Roper Rhodes invests £10m in new, state-of-the-art, National Distribution Centre

Bath-based Roper Rhodes has invested £10m in a new national distribution centre, following a number of years of double-digit growth across all the company's brands - Roper Rhodes, Laura Ashley Bathroom Collection, R2, Tavistock and Trade.

In the last four years the family-owned business has grown by 50%, resulting in the requirement for more space to help accommodate this - as well as future, growth.

The new premises will see the bathroom specialist consolidate all its warehouse space, which is currently split across a number of locations, into a new 200,000sq.ft facility on a nine-acre site in Portbury, Bristol. The heart of Roper Rhodes' operations, including its design studio where its team of eight product designers create all the products within its portfolio, will remain in Bath.

With its close proximity to the M5 and M4 motorway network, the company's new distribution centre is in an ideal location from which to operate a nationwide delivery service to retailers across the UK. The new site will also be the UK Customer Training Centre and house a suite of showrooms where the huge portfolio of product spanning all of the group brands will be displayed. ?

Newly appointed operations director John Wright, will be instrumental in coordinating the move and introducing the latest technologies in the new facility.

Earlier this year, Roper Rhodes returned to exhibit at trade show KBB Birmingham for the first time in eight years where it unveiled its new identity and updated logo, reflecting a more premium market positioning for the brand.

"We're delighted to unveil our new, state-of-the-art national distribution centre, which we plan to begin operating from in January 2017," says managing director Paul Roper, (pictured).

"Representing a £multi-million investment, our new facility will increase efficiency and enable us to continue to expand our business."
