Bristan, the supplier of bathroom taps, showers and accessories is bringing a whole new shower experience to retailers using a bespoke display vehicle.

LDV main dealer, Ford and Slater Leicester has supplied a Convoy 3.5 tonne XLWB chassis cab, which has been specially designed by IDA Creative Link and converted into a Luton by Universal Vehicle Bodies to include Bristan’s exclusive shower range.

The vehicle, liveried with Bristan’s current advertising campaign, comes equipped with four fully working showers, co-ordinated taps and accessories on display, which is made possible by an under floor recyclable water storage system and 180-amp battery.

Judith Gibbons, marketing manager at Bristan is delighted with the vehicle. She said: ‘This is the first time Bristan has brought working showers to retailers instead of them coming to us, and what better way to launch our new shower range than to demonstrate them in full working order on their doorstep.’

'Face' of Aqualux Qualifies for Fourth Olympic Games

Aqualux, the shower enclosure company, has announced that Karen Pickering MBE, the official 'face' for the company, has successfully qualified for the GB Olympic swimming squad that will be competing in Athens this summer.

Aqualux teamed up with Karen, Britain's most decorated female swimmer, in an advertising and sponsorship deal for 2004. As part of the agreement, Karen Pickering MBE became 'the face' of Aqualux for its promotions and advertising during the year and in the run up to the 2004 Olympic Games.

The squad of 36 swimmers was announced by the British Olympic Association following a five-day British Swimming Olympic Trials at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Karen is one of the most experienced swimmers, having competed in three previous Olympics. She has been swimming at world-class level since 1986 and was awarded an MBE in the 1994 New Years Honours List for her services to swimming. Her collection of winning medals includes eight World Championship, 14 European Championship, 35 National Championship and a Commonwealth Games medal haul of 13, including four Gold.

Sandra Hyde, marketing manager for Aqualux, comments: ‘Karen has been a great ambassador for Aqualux to date and we are extremely pleased that she will be flying the flag for Great Britain again at her fourth Olympic Games.

‘When we were looking for the 'face' of Aqualux we decided that rather than go for an anonymous model we would work with someone wholly associated with water and who represents the type of discerning consumer that is typically an Aqualux customer. Consumers now have a better choice of bathroom fittings and fixtures than ever before. They want to attain both a certain look and feel when refurbishing their bathroom and we have conveyed this by using Karen throughout our new brochure and advertising campaign.

‘Karen Pickering was the perfect choice and reflects so many of the qualities associated with our products, including strength, performance, style and British quality! We wish her the best of luck for Athens.’

The campaign featuring Karen and the new range was introduced in January 2004. Karen attended Interbuild 2004 at the NEC on Wednesday 28th April to promote the company's Energy collection of contemporary shower enclosures on show in the Architect's Pavilion.

Maytag Undertakes Major UK Push Through ARC

Maytag UK is embarking on a major brand building exercise, working with the creative agency ARC, part of the Publicis Groupe.

The investment will see Maytag UK roll out an integrated marketing campaign in order to penetrate the UK market and boost its share of the sector.

Extensive consumer research will be carried out as part of this initiative to accurately identify the consumer’s purchasing process, and gauge the messages that speak to them during this process. ARC’s involvement in the entire project, from initial research through to the creation and testing of new creative work, will ensure that the campaign will be speaking to the right consumer, in the right way, at the right time. The investment is intended to increase brand awareness amongst the targeted consumers, leading to increased sales of Maytag products.
The new look is scheduled to take to the stage this summer with a strong campaign scheduled to run throughout the second half of the year.

Maytag also aims to raise awareness of its brands (Amana, Maytag and Admiral) through a number of creative initiatives and campaigns, with comprehensive and eye catching point of sale material designed to increase consumer footfall within retailers stores.

Mike Spicer, Managing Director of ARC, says, ‘Maytag will be a client for whom we can deliver insightful and creative work and make a significant impact on the UK business.’

Holly Burrow, Senior Manager, Marketing, says, ‘Maytag has a huge presence in the US market and is making great headway in the UK. By working with ARC and making this investment we are confident that their skills and expertise will help us further increase our brand awareness and make Maytag a household name with the discerning consumer. With so many brands for the consumer to choose from, and with consumers becoming ever more demanding when selecting appliances, we need to be constantly investing in building the Maytag brand and getting into the mind of the consumer.’
