Iconic SMEG500 in red arrives in the UK

* SMEG-500R.jpgFollowing the infamous collaboration between award-winning appliance manufacturer Smeg, Italian car manufacturer Fiat and prestigious designers Italia Independent, the SMEG500 refrigerator is now available to the UK market in a vibrant red shade in addition to green and white.

The iconic SMEG500 embraces the recognisable aesthetics of the Fiat 500 and makes a bold statement in any interior, from design-led kitchens to fashionable bars, particularly when the headlights are switched on for dramatic effect.

Smeg's brand manager John Davies says: "The SMEG500 reflects the creativity behind the Smeg brand. We are always keen to develop the next iconic design on the appliance market and we work closely with other forward-thinking companies along with inspired designers to achieve groundbreaking, innovative products, which still have a high build quality."

This stylish refrigerator has an A+ energy rating and a net capacity of 100 litres, with three removable bottle holders and one removable glass shelf. It has a low sound level of 42dB and features Smeg's automatic defrost system, which automatically defrosts at regular intervals, to eliminate the need to manually defrost altogether.

It measures H83 x W125 x D80cm.

Smeg was founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni Snr in 1948 when the company specialised in enamelling and metal working. The name, SMEG, is an acronym Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla, which roughly translates as smelting and metal enamelling plant in Guastalla, Emilia.
