NKBA announces the 2011/2012 Student Design Competition winners

The US National Kitchen & Bath Association has this week announced the 10 winners of the 2011/2012 NKBA Student Design Competition, which offers more than $10,000 in scholarships and prizes. The winners will be awarded at the NKBA Design Competition Awards event nextTuesday, April 24th at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) held at Chicago's McCormick Place This prominent industry event will also recognise the professional designers who created the best kitchens and baths of the past year. The event is an exclusive event available only to the press, top designers, and select industry insiders.

Sponsored by Sub-Zero and Wolf, as well as Waypoint Living Spaces, a division and trademark of American Woodmark Corporation, the 2011/2012 NKBA Student Design Competition, received more hundreds of entries from students at colleges and universities across North America. The students' designs offer insight into fresh design trends generated by the up-and-coming generation of professional designers.

The following eight students were selected for their designs, as winners in the 2011/2012 NKBA Student Design Competition.

Kitchens:

1st Place: Alice Mulcock; Seminole State College of Florida
2nd Place: Elaine Treadwell; The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online
3rd Place: KC Smelser; Montana State University - College of Technology-Great Falls
Honorable Mention: Jean Dinkel; Canada College

Bathrooms:

1st Place: Elaine Treadwell; The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online
2nd Place: Lindsey Taylor Stein; The Art Institute of Philadelphia
3rd Place: Courtney Federspiel; Lakeland College
Honorable Mention: Andrea Brown; Seminole State College of Florida
