Chic
Alize from Schmidt
Schmidt
Alize doors feature a handle-free façade
with full width finger recesses in either black, aluminium, pear or white.
The effect is clean and stark accentuating the horizontal geometry that
allows designers to draw worktops, splashbacks, mid-height units and other
features into the whole composition.
The
Alize Brilliant White is the high gloss door while Schmidt also makes
the Alize design available in a Matt White laminate finish or a subtle
Pear laminate.
The clean lines of Alize encourage the use of extra wide base unit drawers
which are made possible by Schmidt's use of high capacity, full extension
Blum Tandem runners with integrated BLUMOTION soft close. This enables
enhanced storage use so that work surfaces are kept clean and uncluttered
showing the design off to its contemporary best.
The company says that minimalism is a particular design concept that Alize
gives scope for, as is open plan living with a free flow between cooking
and dining areas - suitable for peninsular or island units, breakfast
bars etc.
As with all Schmidt designs, there is a full matrix of door sizes and
the slim recesses combine with plinths, pelmets or end frames to enhance
the aesthetic flow that this design is capable of creating.
With over 450 top distributors in Europe, Schmidt kitchens are now available
from a growing network of expert kitchen distributors across the UK.
Alize starts at £227 for a 600mm base unit.

Versatile
Angel Oak from PWS
Natural
materials bring beauty to furniture design, and the new Angel Oak door
range from PWS is no exception. The
warm mellow tone creates a canvas on which to create a stylish kitchen.
And whether within the context of a contemporary setting or a more traditional
feel, the timeless appeal and versatility of oak shines through.
Each
piece of Angel Oak is carefully selected to show the full variation in
grain pattern that is characteristic of natural oak. Taking its cue from
the increasing popularity of simply styled doors combined with the demand
for a real timber, many different and individual looks can be achieved.
Angel Oak is a door that offers real freedom for design.
The stepped design is adaptable, teaming well with a host of different
materials and finishes. Angel Oak is well-suited to modern schemes, with
the clean lines and introduction of chic glazed doors offering a sense
of space. Alternatively the range fits neatly as a country inspired kitchen,
especially when complemented with tongue & groove panelling, sleek
granite worktops and pewter handles.
A comprehensive range of accessories including natural glazed feature
doors, plate and bottle racks, and spice drawers enhance the styling possibilities
for this range. The Angel design is also available in birch, a light natural
finish.

A
Perfect Foil
Design
chief Julian Tatham at Decorative Panels
is expanding the paper foil lamination specialists portfolio of
styles, he reports. I am keen to fill out what I perceive to be
gaps in our range and also to complement existing foils that are becoming
more popular with new styles and colours that market research tells us
are among the rising stars in today's fashion charts!
Initially,
he's assembled a collection of five new styles that sit well together
in tone terms and which also provide some useful matches for currently
popular PVC membrane pressing foils. The warmth and elegance of
the three natural woodgrains of the collection confirms the marked superiority
of printing onto papers, rather than to plastic materials, in terms of
definition, colour and realism and the prints are well complemented by
the tonal strength of the unicolours. says Julian.
Two of the new releases are woodgrain variations on a walnut theme, one
a warm and mellow toned pattern called Aida and the other a lighter, flowing
grain entitled Stilo. The former co-ordinates with an existing membrane
pressing PVC from Hornschurch, Noce Senesi 422 4119, and the latter with
a PVC foil from LG, Ref. MR202-89B. Cherry Morgana, the third woodgrain
of the collection, is a warm and natural cherry match for Portofino 424
5302 from Hornschurch.
The first of the new single colours is Decorative Panels' creamy new Vanilla
which, Julian Tatham believes, brings out the warm browns and natural
tones of the woodgrains and is a match for Cova Vanilla Cream from Hornschurch
428-0010. Champagne is also a brown toned single colour that complements
each of the woodgrains and adds an additional touch of metallic glamour.
I think these new designs are absolute naturals for the home,
he says, bringing, as they do, the warmth, elegance and colour of
'real' woodgrains to the domestic environment. They will look great in
kitchens, dining rooms and bedrooms - and in bathrooms too - and will
bring new richness to leisure spaces, wherever they occur.

Size
Matters to Burbidge
To
provide customers with greater design flexibility and a point of difference
in an increasingly competitive market, Burbidge
is extending the number of door sizes available with all of its wood and
foil wrap kitchen designs. New equipment recently installed at Burbidge's
manufacturing plant means that the company can now offer special size
doors at a marginal premium and with only a three week lead time.
Ben Burbidge, managing director, comments: We recognise that in
today's demanding market, it is important that our customers are able
to be as creative and versatile in their designs as possible. They need
to be able to overcome any design difficulties easily by employing clever
design solutions to create truly individual and inspirational kitchens.
While we offer a significant choice of standard doors sizes with all our
ranges, occasionally non-standard size doors are required by our customers
to disguise tricky areas in the kitchen or simply to give designs a unique
touch. By investing in new technology we can now produce such non-standard
size doors quickly and at a much lower cost.
The company's new trade price list includes Special Size Availability
Tables for each range, which shows the exact minimum and maximum sizes
now available. Special sized doors are only available as part of a larger
standard order.
Ben Burbidge continues: We are always looking at ways to improve
our service to customers and hope that this new capability to provide
special size doors will help give our customers additional competitive
edge against the expanding mass market.
Burbidge is a kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer. For further
information on the company's range of wood, painted, foil wrap and metal
frontals and accessories, please visit http://www.burbidge.co.uk
or call 024 7667 1600. Burbidge's products can also be viewed in realistic
room sets in the company's showroom at its Coventry manufacturing facility.
The showroom is open five days a week between 9am and 5pm.
ALNOART
- A Minimalist Masterpiece
The
handleless ALNOART range presents
three finishes - high gloss, veneered and elegantly grained.
ALNOART PRO is a handleless kitchen with profiled aluminium frames in
a contrasting combination of fronts. The company says that with the handle-less
aluminium framed glass fronts, the new lifestyle programme ALNOART PRO
displays an exceptional level of performance. It is available in high
gloss white and high gloss vanilla.
ALNOART PRIME uses real wood veneer encased in matt anodised aluminium.
ALNO demonstrates the art of combining elegance and functionality. The
kitchen is available in the front variants black-brown oak (Fineline veneer)
and natural cherry.
The ALNOART WOODLINE programme bears an elegant grain on aluminium-encased
wood veneer. It continues over all the fronts, opening up continuous design
choices. The kitchens are available in three grains: palisander, zebrano
and beech heart. Because Woodline is made using ALNO's trademarked
Pictureline technology, consumers and designers are guaranteed precisely
the finish they desire. says the company.
Poggenpohl
Extends PLUSMODO Range with new Aqua Blue Satin Lacquer
Kitchen
manufacturer, Poggenpohl, has introduced
a new satin lacquer to its latest innovation, PLUSMODO.
Aqua Blue, the most recent addition to the range, works in harmony with
a selection of fronts in Mineral White, Titanium Grey and Elm Veneer or
can be applied independently to create a simple yet sophisticated design.
PLUSMODO, launched at the IMM Cuisinale furniture show in Cologne, Germany
at the beginning of the year, was developed in conjunction with the Argentinean
furniture designer, Jorge Pensi. A combination of open and closed functional
areas reflects Pensi's desire to create a 'poetic dialogue between display
and concealment'.
Wall units with sliding doors utilise internal honeycomb construction aluminium,
meaning that they require minimal fixings and can be manufactured to be
ultra-slim and still offer absolute rigidity. The honeycomb construction
is also a feature of the extra deep work surfaces, allowing them to be self-supporting
but extremely lightweight - crucial for cantilever style arrangements.
The sliding doors, chunky worktops, open ended units, glass display inserts,
and pull out trays combine with lacquers, wood and metal to offer huge scope
for custom design.
Poggenpohl kitchens retail from £20,000.

Crisp
Designs from Keller by Grovewood
Blending
minimalism with chic, the Arcade from Keller
by Grovewood is distinguished by functionality and clean lines, allowing
housebuilders to incorporate contemporary European styling without supply
chain hassles and with the full backup of experienced on-site support.
The
solid aluminium handles are totally integrated so that each is in exact
proportion to the width of the individual door or drawer that it serves.
Embracing plain surfaces and slick straight lines, the use of both normal
and gloss laminates allows the designer to achieve an interplay of colour
and textures.
A palette of eight gloss laminate colours is available including black,
red, ice blue, lilac and mint green. Complementing these are 12 standard
laminate colours and a matching range of carcasses that may be combined
with plinths in an aluminium or stainless steel look. All doors and carcasses
are 18mm thick and drawers feature the Blumotion smooth, self-closing,
anti-slam drawer movement system.
Arcade is available in 940 standard unit types backed by the option of
'specials' and computerised production of cabinetry for appliances. Variations
in depth and width of unit can be accommodated while base carcasses are
offered in an optional maxi height which is 10% taller than the normal
cabinets to ensure full optimisation of ergonomic and space considerations
and the realisation of highly individual concepts.Keller produces according
to the just-in-time principle, which means that each kitchen is made to
order - drastically reducing the possibility of missing items and delays.
Joni Thrush, head of marketing for Grovewood, comments: Keller offers
the housebuilder an array of choices by way of style - from ultra contemporary
to traditional farmhouse feel. The key to our success is that we offer
a contract management service which many of Keller's European counterparts
cannot compete with.
