Stylish New Tile Collection Designed Exclusively for Homebase by BCT Ltd

Tile manufacturer British Ceramic Tile (BCT Ltd) has introduced a collection of contemporary tiles for leading UK home enhancement retailer, Homebase. The designs introduce both a stylish and modern selection of tiles suitable for the bathroom and kitchen. The Linen, Riva Mosaic, Liberty and Manhattan ranges will be available in selected stores across the UK.

Linen is a distinctive tile collection with a textured finish which mirrors that of the real fabric. Available in two colourways, the Linen tile offers a softer look than natural stone whilst keeping within a neutral colour palette. It comes in classic but fashionable duck egg blue or a subtle taupe. The range allows you to create an elegant room design using the Palm strip, which features raised palm fronds, or Linen Squares strip embellished with platinum.

The clean, geometric design of the Liberty and Manhattan range is reminiscent of New York’s minimalist city grid, lending a cool, elegant look to today’s stylish home. Adding chic glass, platinum, or pearlescent strip completes the look.

The large format Riva Mosaics provide a timeless mosaic option available in gloss white, natural, or blue. The natural and blue colourways offer a myriad of subtle colour variations within each tile, bringing a beautiful, shimmering effect into your bathroom or kitchen.

The full collection is now available from selected Homebase stores across the country.

Limestone Decadence from Burlington

Burlington says that its new range of natural limestone flooring is already becoming a popular choice with those architects, specifiers and interior designers looking to create a striking design feature combined with durability and ease of maintenance.

Increasingly specified throughout interior and exterior flooring projects, Burlington’s limestone range comprises two stones - Cavendish and Caulfield. Whilst Cavendish delivers a hue of subtle light beiges, mid creams and soft browns, the darker Caulfield limestone has a richer tone that is accentuated with mottled markings. Both stones are complementary to each other and create an eye-catching design scheme when featured side by side. Available in 15mm thickness and in a range of sizes such as 300 x 300mm, 400 x 400mm, 600 x 400mm and 800 x 400mm, both limestones can be cut to size to suite individual designs and come with a honed or flame textured finish.

In addition to the aesthetic properties of Cavendish and Caulfield, Burlington says that it is their advanced technical characteristics that make them a superior flooring medium. In addition to being extremely hard wearing, which makes them particularly suitable for heavily pedestrianised areas, they are also easy to clean and maintain. Impervious to water, they are also suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, changing rooms and spa areas when specified with the flame-textured anti-slip surface.

Comments Joint-Managing Director, Malcolm Hatch: 'It is no surprise that Burlington’s new limestone range has already become a popular specifying choice as it boasts the ultimate in aesthetic appeal and technical superiority.

'Alongside the company’s existing natural stone palette that ranges from light and olive greens through to silvers, blues, greys and blacks, Burlington’s limestone is becoming an obvious choice of finishing material for many prestigious developments, particularly as the same stone may also be used for cladding and walling features,' he added.

NWL Sees Things in Black and White

North Western Lead Co (Hyde) Ltd has launched its collection of contemporary handmade Monochrome Fused Tiles.

Already dubbed miniature works of art, these beautiful pieces of black and white glass have been launched in response to the growing trend towards minimalism and clean lines in interior design.

Manufactured from pieces of glass, which have been permanently fused together at extremely high temperatures, the Monochrome Fused Tiles are warm and smooth to the touch and are made from two layers of glass which are kiln fired to more than 1000ºc, then annealed to give them their characteristic strength and durability.

These tiles come in a range of shapes and patterns including squares, diamonds quadrants and trapezoids and have been designed to complement NWL's wide range of decorative lead strips. They are suitable for interior and exterior use and open up a wealth of stylish design opportunities for kitchen cabinets, doors, windows, glass furniture panels, conservatories and even mirrors and shower screens.

Unlike bevels, the edges of these tiles are smooth, so they do not always need to be covered with lead. In fact, in some cases, such as when using a sand blasted panel, lead may not be necessary at all. However, in applications where lead is desired, NWL can provide a range of options that complement the tiles, including Jet, Titanium, Satin, White and Grey.

Because many of the tiles in the collection are opaque, NWL has recently unveiled a state-of-the-art UV light box which enables users to quickly and simply cure adhesives from below.

The tiles feature in the new 12 page Monochrome Fused Tiles Collection brochure. For further details on Monochrome Fused Tiles or to obtain a copy of the brochure, please contact 0161 368 4491.

North Western Lead Co (Hyde) Ltd was established in 1946 and is a leading supplier of decorative glass overlay products, including glass bevels, self adhesive strip lead, film and fused tiles. The company's flagship product - Decra Led® - is a self adhesive lead strip. Manufactured from ingot lead which has been specially selected to produce a polished even finish with clean cut edges, Decra Led® provides consistent malleability for ease of working on all designs.

Temple Trading goes Out on the Tiles

Injecting a touch of colour into any room, Temple Trading's collection of vintage tube lined tiles, home accessories and gifts feed the trend for Victorian period style interior decoration.

A technique popular in 19th century tile production, tube lining is the process of hand filling a raised design with deep areas of rich glaze colour. The resulting effect is vibrant, clearly defined, three-dimensional designs in deep and vivid shades. Using the same methods and techniques to produce tiles indistinguishable from their 19th century originals, Temple Trading produces a stately range of period style tiles, murals and interior accessories.

Individually hand crafted, the tiles are produced by an original British tile factory that fell into disuse 50 years ago. A major restoration project has breathed new life into the factory, thanks to the public's growing affinity for Victorian England period style interior design.

Temple Trading's collection includes a wide array of patterned and plain antique finish tiles. Finished with a unique antique glaze recipe, the tiles have a deep crackled appearance, and come in a range of sizes, from 6x6 inch standard square, 3x6 inch horizontal rectangle or round.

There is an abundance of patterns and designs to choose from, ranging from plain, understated natural hues - ideal to harmonise against stronger interior decoration, intricate symmetrical patterns in vibrant blues, greens, plums and reds, and subtle autumnally shaded designs. The popular panels and murals are decorated with ornate bird, flower and fruit motifs, and are also available with a dark wood frame, perfect as a stand-alone item to lift a lifeless wall.

An art nouveau and modern floral range introduces a more contemporary option, but maintaining the authenticity of the antique finish. The handsome selection offers something for all tastes, from delicate shades, to deep plums and greens, to fresh bright uplifting colours.

Completing the collection is an assortment of ornamental, but functional, home accessories - ideal for unusual gifts ideas. Featuring Temple Trading's tiles framed in plush dark wood, the choice includes jewellery and treasure boxes, coat hooks, letter racks, wall plaques, and mirrors.

Over 50 different designs and patterns of tube line tiles are available at affordable prices. See the full collection at http://www.templetrading.co.uk.

BAL Green Star in the Ascendant

Building Adhesives, the manufacturer of tile adhesives and grouts has re-launched its longstanding Green Star adhesive, using an enhanced formulation that further improves product performance. Green Star has been manufactured by Building Adhesives at its plant in Stoke-on-Trent for over a decade, and as with all BAL products it is subject to a constant process of review as technology advances.

Debi Bailey, senior product manager for BAL explained:
'All BAL products are constantly under review to ensure they perform at the very front end of their respective marketplace, and Green Star is no exception. Essentially, we have identified a formulation that performs even better, so from May this year, the new version of Green Star has been on the shelves.'

'The unique element to this reformulation project has been the integral part that fixers have played in the changes to Green Star. All of our engineering has been focussed around their feedback and direct testing.' She added.

In order to ensure Green Star has the complete range of characteristics that fixers are looking for, ranging from useability to adhesion properties, BAL undertook a thorough testing programme at its training centre in Stoke-on-Trent to gain feedback and advice from a panel of professional tiling contractors.

Debi Bailey continued:
‘Getting fixer feedback during the actual development process gave us great peace of mind that the changes we were making were genuinely improving Green Star from a fixer's perspective.

‘At BAL, we see ourselves as very much a part of the tiling community, so it made sense to involve tilers in the reformulation of Green Star, as they best understand what is required of the product on a day-to-day basis.’ She added.
