Burbidge Expands the Lansdowne Painted Oak Palette

Since its launch at the end of last year, Burbidge's Lansdowne Painted Oak range has proved to be an outstanding success story for the company. As a direct result of the popularity of the painted oak designs, Burbidge has added two new heritage colourways to its award-winning Lansdowne range; a gentle yellow called Lansdowne Maize and Lansdowne Cornflower, a sophisticated blue finish.

As with the existing Lansdowne Painted options, these two new kitchen frontal and accessory collections combine the beauty of wood with contemporary colour. The hand-sprayed, low-sheen paint finish allows the delicate grain patterning characteristic of oak to be subtly revealed, thereby giving each kitchen a natural and intrinsically original look.

Ben Burbidge, managing director of Burbidge comments: 'Given the success of the Lansdowne Painted Oak range since its launch, it seemed a natural step to extend the colour palette available to consumers. We've concentrated on developing new 'modern neutrals' because they best complement the distinctive design of the Lansdowne kitchen, and offer modern, yet long-lasting, appeal.'

Also available in Natural Oak, Natural Maple, Black Walnut, and additional painted options - Sage and Ivory, the shaker-inspired Lansdowne range has a wealth of design features and accessories. Curved doors and drawer fronts, lattice inset feature doors, inlaid marquetry feature doors as well as clear glass panelled doors can be combined with accessories from any of the ranges - whether matching or complementary - such as curved extractor canopies, square pilasters, shelving, framed end panels and curved plinths. Kitchen retailers and manufacturers can also take advantage of Burbidge's ability to manufacturer special size door and drawer fronts on request and to hand-spray any Lansdowne painted design to order.

Ben Burbidge says: 'We want to ensure our manufacturer and retailer customers have as much choice and design flexibility as possible. Lansdowne is an extensive range and offers endless design possibilities. Being able to spray products to order and create special size frontals means our customers can let loose their creativity, safe in the knowledge that their concept can be realised.'

Burbidge is a long established, UK kitchen frontals and accessories manufacturer. The company's products can be viewed in realistic rooms sets in its showroom in Coventry. Please call 024 7667 1600 for further information.

Mix in some Steel Appeal from PWS

Few can disagree that stainless steel is now a modern day staple of the kitchen that continues to feature strongly in kitchen design and PWS has responded with a new range of stainless steel blanks.

Suited to the trend for material mix, the stainless steel blanks are manufactured from Grade 430 S17 stainless steel and polished to 180/240 grit finish. Available in 1m, 1.5m and 2m lengths, 620mm wide and 40mm thick the steel blanks offer flexible options to combine with other materials, finishes and colours to create a custom-designed look.

Offering a hardwearing, virtually seamless, non-absorbent and easy maintenance finish, the blanks bring all the advantages of stainless steel worksurfacing, well known in the commercial and contract catering sectors, to domestic kitchen installations. As well as their functional appeal the blanks are stylish, and tactile, and will create a focal point in the worksurface scheme.

Including only a zoned area of stainless steel in the worksurface design takes the hard edge out of the industrial look often associated with steel. And with the popularity of stainless steel still climbing, it's set to stay as the preferred metal in the kitchen, so this new range is expected to rank highly in the designer's product selection.

Comments Philip Eeles, PWS' Worksurface Business Manager, 'Although stainless steel is still seen as niche worksurface product, this is changing with the emphasis being placed on using stainless steel in zoned areas of the kitchen, which reduces the expense while still giving the aesthetic appeal. Consumers want all the advantages of a stainless steel 'professional' worksurface solution in domestic kitchen installations. The beauty of the stainless steel blank is that it creates an instant workstation, suitable for most modern kitchen settings.

New Natural Selection for PWS' Broadoak Range

PWS has added a new natural option to its Broadoak range. Broadoak Natural unites the successful simple design with the warmth of natural oak for a look that the company says will be beautiful for years to come.

The timber for Broadoak Natural has been carefully selected to retain the authentic character that oak is renowned for, making it a good choice for those wishing to create a welcoming feel to the kitchen.

A Fresh Take on a Traditional Gothic Arch

From mirrors to fireplaces, windows to doors, the influence and popularity of the gothic arch in interior design stretches far and wide, and nowhere more so than in the kitchen where it has been a perennial favourite.

This year the Gallery collection, from kitchen expert Symphony, has taken a fresh approach and restyled the gothic arch to create a contemporary solid oak range, Montana.

Designed for those who want a traditional and homely feel in their kitchen whilst retaining a modern edge, Montana, with its pared down gothic style arch door in blonde oak, is already a popular choice with retailers and consumers.

Gary Turnbull, Retail Marketing Manager, explained; 'Montana is already a fantastic success and has become one of the top ten sellers this year. It is proving to be a strong player and has contributed to making blonde oak our best selling colour of 2006. The range is testimony to the enduring popularity of the traditional gothic arch. It has been welcomed by customers looking for a versatile kitchen that suits their period property and it seems that the familiar curved arch has a nostalgic appeal that transcends generations.

'There will always be a market for familiar designs and classic materials in the kitchen but what we are trying to do this season is offer a fresh approach and some contemporary styling. Our retailers have been very receptive to the Montana range and are now showing customers how to modernise and add interest to the range by teaming state-of-the-art appliances and gadgets, with sleek, funky finishes such as gloss and clear glass. It definitely looks as though the gothic arch will remain a staple feature in the kitchen, no matter what the guise!'

Astracast Unveils its Latest Design in Stainless Steel Undermount Sinks

Astracast has announced some additions to its already comprehensive undermount range of stainless steel sinks.

All the stainless steel undermount sinks are supplied with a thermo-clad backing. This has some key benefits; heat retention ensures that water stays warmer for longer, sound deadening ensures the sink is much quieter during use and the cladding reduces condensation on the underneath of the bowls.

The Opal and Echo range of sinks are particularly user friendly and come in a variety of bowl shapes and sizes.

Opal S3
The Opal range comprises eleven models designed to add flexibility and individuality, typified by the S3 one and a half bowl model, shown here. Finished in polished stainless steel and available in left and right hand options, the Opal S3 is distinctive by it's curved corners that are good for easy cleaning and each sink comes complete with overflow, waste and pipes. The Opal range start from as little as £149 including VAT.

Echo
Astracast says that the Echo S1 and S2 have the deepest bowl available in the UK for a standard single sink. There are five variants in the Echo collection; and each comes with a grid to protect the high-grade brushed stainless steel.

The S2 model has a bowl width of 507mm, whilst the bowl and a half D1 is available left or right handed. Despite its capaciousness, Echo D1 can still be fitted onto a 600mm base unit making it practical and stylish for virtually any kitchen. The most sizeable of the Echo range is the D2, with two deep main bowls, ideal for large families or those who enjoy entertaining. Retail prices for Echo start from £249 including VAT.

Both the Echo and Opal undermount sinks are manufactured from premium gauge stainless steel, ensuring they are of a higher quality, thus lasting longer than most other comparable sinks.

Other models in the undermount range include Onyx, Esatto, Julien, Lincoln, and Vero. These sinks come in a variety of rectangular and round bowls with matching drainers, and a range of accessories. Cutting templates and fitting clips are supplied with each sinks. Electronic templates are available upon request and can be downloaded from the website.

Balanced and harmonious, the calming cream finish and clean design combine to give this kitchen a light and airy space, the key to easy-living elegance.

Comments Andrew Langford, Marketing Manager at PWS, 'Ivory kitchens are in high demand and are among the top choices for both contemporary and classic interiors.

This colour preference is predicted to increase on the contemporary design front as ivory is extremely adaptable and regarded as the perfect backdrop for other materials and colours, for either a co-ordinated or contrasting scheme. Walnut Whip from PWS

PWS says that walnut is whipping up the trend stakes and is the must-have timber for the kitchen. PWS has responded by adding a fifth walnut range to its door collection, introducing Estro Walnut, a simple design which embraces the rich hues of walnut with extra design features.

Estro is clean and crisp but the look is far from clinical thanks to the warm and welcoming walnut tones. And for those who prefer sweeping curves and an altogether softer feel, nature and shape unite with a range of contoured elements to add a more intimate feel to the design.

A wide selection of curved doors, radiused ends, cornice, pelmet and plinth together with a raft of accessories offer the designer untold options to create interesting and individual features. Estro Walnut is tuned to the trend for the 'living kitchen' lending itself to both fitted and free-standing pieces in an open-plan scheme.

Comments Stuart Clarkson, PWS' Design Manager, 'Three years ago I predicted that walnut would become hot in kitchen design and initially I was met with some degree of uncertainty as many thought darker timbers had had their day. Fast forward to 2006 and the reality is that following its success on the continent walnut is now gathering significant pace in the UK as a preferred timber in both modern and classic kitchen schemes.

The real beauty of walnut is its inherent beauty to complement and contrast with so many other materials. And it isn't just door fascias where walnut steals the show, walnut timber worktops are also selected for an increasing number of installations. It's down to the fact that darker timbers offer something a little more exotic than many other species and can effortlessly create that individual look that is so in demand.’

Estro Walnut brings the PWS walnut furniture collection to five, joining American Walnut, Eterno Walnut, Scope Walnut and Tavari Walnut offering an inspiring mix of modern and traditional styling, in slab, shaker and stepped designs to appeal to most tastes.

View the Estro Walnut range at http://www.pws.co.uk with a link to order on PWS' e-commerce solution Tradezone', or alternatively telephone PWS Customer Services on 01325 505555.
