Karonia director in 269ft charity abseil
Andrew Pickup, Karonia director, abseiled 269ft down the CLV building in Leeds on Saturday 28th March along with two fellow band members from The Turnarounds in aid of the Stroke Association.
The band has been performing together since 2011 and memorably entertained the crowds at the KBB 2014 exhibitor party at the NEC. Saturday's abseil was the latest in a number of charity events staged by the band.
Despite less than favourable weather conditions, Andrew bravely said: "The strong wind and rain definitely added to the drama of the event and it was great to get a bird's-eye view of the city."
So far the intrepid trio has raised over £550 for the Stroke Association and there is still plenty of time to donate by clicking on the link: www.justgiving.com
Andrew's fellow abseilers were Chris Hornby (Saxophone) and Matthew Hattersley (Drummer). As Saturday was also Matthew's 30th birthday, the team went on from Leeds to Ronnie Scott's in London to celebrate in a slightly more conventional way.
The next charity challenge could well be further from home as Andrew has got his eye firmly fixed on Kilimanjaro.
