is named after 128mm being the significant measurement. The
concept centres on all the kitchen door and drawer products being based
on a height of 128mm or multiples of it. With the benefit of a larger
standard base unit and narrower plinth, Proline 128 offers an extra 10%
storage space compared to the average kitchen unit. It also offers a cleaner
visual aesthetic, as the gap between doors and drawers has been reduced
down to a neat 4mm.
The Proline 128 concept is available in over 60 Pronorm door designs.

Beauty
in Glass with FGI's Decoran
Decoran
- the distinctive design solution for kitchen and bathroom surfaces is
now in the UK and available to order from, Manchester based, Float
Glass Industries.
This striking, 100% recycled material combines a unique visual appeal
with remarkable 3D properties to eclipse many other widely used materials
such as natural stone, granite and marble for kitchen & bathroom surfaces.
Decoran therefore offers huge design potential for all sorts of high-end
decorative items, from kitchen worktops, islands and splashbacks to shower
screens and wet room panels.
Decoran is available in a variety of colours, textures and degrees of
opacity, translucency or partial transparency for use in a wide range
of kitchen and bathroom applications. Furthermore, as it is made from
100% recycled glass cullet it is a totally sustainable material and does
not contain resins making it an environmentally sound solution - an increasingly
important consideration in the modern building industry.
Unlike stone, which is porous, Decoran has superb anti-stain, anti-acid
qualities and surface wear resistance, thereby providing a long lasting
and easy to maintain material for demanding environments. Also, the translucent
products can be backlit, offering beautiful illuminated and textured options
for today's kitchen and bathroom designers.
Decoran is available from FGI in a variety of colours including the translucent
options which produce an illuminated glow when back lit. As a further
benefit, the use of high-grade inorganic colour pigments in the 'solid'
products ensures excellent colourfastness.
Most products in the range can be supplied with a high quality polished
surface to suit modern interiors or alternatively a 'hammered' finish,
which provides a textured matt appearance to the surface.
In addition to its obvious aesthetic appeal, Decoran has recently passed
FGI's in-house impact resistance tests as detailed in the new European
standard EN12600:2002. This standard relates to the impact test method
and classification for flat glass used in buildings with the sample tested
remaining intact even at the maximum 1200mm drop height.
Decoran and Structuran (a sister product for use in external applications)
is supplied cut to size and with fully finished edgework.
Further details on Float Glass Industries' full range of glass products
and services, including advice on specification, are available at http://www.floatglass.co.uk.
