The versatile panel solution for kitchen splashbacks and showers
An advanced multi-layer acrylic panel that looks like glass, Lustrolite from Abacus Manufacturing Group is ideal for heavy-duty vertical applications, such as shower walls kitchen splashbacks in residential and commercial situations.
The product is quick and easy to install and, with its gloss finish, ultra-hygienic, hard-coated non-stick surface, does not harbour mould or calcium; bacterial growth is eliminated.
Lustrolite can also be installed over existing wall finishes so is perfect for renovations. The material is cut and drilled on site using standard woodworking tools, with cut-outs for plug sockets or valves easily formed, so the need for lengthy and costly templating is avoided.
When cutting - using a circular saw for longer cuts or a jigsaw for shorter cuts - the Lustrolite should be clamped down to a sacrificial board. Edges are planed or sanded using a sanding pad. Fitting is with double-sided tape and neutral cure silicone. No grouting is required and the non-porous panels are highly scratch-resistant and easy to clean and maintain using a microfibre cloth, soap and water or any standard multi-surface cleaner
The product is available in nine designer colours: white, glacier, red, blue atoll, forest, safari, black, grey and mocha. The material is completely inert and will not release any emissions to the environment.
Although Lustrolite may be fitted alongside ceramic, electric or induction hobs, it is not suitable for use with gas hobs so a range of colour matched glass is available.
Lustrolite panels are 4mm thick and less than half the weight of glass so are easily transported and handled during installation. Four different sizes of kitchen panel are offered: 2070 x 500mm and 2440 x 605mm for the longer runs and 760 x 700mm and 1220 x 1000mm for behind the hob. For bathrooms, three size are available: 2070 x 1000mm, 2440 x 1000mm and 2440 x 1220mm.
The range of Lustrolite accessories includes a dedicated installation kit with enough materials to adhere two panels to the wall. Specialist matt aluminium profiles, including internal corner, external corner, straight joint and edge cap profiles are available to finish the panels' seamlessly as an alternative option to silicon joints. These may be colour matched to the panels.
Where required behind hobs, a specialist aluminium splashback may be used to avoid damage to the panels caused by direct contact with hot pans.
