Burbidge Introduces a Black Beauty to its Lansdowne Range

Burbidge has extended its best-selling Lansdowne range with a new Black Walnut collection of kitchen frontals and accessories. Made from a dark American Black Walnut, the frontals are dramatic not only in colour, but also as a result of the tone variations and prominent graining of this exclusive wood.

Ben Burbidge, managing director, commented: ‘Dark woods such as walnut are making a comeback in the occasional furniture market and we believe this trend is one that will also be adopted by pioneering kitchen consumers. Lansdowne Black Walnut is for people that want to make a dramatic style statement in their home; those who enjoy setting new trends. This is a kitchen designed for homeowners who see their kitchen as more than simply a functional room; it's also a room in which to entertain and impress. With this in mind, we've also introduced some bold new accessories to complement the range.’

As with the existing Lansdowne Natural Oak and Natural Maple ranges, the new Black Walnut range features extra wide framed door and drawer frontals and a clear glass framed door, as well as distinctive curved drawer fronts, which are available with a special fillet piece to enable easy fitting onto standard carcases.

Introduced to the range for the first time, however, is a contemporary curved door and plinth that can be used to add impact at the end of a run of units, in an island unit combination, as a cupboard on a wall or as a corner cabinet. The recently launched Lansdowne lattice feature door has also been given a style twist with the Black Walnut collection in that it can be a walnut finish with a maple lattice strip or vice versa; a maple door with a walnut strip.

Ben Burbidge continued: ‘This new range looks equally good on its own, in pure Black Walnut, or mixed with our Lansdowne Natural Maple frontals and accessories. As with all our Lansdowne ranges, we have a broad range of frontals in varying sizes as well as a wide choice of accessories so that customers can mix and match if required.’

Further accessories available with the Lansdowne Black Walnut range include 50mm thick veneered floating shelves, 28mm end panels, cornice and light pelmets, plinths, a rounded extractor canopy and chunky square pilasters. A pre-oiled solid oak curved worktop is available for use with the curved frontals and to finish, there are a choice of stainless steel handles. As with all Burbidge ranges, one-off non-standard doors can also be produced in Lansdowne Black Walnut within a short lead time, if required.

Burbidge is a UK kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer. LiteCore Board with Heavy Advantages - from Decorative Panels

Responding to the current vogue for chunkier furniture and panel based interior décor fixtures in a range of domestic cabinet applications, Decorative Panels is marketing a new range of thicker but lighter weight board options under the LiteCore banner.

LiteCore is a lower density - and hence significantly lighter weight - particle board that comes as standard at a core thickness of 34mm, but which is also available up to 50mm, and a sheet size of 2550 x 2050mm. The full programme of Decorative Panels' printed decorative paper foils is available in conjunction with LiteCore which can be cut, drilled, routered, grooved and edged, all in exactly the same ways as standard chipboard product.

Produced to Decorative Panels' specifications from totally natural materials, LiteCore is fully recyclable and can be processed at all levels and in the same ways as traditional particle boards - it is manufactured by exactly the same process. A low material density of around 450kg/m3 gives LiteCore the advantage of light weight and the favourable density to thickness ratio confers many other practical advantages for interior decor applications.

The flame retardant properties of LiteCore board compares very favourably with traditional chipboard and the material is also extremely stable. LiteCore is an insulator, containing both sound and heat. These qualities combined with significantly lower cost make LiteCore an attractive and versatile decorative board material for use in the manufacture of furniture, both fitted and free standing, and also for interior panelling, lining or space division applications.

LiteCore board is available from Decorative Panels finished in the full programme of printed paper foils from the company, including the latest UltraFoil materials which have been approved to British Standards 6222 and FIRA Standard 6250 for 'severe' usage, including horizontal surfaces. So LiteCore board finished in the growing spectrum of Ultrafoil materials is not confined to 'soft' decor options - LiteCore meets all of the challenges presented by domestic and contract interior pressures.

For the launch of LiteCore, Decorative panels has bound sample pieces of the board in an informative, book-style cover which documents the characteristics and application features of the material. It also underscores the symbiotic relationship of paper with this highly versatile, lightweight new board material and emphasises its versatility from a decorative perspective.

SC61 Sterling Grey Matt from SieMatic

SieMatic has added a new colour to its successful SC61 kitchen range. Sterling grey has a soft, deceptively warm tone that is modern but subtle. Of smooth matt lacquer finish, this colour is especially suited for maximising the contrasts with other colours in the kitchen.

The SC61 doors gently close onto the SieMatic dust seal barriers that surround every carcase edge and protect the interior from any dust particles as well as eliminating the sound of the door shutting. To add additional interest and further enhance the spacious feel of the kitchen, tinted obsidian glass panel doors blend in harmoniously with the dark wall units.

In the kitchen shown, a classic walnut wood peninsula and background are combined with dark flooring and enhanced by integral lighting that creates a diffused light effect for added flair. The trend for open plan living is embraced with the inclusion of 8cm thick walnut shelves that can be used for both display and practical purposes, for example, housing 'status accessories' like a Philippe Starck juicer or Alessi items, whose beautiful aesthetics would be lost behind closed doors.

SC61 is available in four SieMatic colours, or in any of the 1950 colours found in the Natural Colour System, ensuring exclusivity and complete interior design flexibility.

J&J Ormerod PLC Unveils its New Ferrara Oak Finish

J&J Ormerod PLC, the independent UK manufacturer of quality kitchens and bedrooms, has announced the launch of its Cologne and Décor Colonial kitchens in the new Ferrara Oak finish. Pioneering a new era in timber 'effect' surfaces, the Ferrara Oak surface combines a coffee and latte palette to provide a warm, straight-grained timber look. This introduction follows on from the successful launch of the Walnut finish earlier this year.

‘The trend for wide, clean units in natural tones is exemplified in the beautiful oak effect of this latest addition to the J&J Ormerod range.’ Says the company. The doors are available in two styles, Décor and Cologne. The colour was designed to meet the changing market trend toward browns and beiges and moves away from the 'green/yellow' tones of traditional oaks. ‘The Ferrara Oak finish ensures a natural oak look and will enhance and beautify any number of design combinations.’

J&J Ormerod says that it has lead the way with its comprehensive range of finishes for its Colonial kitchens. Its polyester gloss laminate range has enjoyed enormous success, and would complement the new Ferrara Oak in a 'mix-and-match' kitchen.
Inspired by Italian furniture exhibitions and now popular in UK design trends, mixing two or more door finishes such as a gloss laminate with a wood grain adds a modern, contemporary edge to even the most simple kitchen design. The Ferrara Oak would match the coffee and latte gloss kitchens. In addition to J&J Ormerod's extensive family of doors, the Ferrara Oak can be successfully combined with a multitude of inset colourways, from gloss cream through to the red, slate grey and ebony palettes of current trends.

The Ferrara Oak Colonial kitchens are available in a variety of colours and units including a range of base units, larders, drawer packs and accessories. Prices are in the region of £119 for a 700cm Cologne base unit in Ferrara Oak and £131 for a similar sized Décor unit. Over 100 different handles are offered to match with every interior style and taste. From matte chrome to antique brass and colour coded styles, J&J Ormerod has the handle for every new kitchen. A wide selection of optional extras including shelf lights and halogen downlights offer a combination of colour, light and finish to choose from.

Pfleiderer's new Duropal UK Worktop Range

Pfleiderer Industrie has launched a new Duropal worktop collection. This is specific to the UK and is in line with trends to give designers and users effects that will complement kitchens from mainstream manufacturers. Twenty decors will no longer be available. These are mainly the less graphic effects, leaving the bolder natural choices and metallic finishes in the range.

Twenty new decors including bamboos, Welsh slate, granite, marble and sands demonstrate the popularity of natural effects in pleasing tones. Forty are in Duropal's classic post formed profile with the remaining twenty-one in Duropal's Quadra profile. Quadra is post formed top and bottom to a very tight radius. This, seen with metallic, wood, granite and composite reproductions offers a convincing alternative to these materials at a fraction ofthe price.

Duropal's new enhanced performance high gloss finish on selected Classic profiles give a practical benefit to modern style. Wood reproductions in feel as well as look, granite and composition designs, stone and earth inspired decors make a popular range that works well with today's kitchens.

Duropal worktops can be finished with an edge band, available to match many of the popular decors. This gives designers freedom to incorporate curves of almost any radii.

The new brochure and free laminate sample service is available by telephoning Pfleiderer Industrie on 01625 660410 or mailto:info@pfleiderer.co.uk

PWS Edges Ahead with new Granite and Composite Worktops

PWS has unveiled its latest innovations in granite and composite stone worksurface technology. As worktops offer almost limitless options to create interesting focal points in the kitchen, PWS has responded with a range of chunky edged granite and composite stone options.

The entire granite and marble range of 41 finishes is now available in 60mm, 80mm and 100mm thickness, bringing the collection up to date with continental worksurface trends. The beauty of the extra-thick granite is that it combines good looks with practicality as it does not have the inherent weight generally associated with thick worktops. To ensure the range is practical to handle and install, the surface is made up of granite laminated onto a marble core, giving the illusion of solid granite without the extra weight. A selection of three edge profiles is available including a raised edge with a waterfall lip and a square chamfer.

Composite stone is offered across the full colour range, in 40mm, 60mm, 80mm and 100mm thicknesses with a square chamfered profile. The chunky composite stone is constructed using a backing called Eulithe, an expanded polyurethane rigid panel high in structural strength. The combination of composite stone and Eulithe creates a competitively priced product with the benefits of being light, strong, stable and easy to work with, while still providing the appeal of supported stone.

Comments Philip Eeles, PWS' Worksurface Business Manager, 'We are always on the look out for innovative products and are very excited about the chunky granite and composite stone ranges. They offer a new design direction for our customers, and are perfectly on cue for the growing interest in using solid worksurfaces to create a sense of individuality in the kitchen. The development of the lightweight solid worksurface will open up many design opportunities which previously would have been avoided due to the difficulties a heavy-weight worktop would bring to the installation process.'

Classic Cream for PWS’ New Broadoak Range

PWS has extended its range with Broadoak Ivory. Based on the popular Broadoak design, this shaker style lends itself to a delicate cream painted finish, which not only accentuates the fine grain of the oak timber but sets off other materials and colours.

‘The ivory colouring adds considerable appeal to this simply styled door, which is in its element in a classically styled interior.’ Says the company. ‘Exuding a light and airy feel, Broadoak Ivory adapts well to any size of kitchen and offers many door and drawer combinations to create impressive dressers or island units.’

Broadoak Ivory not only answers the growing demand for painted timber doors, but takes away all the hard work of hand-painting whilst achieving the same effect. For further individuality Broaodoak Ivory can be teamed with doors and accessories from PWS’ Broaodoak Lignt, Golden or Sanded ranges to create a bespoke look.

As part of the Broadoak family a comprehensive selection of accessories enhance this range, including Flemish glazed doors, radius feature ends, plate and bottle racks, quadrants and pilasters. Alongside the Broadoak Light and Golden ranges, Broadoak Ivory has achieved FIRA Gold status.

New Sink Models from RAK

RAK Ceramics has extended its popular 'Gourmet' sink range with three new models. The new Gourmet 8, Gourmet 9 and Gourmet 10 are styled around the traditional Belfast sink and feature distinctive sizes and formats to help meet the individual design requirements of different kitchens. Made from RAK Ceramics' high quality lightweight Fireclay, the Gourmet range combines the emotional appeal of traditional glazed ceramic with the practical qualities of a modern hardwearing stain resistant finish.

The new Gourmet 8 sink (pictured below) is a faithful reproduction of the classic Belfast sink featuring a distinctive integral weir overflow and generous 250mm height. The model's 595mm width makes it suitable for premium kitchens requiring traditional looks and day-to-day usability.

The Gourmet 9 is large and elegant. This no-nonsense classic does away with the clutter of an overflow fitting to provide minimalist looks and unbroken clean lines. Offering modern opulence while keeping in harmony with the original iconic design, the Gourmet 9 is 755mm wide - big enough to immerse almost any oven tray.

RAK Ceramics' new Gourmet 10 (above right) adds a twist to the traditional Belfast sink. Raising practicality while also alluding to the sink's classic origins, the model features two perfectly matched bowls within the 800mm wide unit. This key feature addresses a common problem for users, who typically love the looks and practicality of the classic Belfast but find limitations for everyday domestic tasks with a single bowl. Either 90mm diameter waste outlets could be fitted with a waste disposal unit if desired.

Finished in RAK Ceramics' premium quality high white glaze, the entire Gourmet range represents a stylish and practical option for kitchen designers.

They also match for RAK Ceramics' range of solid surface porcelain worktops. Finished in chrome plated and brushed chrome, high quality solid brass strainer wastes with matching overflows are also available. Details of the full range are available at http://www.rakceramics.co.uk.

J&J Ormerod PLC Launches its New Solid Oak Kitchen Range

J&J Ormerod PLC, the independent UK manufacturer of quality kitchens and bedrooms, has introduced Winchester Oak, its new solid oak kitchen range.

Three door styles are available in the Winchester Oak including Harvard, Décor and the popular Shaker style. The ‘shaker’ style kitchen has experienced a strong sales revival in Winchester Oak, and J&J Ormerod says that its distinctive touch has created a style that is rapidly becoming its top-selling kitchen door. The development of a ‘distressed look’ Shaker finish drives forward the success of the door.

The Winchester Oak kitchen incorporates Blum’s storage solutions for optimal use of kitchen storage space. Features include hidden drawers and bi-fold walls with bridging units in order to render ‘dead space’ in the kitchen redundant. The lighter tones of oak will harmonize with the gloss finish of a granite-look worksurface such as Black Granite Gloss or Nuevo Granite Roja Gloss (shown), both available from J&J Ormerod.

The straight edges have been transformed into soft rolled edges and sculptured corners which add a well-worn, used look and a scattering of Pippy Oak knots and character grain add warmth and homeliness to the style.

The Winchester Oak is available in a wide range of units including wall and base units, drawer packs, larders and accessories. Prices start from £445 for a 1200cm drawer unit and £520 for a wall unit. Wall units are offered with an optional glass front or open shelving in a selection of sizes. A comprehensive range of optional extras are also available to complement the solid oak timber, including shelf lights and halogen downlights. In addition, J&J Ormerod offers over 100 different handles. Recommended are the Hammered Pewter Bow Handles for cupboards and wide drawers, and Hammered Pewter Knobs on slim line drawers to complement both the style and colour of the Winchester Oak.
