Imperial Bathrooms Unveils New Wall & Floor Tiles Collection

To complement its handcrafted collection of modern classic bathroom products and extend its existing range of wall tiles, Imperial Bathrooms has unveiled an exclusive range of wall and floor tiles. With all the aesthetic charm and appeal of real stone, ‘The Naturals Collection’ provides all the technical benefits of through body porcelain. To help fire customers’ imaginations, an eye-catching tile display board is now available free of charge to retailers.

Available in three colours – chalk, sand and charcoal – The Naturals Collection bears the illusion of natural stone courtesy of modern manufacturing processes and a tumbling procedure that gives each tile a unique handmade authentic appearance. The illusion of real marble is then achieved by applying a surface patina to each tile to give them an authentic soft, sugary look.

Unlike marble, however, The Naturals Collection features outstanding technical qualities. As well as being resistant to abrasion and corrosion, these through body coloured tiles require no sealing and are virtually non-porous which helps prevent staining and colour discolouration in years to come. An R9 anti-slip resistance rating applies.

Commenting on the launch of The Naturals Collection, Managing Director Antonio Garrido said: 'This is our first foray into the floor tiles market and we feel confident that the outstanding technical and aesthetic properties of this new collection will enable us to meet the demanding expectations of our target audience.'

Antonio added: 'All of the tiles in The Naturals Collection can also be fixed to the walls too, of course. This not only further increases the design scope of this range, it enables a streamlined flow from wall to floor to be achieved.'

The Naturals Collection features three standard sizes – 300 by 300, 150 by 150 and 100 by 100 – and Bullnose Battiscopa skirtings are available in 300 by 95, and in all three colours.

Combining floor tiles from The Naturals Collection with the company’s existing range of antique crackle-glaze ceramic wall tiles, particularly the White Linen, Cream Haze and Ivory Shell shades, may also further increase the design scope of this new range.

The Naturals Collection display board is unobtrusive and lightweight, measuring just 400 x 800mm, and may be displayed alongside Imperial’s sanitaryware or wall mounted where space or showroom layout demands. Any of the tile, marble and stone boards are immediately available free of charge to supporting stockists and may be obtained by contacting Imperial Bathrooms’ Sales Department on 0870 60 61 62 3. Limestone Decadence from Burlington

Burlington says that its new range of natural limestone flooring is already becoming a popular choice with those architects, specifiers and interior designers looking to create a striking design feature combined with durability and ease of maintenance.

Increasingly specified throughout interior and exterior flooring projects, Burlington’s limestone range comprises two stones - Cavendish and Caulfield. Whilst Cavendish delivers a hue of subtle light beiges, mid creams and soft browns, the darker Caulfield limestone has a richer tone that is accentuated with mottled markings. Both stones are complementary to each other and create an eye-catching design scheme when featured side by side. Available in 15mm thickness and in a range of sizes such as 300 x 300mm, 400 x 400mm, 600 x 400mm and 800 x 400mm, both limestones can be cut to size to suite individual designs and come with a honed or flame textured finish.

In addition to the aesthetic properties of Cavendish and Caulfield, Burlington says that it is their advanced technical characteristics that make them a superior flooring medium. In addition to being extremely hard wearing, which makes them particularly suitable for heavily pedestrianised areas, they are also easy to clean and maintain. Impervious to water, they are also suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, changing rooms and spa areas when specified with the flame-textured anti-slip surface.

Comments Joint-Managing Director, Malcolm Hatch: 'It is no surprise that Burlington’s new limestone range has already become a popular specifying choice as it boasts the ultimate in aesthetic appeal and technical superiority.

'Alongside the company’s existing natural stone palette that ranges from light and olive greens through to silvers, blues, greys and blacks, Burlington’s limestone is becoming an obvious choice of finishing material for many prestigious developments, particularly as the same stone may also be used for cladding and walling features,' he added.

New Look Dunlop Adhesives Hits Shelves

The new look Dunlop Adhesives range is now available throughout the UK, following a transformation of its brand identity, packaging, point of sale and marketing material to support Dunlop's growing position in the market. All Dunlop products have been colour-coded according to their specific application as part of a revolutionary design concept engineered to make product selection easier than ever.

Alex Underwood, product manager for Dunlop Adhesives commented:

‘Dunlop is a globally recognised brand, and we expect the new packaging and supporting materials to unlock its vast sales potential within the retail and builders' merchants sectors.’

The traffic-light concept is entirely unique, and we believe it will help continue the impressive growth of Dunlop Adhesives in all of its target marketplaces. The response from stockists so far has been unanimously positive.’

The new 'traffic-light' packaging concept groups preparation products with a green colour-code, whilst adhesives are yellow, grouts are amber and finishing products are red - moving the customer through the tiling process from start to finish. In addition to the colour-coded packaging, Dunlop has created on-shelf guides that highlight the required product combinations for the four most common tiling projects: tiling a shower, tiling a kitchen or bathroom, tiling with large-format wall tiles and tiling with large-format or natural stone floor tiles.

Paul Harris, head of sales and marketing at Building Adhesives added:
‘The key objective of the new branding has been to make things easier for the end user when approaching tiling work; ensuring any user understands the various product combinations required to complete a successful tiling project.’

Unique Display Boards Flaunt Imperial Bathrooms’ Tile Range

To support its ever-expanding network of stockists, British bathroom manufacturer, Imperial Bathrooms, has unveiled a series of display boards featuring the company’s distinctive range of antique crackle-glaze wall tiles.

With the emphasis on display-simplicity, the two separate boards are arranged in a landscape format and provide a display of Imperial’s exclusive range of classic brick-shaped and square, white-bodied, softly-undulating, tiles.

In addition to demonstrating the tiles in two sizes – classic brick and square – the display boards present the popular palette of pastel colours available, together with the White Linen and Cream Haze lighter shades. Complementary dado tiles, capping strips and glass mosaic tiles are also available in grey, white and cream and demonstrate the added detail and flexibility of this new range.

Unobtrusive and lightweight, measuring just 400 x 800mm, both tile boards may be displayed alongside Imperial’s sanitaryware or wall mounted where space or showroom layout demands.

Imperial Bathrooms’ Sales Director, John Gill, comments: 'Not only do our new tile boards reflect the outstanding quality and aesthetics of our product range, they enhance our retail displays and provide a much-needed POS mechanism to help really fire the consumers’ imagination. They are also testimony to Imperial’s ongoing commitment to its retailer network.'

Imperial’s tile collection is suitable for complementing both contemporary and traditional bathroom interiors. Used to create a single colour backdrop or combined to provide a dramatic multi-coloured effect, they contrast beautifully with the crisp white ceramic glazes of the company’s British vitreous chinaware. Courtesy of an additional glaze to provide a protective seal and guard against staining and colour discolouration, the company says that these tiles are unrivalled in the market place.

The new tile boards are immediately available and are free of charge to all supporting stockists. To order, contact Imperial Bathrooms’ Sales Department on: 0870 60 61 62 3. For further information on the company and its products, visit http://www.imperial-bathrooms.com.

Eco Design Meets Health Conscious Tile

Strata Tiles, supplier of architectural tile solutions, has added the finishing touch to Mile End Leisure Centre one of the UK's major ecologically designed, community, leisure centres.

Designed by leading architects Limbrick Ltd the development completed the final stage of the Mile End Park project. The centre provides the East End with more public sports facilities and being located within two miles of the Olympic Village, it will support the Olympic Games as a training complex.

The facility includes a wet health suite which required hygiene promoting tiles to reduce the spread of water related disease and infections. Buchtal Plural mosaic tiles are treated with Hydrotect technology a surface coating that has three special characteristics; they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect and eliminate disagreeable odours by improving air quality.

‘Ceramic tiles treated with Hydrotect surface coating help protect against harmful bacteria such as penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and E-coli. This is perfect for use in an environment where bacteria and fungi ordinarily thrive’ said Paul Wallis, Strata tiles.

‘The leisure centre is a very popular social/community complex which receives high volumes of public traffic. With this in mind the architects required a durable and practical tile solution that fitted with both the aesthetic and functional need of their design. Buchtal Plural mosaic tiles are safe, clean and create an attractive environment for both staff and users' continued Paul Wallis.

Strata tiles provided the flooring and wall tiles for the entire leisure centre development, including an eight lane swimming pool, separate learner pool with moveable floor and 80 station fitness suite. More than 5000 metres squared of tiles were laid to complete this major leisure development.

Ceramica Imola Experiences Growth

Cooperativa Ceramica di Imola has launched an investment programme totalling 130 million euro over a period three years with the objective of increasing its output in Italy, in marked contrast to the internationalisation trend that is currently in progress in the Italian tile industry.

The Group closed fiscal 2006 with a total turnover of 390 million euro, of which 68% was generated by exports to Europe, North America, Russia and China. Turnover was 7% up on 2005 and according to initial estimates net profits also increased over the previous year's 5.3 million euro.

As well as upgrading existing plant, the new investment programme also includes the installation of four kilns (three in Imola and one in Faenza), which are expected to increase production by four million square metres of tiles a year, and two cogeneration plants (one in Imola and one in Faenza) to reduce energy costs, partly responsible for the general increase in prices faced by the sector over the last four years.

Award Winning British Manufacturer Teams with Topps Tiles

The interior design scene has seen an explosion of prints this season, with a new revival for experimenting with bold prints, patterns and different textures. In response to this move away from minimalism, and a new crave for decoration and detail, British Ceramic Tile (BCT Ltd) has teamed up with Topps Tiles to produce a new Baroque print tile.

The Baroque White and Charcoal tiles can be used to make a bold statement in any room. The stylish monochrome look can be achieved by adapting the entire room to the black and white colour scheme, emphasising the prints and patterns on display. A delicate and elegant room design can be created with the cream and brown tile. Or, for a softer more subtle impact the tile can be teamed with softer hues.

Designers have the freedom to play with the tile as a dramatic centre piece for a room, or it can be used sparingly on a feature wall for a more subtle and discrete look.

Steeped in history, the Baroque print has traditionally been known as a pattern for fabric. Over the centuries it has remained a classic and popular print, adorning draperies and used in upholstery, creating a luxurious effect with a timeless appeal

Dunlop Adhesives gives Re-Brand the Green Light

Tile adhesive, grout and sealant brand Dunlop Adhesives is set to undergo a comprehensive and revolutionary product re-brand, supporting its rising position within the DIY and Builders' Merchants marketplace. The new re-branded packaging, point-of-sale material and marketing literature will incorporate an easy-to-use 'traffic-light' selection guide for customers, defining products by the specific stages of the tiling process, and attributing adhesives and grouts to relevant applications.

Alex Underwood, Product Manager for Dunlop Adhesives commented:
‘The re-brand will revolutionise a marketplace that has traditionally failed to unlock the potential of innovative and user-friendly packaging and support materials. Our products will retain the same professional quality, but we have tailored our packaging to demystify tiling for those without comprehensive technical knowledge or experience.’

As part of the re-brand, the Dunlop range has been colour-coded, using groups of green, yellow, orange and red - referring to preparation, adhesive, grouting and finishing products. By connecting product categories through the coding system, Dunlop hopes that all users, regardless of their knowledge of tiling, will be able to identify the individual products required to complete a project.

Alex Underwood continued:
‘The packaging is designed to remove the margin of doubt when selecting various tiling products for a specific project. In addition to the traffic-light system that denotes the compatibility and order of application of different tiling products; suitability for different tile materials and environments is clearly marked using a system of simple icons.’

The point-of-sale material again takes an advisory angle, highlighting the chain of products - from green to red - required for the most popular applications, including bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Dunlop is also set to enhance its website with technical support materials that will not only provide users with detailed product selection advice, but also application guides and FAQ's.

The new packaging will hit shelves throughout the UK this April, and the re-brand also involves the re-naming of some Dunlop products. A comprehensive 'old and new' conversion guide will be available on the Dunlop website, and will be printed within all the new point-of-sale material.

Kay Porter, Head of Marketing for Dunlop Adhesives commented:
‘The Dunlop re-brand will optimise the potential of the Dunlop brand within both existing and new markets. We are very pleased about the quality and enhanced functionality of the packaging designs, and it will be very exciting to see the user response.’
