British Ceramic Tile supports students at Plymouth College of Art

* Plymouth_College_Building.jpgBritish Ceramic Tile, the UK's largest manufacturer of ceramic and glass tiles, has been supporting the next generation of textile designers with the sponsorship of a category in the final year show for students at Plymouth College of Art.

The company was one of a few who sponsored the end of year show at the college. The team reviewed the collections, and chose the work of one student that pushed the boundaries of creativity, and best reflected the category sponsored.

This local partnership was a first for the Devon-based tile manufacturer with final year student Amy Wright receiving a £250 prize. Amy has now completed her course in BA (Hons) Printed Textile Design, graduating with a First.

Titled 'Pure Dusk', Amy's collection features a sophisticated colour palette, with both printed and laser cut fabric samples, printed lampshades and large cushions, all aimed at the interior design market. The innovative design collection draws its inspiration from a variety of sources, both natural and manmade, with clear in depth background research.

Claire O' Brien, head of design at British Ceramic Tile says: "This partnership with Plymouth College of Art has been incredibly rewarding. Watching the next generation of designers carefully research and refine their creations was a real pleasure and very inspiring. The level of talent on show has to be applauded and we wish Amy all the best of luck in her future career.

"What stood out in Amy's final year project was the combination and broad range of techniques she demonstrated, fused together with an air of sophistication - she had to be our winner!"?

British Ceramic Tile will be carrying on its partnership with Plymouth College of Art, setting a project for the year 2 textile students to run from September 2016 to January 2017, and will continue the relationship with the college over the coming years.
