InSinkErator celebrates its 75th anniversary

InSinkErator, the global leader and the inventor of the food waste disposer, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with the production of its 150 millionth disposal unit.

InSinkErator, part of Emerson, brought the food waste disposer to market 75 years ago in 1938, and in 2007 the company launched the steaming hot water tap - delivering 98 degree centigrade hot water.

InSinkErator has gone from strength to strength over almost eight decades, and is now expanding to new markets across Asia, India, the Middle East and Africa.

InSinkErator's landmark anniversary comes at a time when waste disposal units are playing an increasingly critical environmental role in managing food scraps, and are gaining popularity on a global scale. A disposer has the potential to grind waste so it can be used for biogas or fertiliser, reducing the planet's carbon footprint and offering a sustainable solution to food waste.
