Hotspot House: the functional app

* bma-app3.jpgThe Bathroom Manufacturers Association has been working with the Children's Burns Trust to create a fun and educational app to warn children of the dangers of hot water in the home.

The 'Hot Water Burns Like Fire' campaign was successfully launched 12 months ago with the support of CBT patron Amanda Redman. The campaign was developed to raise awareness of the dangers of hot water in the home.

Each month, 232 children require admission to an NHS Burns Service following injuries with hot liquids.

The Hot Water Burns Like Fire campaign tells us it's thrilled to launch Hotspots House, the new, free, fun-educational app that will teach children and parents alike the dangers in and around the home.

This first edition of the game visits Benji's house and using facts and statistics from the Children's Burns Trust, teaches children in a fun-educational way the seriousness of scalding and burns.

The app is suitable for children of all age ranges - there are three different levels; easy - targeted at parents teaching their children hazards which when found will throw up useful hints and tips on how to prevent scalds and burns... medium - which when the hazard is found will give a statistic, tip or fact - and hard - which is a multiple choice question for each hazard, based on what has been learnt in the previous levels.

The app has a parental information link which links to the Hot Water Burns Like Fire website, www.hotwaterburns.org - and allows parents to read real life accounts of the trauma that scalds and burns have on families across the UK.

The Hot Water Burns Like Fire campaign has one objective; to raise awareness of the dangers of hot water in the home. Burns and scalds change lives forever. The impact on the individuals and their families is sudden and devastating. But it needn't be so, since simple and relatively inexpensive bathroom products with built-in thermostatic devices (TMVs) will prevent such accidents.

The free app is available for download now on the Google Play Store simply search for 'hotspots' or follow this link:
