Tilers welcome 1,000+ new projects from TilerWorld

Tilers across the country have hailed the growing success of www.tilerworld.com, having already been awarded more than 1,000 domestic tiling projects through the free service. Consumers are increasingly using TilerWorld as it completes its first year in operation, with 2,000 new visitors every month looking for tiling advice, inspiration or a tiling professional.

By entering a location, they can compare up to 20 local tilers and ask up to five to quote for their own project. More than 6,000 professional tilers nationwide are registered with TilerWorld, with around 30% logging in at least once weekly. Over 400 other web sites now refer consumers to TilerWorld with a direct link.

Each tilerÕs customisable profile, which is also their web site, can include photographs of their work, customer ratings and testimonials, details of their training, qualifications, affiliations and experience as well as a personal introduction to themselves and their work.

Consumers can compare tilersÕ abilities by examining these profiles. After their appointed tiler has completed the project, the customer is encouraged to add their own rating, through a monthly free draw.

Experienced tiler Lee Williams, in Warrington, says of the service: ÓTilerWorld is fantastic. For the first time, anyone thinking about having tiling done and wanting a professional has somewhere to find rated tilers. It is fantastic for fixers, too. Apart from the free advice and latest news updates, I benefit from free business tools such as my own web site, which makes it even easier for customers to find a professional.Ó

Russell Tate, of Leeds, agrees, saying: ÒPotential customers can instantly get a clear feel for the tilers in their area, which can only help them select tilers more confidently and allow tilers to reach more possible customers.Ó

TilerWorld also offers tilers a useful online information resource. It gives answers to technical questions, an impressive array of downloadable material and access to their peers through the TilerWorld Forums.

David Wingate, a Sunderland tiler, says: ÒTilerWorld is an ideal tool for fixers to share their own experiences with other fixers. Fixers can always learn from each other and the Forum in particular is fantastic for sharing experiences to overcome similar hurdles faced by others in the past.Ó

Bristol-based tiler Mike Bennett also appreciates the Forums. He says: ÒI often log-in and look at the latest threads and information being shared. Even with my experience, it is important to stay ahead of constantly changing trends, regulations and latest working practices, so it is great to share experience with fellow fixers.Ó

Ian Wardle, of Sheffield, also applauds the TilerWorld ease of use. He says: ÒThe site is really simple Ð I just get emails, which I can even pick up on site on my Blackberry to reply. I have had to turn down some requests, due to other work already booked in, but to get the quote requests and work is fantastic.Ó

TilerWorld has been supported from the start by BAL, as part of its drive to improve standards in tiling and to broaden services available to tilers and their customers.

Alex Underwood, BAL brand manager, says: ÒTilerWorld has been a success from the outset for one simple reason: it works. It brings together professional tilers and their customers, offering both a broad range of services which are completely free to use. The proof of its value can be seen in the 1,000-plus projects already awarded by consumers using TilerWorld.

"The siteÕs popularity is growing as word spreads and, week after week throughout the country, tilers are winning work from previously unknown customers that otherwise they might not have heard about.Ó
