'Furniture design is our forte', says Utopia

* Utopia1.jpgUtopia is celebrating 25 years at the forefront of the British bathroom industry with the launch of its fabulous new Bathroom Collection 2015.

"We are proud to be a British manufacturer investing heavily in new product development, new equipment and also recruiting additional staff," says Ian Hall, joint managing director. "This latest launch demonstrates yet again that furniture design is our forte and we look forward to driving the sector with these exciting new products."

The Downton traditional range is the jewel in the crown of the new portfolio, beautiful freestanding furniture offering all the style and elegance of period bathrooms. Alongside Downton and forming a complete contrast to it is the Geo range of boutique hotel-style washstations. Colour is another keynote of the new range with a sumptuous selection of heritage colours along with dashes of vibrant colour. Strategic extensions to existing furniture ranges, sanitaryware, brassware and tiles complete the new product line-up.

Step back in time with Downton

In Downton, Utopia has captured the authentic look of traditional furniture and combined it with all the features and benefits of contemporary craftsmanship.

There are two Downton doorstyles, Classical, a bordered design with a raised and fielded centre panel, and Shaker. Both are available in six paint effect woodgrain finishes in 'heritage' shades and two woodgrains. In each case, the carcass finish matches the door and the interior finish is parchment. Soft close hinges and drawer runners are fitted as standard throughout the range and all units are supplied with an optional plinth, which may be preferred for ease of cleaning and concealing pipework.

The range comprises washbasin and vanity units in a range of sizes from 450mm to 1200mm with ceramic slabtop, sit-on, drop in or undermount basins, offered with laminate or solid surface worktops from an extensive selection of finishes. Base units and toilet units can also be teamed with laminate or solid surface worktops for a co-ordinating effect. Wall units, mirrors, mirror cabinets and bath panels complete the furniture range.
There are six handles in the range, including authentic crystal knob, crackle bar and crackle button handles. Quantum Classical, a sanitaryware range with moulded detailing, has been also introduced to complement Downton, along with a selection of traditionally styled taps and retro-inspired decorative tiles

Contemporary chic

* Utopia2.jpgBringing boutique hotel-style to the collection is Geo, a contemporary range of wall-hung washstations with a choice of two solid surface basins in matt white. Geo Freeflow is a 1200mm curved statement basin while Geo Integra is a sharply defined rectangular basin with decorative chrome hanging rails in 800, 1200 and 1600mm sizes. A third option is to team the new 100mm solid surfacing available in 12 colours with ceramic sit-on basins.

Designed to complement the washstations is Geo Store, a new concept in storage. Available in 600 and 800mm widths, these handleless drawers are available in eight carcass colours and 18 door finishes. They can be positioned to suit - stacked, in line or staggered - introducing a creative design element to the range.

Core fitted range extended

* Utopia3.jpgWith the current vogue for classic styling set to continue, Utopia is extending its core fitted range with two new doorstyles. Clara is a true Shaker style available in any finish and Amelia is a classic raised and fielded door, available in the six new paint effect woodgrain finishes and also the new Durham Oak and Eton Oak woodgrains.

Fitted furniture continues to be a very important part of the Utopia portfolio as it frequently offers the most effective solution to planning small and awkwardly shaped bathrooms.

New textured finishes and solid surface options

* Utopia4.jpgWith natural textures and finishes currently by far the most popular, Utopia is adding 15 new finishes to its extensive range. These include six paint effect woodgrains in subtle colourways, two woodgrains, five gloss and two new flat sheen finishes. Utopia expects vibrant new Aubergine Gloss and rich Cocoa Gloss to be particularly popular along with Teal and Clay.

Ten new 28mm laminate finishes include gloss and wood effects in natural hues plus the striking Liquorice Stripe while two new woodgrains are added to the 50mm laminate worktop selection.

Six new finishes join the 28mm solid surface range which is now available with a chamfered edge detail as an alternative to the pencil edge.
Large format, statement tiles

Utopia has long recognised that the consumer is searching for a complete look - a carefully selected, co- ordinating range of items which goes beyond furniture, brassware and sanitaryware to encompass tiles as well. With this in mind, Utopia has added 10 new floor and 14 wall tiles to its collection of premium quality tiles.

Natural shades predominate still with new wood block effect floor tiles in seven different colours. Particularly impressive teamed with paint effect woodgrain furniture are the large format Bohemian Blues and Bohemian Beiges floor tiles featuring stunning, retro-inspired geometric floral designs. For the walls, monochrome options are very popular and the collection has been expanded to include several new white patterned tiles and the striking Metropolitan Grey large format, striped effect. Offering a completely different look, again with a retro touch, the high gloss brick range comprises eight heritage shades ranging from white to mink.

Stylish new brassware

Brassware is one of the crucially important finishing touches in a bathroom and Utopia is adding nine new brassware ranges from the classic Savio and Salino styles introduced to complement Downton through to sleek contemporary styles.

Marketing support

All the products previewed at the press launch are now available to order. To support the product launch, a brand new lifestyle brochure has been produced. Presented in a contemporary landscape format, the brochure features beautiful new photography and includes helpful range summaries which highlight at a glance both the features and the colour combinations available. Point-of-sale material follows the new creative treatment and a brand new website will be unveiled shortly.
