Phil Anderson Joins PJH as Group Commercial Director

Phil Anderson has joined the PJH Group, the Bolton-based bathroom, kitchen and appliance specialist, as group commercial director.

Phil (45) complements the board through his extensive sales, marketing and trading expertise. This includes UK and European FMCG experience with market leader, Gillette and his strong retail experience with both Thorntons - where he headed up the UK commercial trading and marketing function - and Littlewoods, where, as group marketing director he played a key role in delivering an improved trading performance. Phil’s strong brand and own-brand marketing and retail skills will specifically add a new ingredient to the executive management team at the PJH Group.

As new commercial director, Phil’s overall goals will be to drive PJH Group sales and profits through the company’s trading divisions, Hopkinsons Fourways - the national kitchen and bathroom distribution specialist, and In-Store - the specialist bathroom retail category management and supply chain logistics division.

Phil commented: ‘I was attracted to join the PJH Group due to its strong expertise in global sourcing and supply chain management, the quality of its management and its strong business trading partnerships. This has enabled the business to deliver significant profitable growth – with the sales rising from £100m in 2000, to £151m in 2004. These are very exciting times as PJH seeks to profitably grow its business through several key new initiatives, including the development of an even stronger customer focus and level of service.’

Previous commercial director, Andrew Yates, who now takes up the role of chief executive, said: ‘The new Board of Directors will continue to grow the business, looking to increase sales to £190m over the next three years. Although consumer spending has recently softened, the long term view is that it will increase in the kitchen and bathroom market and we are well positioned to satisfy this demand.’
