BMA CEO's expresses anger at faux outrage directed at industry

* BMA-CEO.jpgBathroom Manufacturers Association CEO Tom Reynolds has spoken out against faux criticism towards manufacturers and tradespeople.

While lots of businesses have shut their doors due to Covid-19 restrictions, many construction projects and manufacturers' operations have continued up to now. Several businesses have reported a backlash on social media as a result.

A large proportion of BMA members produce essential fittings that are needed to keep people in their homes and the NHS running safely. This includes supplying the bathroom facilities to the emergency Nightingale Hospital being set up at London's Excel.

Continuing new build construction and completing refurbishments is also essential to ensure people have access to the homes they need.

Manufacturers and responsible construction firms are adhering to the Public Health England guidance on social distancing. That way, they can continue operations safely and Government has repeated said that's the right thing to do.

"Where companies are recklessly ignoring the PHE guidance they should be called out, but such behaviour is rare," argues Tom. "Those people in the bathroom and construction industry who are continuing their essential work do so responsibly.

"I'm furious with the keyboard warriors who are smearing our industry. They conveniently ignore that bathroom fittings are essential for growing capacity in the NHS and maintaining hand hygiene.

"My message for Shadow Ministers talking about a 'phoney lockdown', is that instead of a cheap shot and a soundbite they should be working positively and collaboratively with the Government."
