Bathroom specialist Hansgrohe presents award-winning designs at Ecobuild with EcoSmart technology

Hansgrohe, the shower and bathroom specialist, will once again take a stand at Ecobuild, which takes place next week from Tuesday 2nd - Thursday 4th March. As Europe’s largest event dedicated to sustainable design and construction for the built environment, Ecobuild has become a regular fixture for Hansgrohe as the ideal opportunity to display its award-winning portfolio of water and energy-saving showers, mixer taps and thermostatic mixers.

Since exhibiting last year ,Hansgrohe has achieved a number of accolades for its sustainable product design. The Crometta 85 Green shower is the most decorated in terms of awards: Thanks to a combination of devised flow regulation and central air intake, this clever hand and overhead shower delivers just six litres of water per minute while still providing a great shower.

Achievements include winning the ‘Environmental Innovation Award for Bathrooms’ for 2009, inclusion in the BMA water-efficiency labelling scheme, the Waterwise Marque and most recently being added to the Water Technology List as part of the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme. This allows businesses to write-off 100% of their spending in the first year when they invest in any approved product that saves water. Further Hansgrohe products have since been added to the list – find out more at the show. (You can find out more about the scheme at www.eca.gov.uk).

'More Pleasure, Less Consumption' is the ethos at Hansgrohe and this will be demonstrated on the working display unit where the performance and flow rates of various Hansgrohe models can be tested with and without EcoSmart technology. Products will include the keenly-priced Crometta and Croma shower families and the versatile Raindance EcoSmart AIR collection with versions to suit every possible installation. Fixed overhead showers, hand showers and showerpipes with head diameters ranging from 100mm to 240mm are guaranteed to please in terms of both style and showering enjoyment. Water consumption is around nine litres per minute (at 3 bar) compared with up to 18 litres per minute in the non-EcoSmart versions.

Visitors can also try out various superbly engineered bathroom and kitchen mixer models from Hansgrohe. All are fitted as standard with flow limiters that aerate the water and limit flow to seven litres per minute, but if required to reduce consumption further they can be fitted with rosettes that reduce flow to as low as two litres per minute for bathroom mixers and four litres per minute for kitchen mixers.

In addition to water-saving fittings, Hansgrohe will also demonstrate how you can use water twice with its Pontos AquaCycle. This incredible indoor grey water recycling system takes water from the shower, bath and sink and recycles it for flushing toilets and urinals, cleaning, washing clothes and watering gardens. The product is modular with systems that have processing capacities of up to 12,000 litres per day. This allows AquaCycle to be tailored to the needs of various projects including hotels and commercial enterprises.

During its almost 109 year history, Hansgrohe, with head office in Schiltach in the Black Forest, has acquired a reputation in the sanitation sector as one of the innovative leaders in technology and design. With its fittings, showers and shower systems, Hansgrohe creates the original products that make the bathroom more functional, more comfortable and more beautiful.

It is no coincidence that the company's products can be found in prominent prestigious projects such as on the giant cruiser 'Queen Mary II', in Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow Airport, in the German Reichstag and at the Chancellor's office in Berlin, in the Yoo luxury apartments in New York or at the Masdar City Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi.

In 2008, the company generated sales of around EUR 668 million with its Axor, Hansgrohe, Pharo and Pontos brands (2007: EUR 661 million). The Hansgrohe Group currently has a global workforce of about 3,200 employees, with about two-thirds of them working in Germany. The company, which takes tough action against product piracy and intellectual property theft, manufactures its products in six German plants, in France, the Netherlands, in the US.and in China.

Hansgrohe AG is the official partner of Deutsches Haus (German House) Vancouver 2010, the official representative of the German Olympic Sport Federation at the games.

If you're visiting Ecobuild next week, Hansgrohe's stand (number 2220) is conveniently located on the main walkway in Hall EC2.
