Zip Water UK's Hannah Sherwin raises more than £3800 for charity in London Marathon

* Zip-Water.jpgHannah Sherwin, marketing assistant at Zip Water UK - manufacturer of advanced drinking water appliances - completed the world-famous Virgin Money London Marathon last month, raising £3,820 for a charity close to her heart.

Hannah ran the gruelling 26.2mile race in aid of King's College Hospital, where her mum received a kidney and liver transplant back in September 2015.

"I've never been much of a runner," says Hannah. "However, after watching some friends and family run the London Marathon last year I decided to set myself the same challenge."

To her surprise, novice runner Hannah was selected in the ballot system.

"When I found out I was successful in getting a place for King's College Hospital, I was over the moon, as this hospital means a lot to me and my family," she explains.

"I wanted to show my support by raising money for all the staff that looked after my mum during the six weeks she spent in hospital for her transplant and to support the research and facilities for the renal department."

King's Renal Unit provides a full range of care in a friendly and supportive environment for people with kidney disease. Its clinicians also provide a full pre-kidney transplant service, supported by counsellors and dietitians, to help prepare patients for transplant.

Having practiced her long-distance running from the moment she found out she had been selected for the race, Hannah went on to complete the London Marathon in 4 hours 43 minutes and 12 seconds.
