BMA raises almost £4,000 for Children's Burns Trust

* BMA-burns-trust.jpgThe Bathroom Manufacturers Association has raised £3,895 for the Children's Burns Trust. The money was raised by BMA members that supported the golf days and charity raffles which took place during previous Bathroom and Kitchen Conferences.

"We are delighted that members were so generous in support of this important charity," says BMA CEO Yvonne Orgill. "Every pound raised makes a huge difference. The CBT is the only UK children's charity working nationally, devoted to the rehabilitation and support of burn and scald injured children and their families."

The CBT also addresses important issues identified by the national burn injury database. Working closely with the British Burn Association and other organisations such as the National Fire Chief's Council, the charity highlights the shocking number of children burnt and scalded each year, and promotes good practice to reduce and avoid these dreadful accidents.

Recent figures show that across the board, (children and adults) scalds are the most common cause of burn injury, representing 43% of acute burn injuries. It is estimated that on average 110 children per day are seen in emergency departments with burn injuries - 46 as a result of a hot cup of tea or coffee spill.

"We are hoping to continue our support from this year's golf day which takes place on 26th September at the Belfry Hotel and our charity raffle at the Bathroom and Kitchen conference on 8th October," says Yvonne.

The BMA supports a Hot Water Burns campaign which is endorsed by Amanda Redman MBE, details of the campaign are available from the dedicated website.

There are still places for the 2019 golf tournament and the opportunity to donate a prize for the raffle. For details:
