Celebration marks quarter of a century

When Portway started distributing freestanding and built-in appliances way back in 1989, a mid-range washing machine cost £400! That same machine would cost under £200 today!

As Portway celebrates 25 years this month, supplying the electrical trade, the company is unveiling a range of promotions to mark this significant anniversary.

"We've traded through boom times and two appalling recessions," admits Commercial Director John Bainbridge. "We've seen retailers, brands and people come and go and come back again! But thanks to the tenacity and loyalty of our retailer base, Portway has grown exponentially.

"Today, retail margins have never been tighter with prices being driven down and down. To help our customers reduce their costs our own stock holding has never been greater. Holding huge stocks saves space and the cost of space for our retailers.

"Portway's super-fast delivery service has never been more vital, again to allow retailers avoid unnecessary stock but be able to deliver promptly. I am sure it is because we recognise what is needed that we enjoy the business that we continue to flourish."

To celebrate 25 years serving the electrical retail industry, Portway has unveiled a range of promotions via a virtual trade show, details arriving with all its customers this week.

"These are not just discounts they are a genuine 'thankyou' to our core retailers who have done business with us for a very long time," adds John. "They are a chance to celebrate our anniversary in a meaningful way."
