On-site assessments (OSAT) now available for installers

* Rob-Mascari.jpgIn an effort to endorse the skill levels in the kitchen and bedroom fitting industry, installers can now have their work assessed in the workplace whilst gaining a formal qualification, through an on-site assessment scheme known as OSAT.

"This has many advantages," says assessor Rob Mascari. "Most importantly, the installer does not need to take time out from work."

Rob says that candidates will need to demonstrate that they have the required skills to install a kitchen or bedroom to a high standard and that successful candidates will be awarded the NVQ Level 2 in Fitted Interiors. Funding may in some cases be available through the Construction Industry Training Board.

"There are hundreds of experienced and skilled fitters within the KBB industry; often going unnoticed without an official qualification. If you fall into the category of being a skilled - but unqualified, kitchen installer, a recognised qualification will set you apart from the rest," says Rob.
