Continued from Front Page:

"It is not just the responsibility of Government, water companies and businesses to act against drought. We are asking for the help of everyone by urging them to use less water and to start now."

I am delighted to be part of an industry that has long been aware of the need to conserve water and which has, for many years, been designing products that use less and less water without a resultant deterioration in performance!

What we need to do now though is all pull together to educate the consumer on the fact that water conservation - and not just low energy usage - must be one of the top priorities when it comes to choosing a new appliance or bathroom fitting.

Many of us may be facing a Summer of water rationing and while that is likely to be hard enough in itself, we'll manage; but with the growing population - both in the UK and globally - future water rationing will be a lot worse for our children and our grandchildren to cope with and we need to convince everyone that something must be done NOW, to make a real difference, before it's too late. There simply won't be enough water for everyone and that's a message that just cannot be put across too strongly.
