Liebherr revolutionises refrigeration design with BluPerformance

Unveiled at IFA 2015 and now to be launched into the UK market for Spring 2016, Liebherr has announced its most significant recent development in its refrigeration appliances with the introduction of its BluPerformance Premium models, which offer energy ratings of A+++, and even better A+++/-20% - thanks to a complete rethinking of the appliance's design and technology...

The compressor and condenser unit has been removed from the back and is now compactly integrated into the base of the appliance. This provides a much larger internal capacity and ensures the appliance is quiet in operation.

These appliances have an optional SmartDevice box which allows simple integration into smart homes via WLAN, facilitating convenient remote control of appliances from mobile devices, both in and outside the home. Using the SmartDevice box, it is possible to receive status and alarm notifications from the refrigerator and to make changes to appliance settings.

The new fridge-freezers have a seven-inch, high-resolution touchscreen display integrated in the door featuring a wide range of easy-to-use, pre-set programmes which provide access to information, energy saving tips and storage advice for all sorts of different foods. The home screen can be set to arrange and display up to six functions. Additional functions can be activated to further reduce energy consumption. For example, the EnergySaver function slightly increases the pre-set temperature and the Holiday function raises the temperature in the refrigerator compartment to 15°C for periods of longer absence.

The new models also serve to keep more food fresh as they are equipped with significantly larger BioFresh safes. These have a humidity control plate, allowing them to be used as either a HydroSafe (with a higher humidity level) or as a DrySafe (with a lower humidity level).

All BluPerformance refrigerators and fridge-freezers have a FreshAir activated charcoal filter integrated into the PowerCooling housing. This filter cleans the circulating air, and quickly removes unpleasant odours to guarantee optimum air quality. The electronic display has a useful reminder function to inform users when the filter requires replacing.
