Carron
Phoenix Launches New Products for 2004 in Historic Setting
Coombe
Abbey was the setting for Carron Phoenixs
major product launch for 2004. Against a backdrop of 12th century tradition,
Carron Phoenix hit a top note of modern design with its new offering of
sinks and taps. The event was attended by more than 80 representatives
from Carrons national distribution network.
Following an afternoon presentation led by Denis Sweeney, sales and marketing
manager, guests were then shown round a mini exhibition showcasing all
the new products, rounded off with a medieval banquet of rustic food,
entertainment and general merriment.
Carron
Phoenix has upped its sink offer with three new additions. Star of the
new line up is the ZX range of granite sinks, strategically aimed at repositioning
Carrons classic material in the mid to upper end of the market.
With its simple lines and free flowing design, ZX takes granite
into the arena of modern kitchen design. It is available in two models
that have the flexibility to be inset, undermounted or flushmounted. The
palette of five plain colours offers a contemporary twist with a subtle
pearlescent sheen. Next comes Arristo Pro-Centre offering semi professional
stainless steel workstations in a choice of models and finishes. This
range also includes the Pro-Centre 50 which combines all the functionality
and style of a workstation with the flexibility of a huge single bowl
- suitable for small areas.
Completing the sink line-up is Select 105 with its large sink area and
extra workspace. This model combines the features and benefits of a workstation,
along with a semi professional feel in the popular inset sink option.
The tap offer is boosted with four new additions. Following the successful
launch of the Tri-Pure filter tap and the growing popularity of pure drinking
water, Carron has introduced a new pewter finish, alongside chrome. The
Zinia tap, with sweeping curves and directionable spout is styled to complement
the new ZX range. It is available in chrome or a choice of five granite
finishes to match ZX.
Cubex marries vintage and modern in one with sleek chrome lines and square
quarter turn handles, while Jemma delivers a tap high on features at entry
level pricing.
Comments Denis Sweeney:
I am delighted with the positive response we had to our new products
ZX in particular. The range is an important platform for us to
take granite into the future of kitchen design. Coloured sinks, despite
the massive swing towards stainless steel, have always remained a strong
part of our sink portfolio, and there is now definitely a trend again
towards colour in the home. We believe ZX has a strong proposition for
the mid to upper end of the market.

Ariston
Enhances Europrisma
Ariston
has given its Europrisma unvented multipoint water heaters a contemporary
new look. All models in the range have stylish new casing combining curved
contours with an attractive blue and white colour scheme. Ariston has
also harmonised the degree of protection against the ingress of water
to IPX1 (drip proof) across the range. In addition, the smaller capacity
models now feature a built-in on/off switch for easier operation via the
control panel.
A technologically advanced mains pressure water heater, Ariston's Europrisma
is asuitable choice where a relatively small but constant supply of hot
water is required, even to a number of different outlets. The range includes
10, 15 and 30 litre models fitted with a 3kW electric heating element
for fast heat-up times. The 10 and 15 litre versions are also available
with 2kW power and are offered in undersink and oversink configurations.
The 30 litre capacity Europrisma is designed for oversink applications
only.
Ariston's Europrisma unvented water heaters provide a compact solution
where there is no central hot water system, or where it is not convenient
to extend the existing one. Typical examples include small industrial
units, warehouses and medical surgeries, as well as additional bathrooms
and loft conversions in residential installations. All models in the Ariston
Europrisma range have a durable vitreous enamel coated steel tank, which
is pressure tested and incorporates a large magnesium anode to counter
internal corrosion. The water heaters have an easily adjustable external
temperature control for energy-saving purposes and are fitted with an
integral safety thermostat to prevent over-heating. All units are CE certified
and WRAS and WRc approved and are supplied with a three warranty on the
tank.
Alnosign
Now in Vanilla
A
modern, high gloss design, Alnosign
has introduced a third contemporary colour, vanilla, to the range, which
also offers white and arctic grey.
The
softly rounded laminated door and drawer fronts and cabinetry are finished
in a quality high-gloss lacquer. Multi-layered, Alno's high gloss lacquer
is very durable, stain resistant, distortion-free and easy to clean. To
complete the look there is a choice of over 60 different handles or knobs,
including aluminium, chrome, stainless steel and brass and 45 laminate,
slim and solid wood worktops. Alno says it is one of the few manufacturers
to offer different coloured cabinetry to match or contrast door and drawer
fronts, including 25 different simulated veneered woods and colours.
As one of the largest kitchen manufacturers in Europe, Alno says it is
renowned for its innovative designs and creative ideas, including:
* Different Working Heights
Alno has developed a modular system, which provides varying heights for
individual base units. Following extensive research, it was discovered
that most cooks find the standard height for working at too high for using
a hob and too low for washing up, causing back and neck problems. With
an Alno kitchen every customer can work at their ideal height, no matter
what they are doing, from washing up and cooking on a hob to preparing
food, as the modular base units allow for several choices in heights.
In addition, there is a hydraulic table that sits on the worktop, which
can be adjusted easily to any height, creating more worktop space or to
simply make chopping vegetables easier.
* Storage Solutions
Maximising storage is very important for most kitchens and Alno has incorporated
many features, including a niche midway sliding rail system for accessories,
with fixed sink and hob splash protectors to hide accessories behind when
not in use. The Magic Corner system has been recently redesigned to increase
storage by up to 38%, suitable for storing pots and pans. Other space-saving
features include drawer management systems, pull-out warming plate, chopping
board, magnetic knife holder and much more. Extra-depth base units and
worktops also provide more working space as well as storage.
Recently introduced, the Rieber Waterstation is so much more than a sink
- the carousel base unit offers a generous amount of storage, sliding
accessories including a chopping board, multiple bowls and pull out sprays
to make preparation work easy.
* Servo-soft Closing System for Drawers
The 'Servo-soft closing' system prevents drawers from slamming shut. This
prolongs the life of the units, keeps the contents from being thrown to
the back and prevents little fingers from being accidentally hurt.
* Intelligent Lighting
Alno has several innovative lighting solutions including automatic lights
that turn on when you open a base unit help with finding utensils, jars
etc. Wall lights, as part of the niche midway rail system, and soft strip
lights between units create an inviting atmosphere.
All Alno kitchens are built to meet ISO 9001 standards and have the GS-sign
for proven safety. The Alno factory in Germany has also received the Eco-audit
certificate for its environmentally friendly manufacture.

New
Deep, Dark, Designer Looks from K Kitchens
K
Kitchens,
a division of The Kitchen Group, has launched a new contemporary door
range as part of its new 2004 collection. The Khloe Wenge kitchen, a warm
brown door design, complements the company's already established white
gloss Khloe door - and produces attractive results when mixed and matched.
Added designer appeal is provided from long bar, brushed aluminium handles
- and the distinctive saponetta styled curved doors are simple, yet striking.
K Kitchens says this unique look will appeal to discerning home owners
seeking an ultra modern look - minimalist, yet with warm undertones.
Available in a variety of dimensions, the new Khloe Wenge kitchen features
a new sized unit - a 800mm drawer pack - suitable for storing large and
awkward kitchen utensils.
The smooth and streamlined good looks of the kitchen are also enhanced
with an aluminium effect plinth and an extra thick 50mm worktop with stainless
steel edge. Available from Orama, via K Kitchens, this Midnight Granite
Gloss worktop forms part of the recently launched new 'Ardesco' range,
with a high gloss, mirror flat finish.
Speaking of the Khloe Wenge kitchen, marketing manager Sally Parkinson
said: The unmistakable European influences in this kitchen make
it a very fashionable design for a contemporary interior. The mixture
of brown and white units results in a unique and trendy look, complemented
further with stainless steel, aluminium and metallic accessories and extra's.

Leisure
Sinks Opens New Doors with the Keyhole Sink
Leisure
has unveiled its new Keyhole sink. Fusing creativity, functionality and
aesthetic appeal, the design of the Keyhole sink is a concept that complements
today's developing trend for contemporary kitchen styles.
Designed in the shape of a keyhole, its low profile edges provides a flush,
uncluttered and hygienic look. The practical recessed drainer is deep
enough to fill with water when hand washing or cleaning large trays or
grill pans, limiting water spillage on to the worktop. It also makes a
good, no fuss food preparation area.
The incorporation of a large, round bowl into the design, makes it suitable
for rinsing non-dishwashable items, such as over-sized pans and woks.
Available in single, 1.5 bowl and single bowl with scrap tray options.
A new design-led Keyhole tap has been introduced to match the sink and
has a chrome finish and features a ceramic disc and two quarter turn handles.
Optional accessories designed to further enhance the appearance and practicality
of the keyhole sink comprise:
* Red Heart Beech chopping board that can both cover the bowl and provide
a useful preparation area
* Stainless steel trivet can be used in the deep drainer and doubles up
as a pot stand.
* Stainless steel plate rack which fits over the drainer or could stand
alone.
* Stainless steel strainer for the half bowl
High
Gloss Cream in Wellmann's New Kitchen Collection
Wellmann's
latest kitchen (w4-314) is a high gloss cream design with flush fronts,
matching cabinet surrounds and a large range ofco-ordinated handles. Cream
has become the most popular colour for kitchen furniture and the high
gloss effect has only been available in more expensive kitchens. However
Wellmann has employed the latest production techniques and used a high
gloss laminate. This is a more cost-effective process than applying many
coats of gloss lacquer and gives a durable, clean surface.
When combined with metallic effects or linear wood designs the high gloss
cream takes on a sophisticated contemporary look. Those with traditional
tastes can use tiles, colour contrasts and wood decors to suit individual
applications. The flush front conceals a wealth of optional storage aids.
Ingenious corner devices and pull outs bring the cabinet contents to you
and drop down compartments from the rear of wall cabinets retain VDU screens,
DIY tools and medicines.
Wellmann's w4-314 high gloss cream kitchen is available through 40 In-toto
showrooms and selected independent kitchen specialists. Wellmann has a
dedicated contract division to handle builder business.

Burbidge
gets Crafty with Wood
With
its new Lansdowne design Burbidge,
the UK manufacturer of kitchen frontals and accessories, has revived traditional
crafts to give the classic Shaker design a shapely new look.
Made
from grained North American rock maple this new kitchen demonstrates just
how creative British craftsmanship in wood can be.
The ancient craft of marquetry, in which woods that offer different colours,
grains and textures are combined to create eyecatching patterns, has been
revived to produce door and drawer frontals that feature marquetry panels.
The marquetry detailing on these feature doors complements the standard
extra-wide-framed maple doors as do the curved pan drawer frontals also
available with the new Lansdowne kitchen. These curved door and drawer
frontals alter the geometry of any run of kitchen cabinets, and can be
used to create a curvaceous corner as pictured. For ease of installation,
the 600mm and 800mm wide curved pan drawers have been designed to fit
onto standard carcasses with the application of a simple filler piece
available from Burbidge.
Also in the Lansdowne range is a glass framed door option, and a variety
of complementary rock maple accessories including a rounded canopy that
echoes the design of the curved doors, open end units, rounded pilasters
and contemporary shaped worktop edging as well as a solid oak pre-oiled
inset worktop for use with the curved doors (as pictured).
Ben Burbidge, Managing Director comments: Were very proud
of this design as it demonstrates how traditional wood crafts can be used
to create contemporary kitchens for today.
For more information about the Burbidge range of kitchen frontals and
accessories, please visit http://www.burbidge.co.uk
or call 0247667 1600.
Products can also be viewed in realistic room sets in a dedicated showroom
at Burbidges Coventry manufacturing facility. The showroom is open

Vintec
Launches Dual Temperature Under Counter Stainless Steel Wine Cellar
As
more and more people decide to capitalise on the value of their properties,
the one room in the house that can really raise property values is the
kitchen. As kitchen designers are able to produce more and more original
plans and with storage always a key factor, VinGarde,
distributors of Vintec products, has launched an under-counter wine cellar
for the kitchen which will fit into a standard sized aperture.
The attractive V40 2e model, which comes in stainless steel or black,
has a capacity of 40 bottles and comes with plenty of features. It can
be used purely as a wine cellar or, with a simple adjustment of the temperature
controls, it becomes a dual temperature model. It is then able to store
both white and red wines at their separate optimal serving temperatures.
White wine or Champagne can be kept in the top compartment at 6-8 degrees
C, perfect for drinking, while the lower compartment holds red wine at
the correct serving temperature of 17-18 degrees C. By accommodating both
reds and whites, this appliance provides excellent wine storage in a controlled
environment. Being an under counter built - in appliance, it has front
venting and is fan assisted to ensure even temperature distribution.
With more and more people opting to purchase fine wines and buying by
the case (wine consumption in the UK has consistently been on the increase
over the past five years*) this product is just the next step in kitchen
