New kitchen market report published

* fitted-kitchens-report.jpgA new edition of JKMR's 'Overview Report on the UK Kitchen Furniture Market 'has now been published, providing an in-depth review of recent market achievement, along with wide ranging analysis of market performance and development in the short to medium term.

Report findings show the kitchen market continued to face challenging conditions in 2010, with the number of kitchens purchased remaining below the one million level and seeing a small fall from 2009 performance. MSP value growth for fitted kitchen units specifically saw a very small rise on 2009 levels, reaching £1030M, but this was against the background of rising production and distribution costs, and margins remained tight throughout the market.

However, the RSP (client buying price) value for the total fitted kitchen market, including integrated appliances, sinks, taps and worktops, rose just over 1% during the year, driven by an extremely positive performance in the integrated appliance sector.

The report shows the multiple retailer sector as a whole gained further market share, with growth still primarily powered by Howden Joinery. The growth of Howden continues to have a huge impact on the market overall and the Overview Report analyses how the 'trade orientated' retail sector remains the dominant aspect of the market.

The kitchen specialist sector saw its market share fall slightly in 2010, with the mid-market impacted by wider economic and social factors, and the new report reviews how the nature of the specialist sector is rapidly changing, with new consumer buying patterns and expectations.

The 2011 edition of the Overview Report has a considerable emphasis on future market development patterns in both the retail and contract sectors, including quantitative projections for 2011 and 2012. In addition the report highlights potential changes for major retail and supply operations and their likely impact upon the market overall.

This new report provides clients not only with a detailed quantitative picture of how the market has performed in the last year, but also a targeted analysis of the wider socio-economic and demographic factors that under-pin market development, and how they will impinge upon the industry in future years.
Cost for the full report is £575 (VAT free), with access to selected extracts or individual sections from as little as £95.

JKMR research is regularly used by market leaders in all sectors of the industry, along with global names in business and financial consultancy. JKMR produces a wide range of reports on all aspects of the fitted kitchen market.
